I really really love this place. I die for the chicken tacos, rice with their green sauce, and horchata! It's all delicious. Pricey, yes. I decided to place an order by phone, first problem is there is no way to find their menu online but hey not every restaurant has a website. I called the restaurant to ask for Taco, burrito and Torta prices. Se stated the tacos were $2.50 a piece, so I decided to order a Steak Taco Dinner which she explained had 3 tacos. One of my friends happens to tell me they don't do debit so I called back to get my total so I can get cash. Somehow the math didn't add up, turns out 3 tacos plus beans and rice comes out to $12 dollar dinner. How is it possible that a scoop of beans and rice is worth $4.50?! So, needless to say I cancelled my order, and called another taco place a block away and got my delicious 3 steak taco, beans and rice for a grand total of $5.99. On my way to work and had passed this place several times. Finally decided to stop in and try their food. My first impression right when i walked in was the big smile on the chubby at the counter made me feel weird, but he was very polite and offered me a menu. As my eyes glazed upon the menu i became infatuated with Mexican flavor. My mouth was like a roaring waterfall. My body became sweaty because of all the gluttonous thoughts running through my head, and all of a sudden i became erect with hunger. Now i go there everyday to quench my sexual hunger knowing that the first thing ill see every time i walk in is that beautiful fluffy cheeked man and his bright smile. Listen , I dont know where half of these reviews come from . I've been coming here for 20+ years and have had fantastic service except for maybe a few times from people that no longer work there . Sure there was a few years you could call the food slightly above mediocre but that being said for 17 of the 20 years it's always been A1. Honestly one of the best spots around if you're up late looking for a quick bite and a good quick conversation. The meat is always tender and out of thousands of tacos/burritos have had a super chewy piece of meat 2 or 3 times that's a near perfect ratio . I'll say now I've lived in texas and southern california moving back and forth to here and the states listed I've had great authentic mexican food . All I will say is that this definitely ranks way up there in terms of quality .Sure it may be 60-100 cents more expensive than most others in the area but you get what you pay for folks ! Food was good, but beware that they only accept cash. Also, it looks like they own the ATM in the restaurant as the ATM withdrawal came up on my bank account under the name of the restaurant, so...they might be pocketing the $2.50 ATM fee AND avoiding merchant fees from a normal credit transaction. We arrived at this restaurant at 3:05am on Wednesday 11/21 and were the only customers there. Ordered a few burritos and a quesadilla. Not the most complicated order. Another group showed up at about 3:15am and were served by 3:30am. We made our first complaint at that time and were told just a few minutes. At 3:40am, same response to our second complaint. At 3:50am (45 minutes after ordering) we decided we no longer want the order. The ignorant employees started yelling at us claiming for the 3rd time "just a few more minutes" and insisting we have to stay and pay for the food. Waiting any longer for the food was not an option. A person in our group had work at 5am and was about an hour away. No apology, or offer to make up for the mistake in any way, just ignorant employees yelling at us. Worst customer service ever. Aparently if you don't have at least an hour to wait for a burrito/quesadilla, I would not suggest going to this restaurant. read more
