    Torta Cubana

This restaurant recently opened, so I had to try it. More items will be added to the menu, but the current selection is good. I've tried the beef tacos, beef burrito, nachos, steak torta, and torta cubana. All have been really tasty. I'm looking forward to trying their breakfast burrito. I will definitely be back and highly recommend others try it.

After you try a local, independently owned taco shop, you will never go back to Taco Bell again…read more.. okay, maybe if you're highAF and it's after midnight, but I frown on your decision making. Not because of the smoking, but because Taco Bell is trash. You're better than that. Tacos Tolteca is amazing. We've been trying some other local places recently, but made our triumphant return last night, on our way to do some laundry. I got the chicken chimichanga - fried. It comes covered in cheese sauce, with a glorious side of refried beans and some rice. Do yourself the favor and get a container of their freshly made pico de gallo, too. My boyfriend got the Gordo Burrito (Large burrito stuffed with grilled chicken, chorizo, refried beans, Spanish rice and pico de gallo. Covered with queso dip). And some nachos (Nacho chips topped with your choice of meat, queso dip, lettuce, sour cream, and pico de gallo. + .99 for Guacamole) to share - but we were too full up to eat them, so we brought them home. Those are gonna be great with a cocktail! Would definitely recommend!!

False Menu Pricing…read more. The chicken flautas online say $9.99 and I got two orders=$20, but instead was charged $29 for both of them. I also got a horchata for $5, delivery fee is $3. It should've been around 29 bucks, I genuinely believe they squeezed me out of more money once I let them know how much I had in total cause I needed change. Overall, very deceiving. They let me know ahead of time on the phone the delivery person will give me change. I asked for change to the delivery person and they took my $40. I trusted they would give me back change and instead they went to explain how it all added up.. I trusted it again. Upon realizing the price of chicken flautas again to myself, I noticed the total was off after giving away my $40. I feel like I was used. If the menu is not updated, update the menu. This is seriously disappointing to see dishonesty coming from my own people, our culture revolves around honor, not this.

My son loves this place and he frequented Vargas with band mates when they rehearsed nearby a few years ago. Since my son raved about the place I've been wanting to check it out. So, we went yesterday. We each ordered a chicken Gordita, I ordered a chicken chimichanga and my son ordered the (I think) chicken and egg chilaquile. The Gordita's contained diced chicken, tomato's, lettuce and crema fresca between two fried tortillas. The chimichanga was loaded with chicken, rice and veggies. It was huge and delicious! How do I describe my son's enormous dish? A loaded plate of tortillas, sauce, onions, hot peppers, chicken, etc etc etc. topped with TWO fried eggs! I sampled it and was mighty impressed. I even enjoyed Jarrito's pop for the first time. Tasty and made with cane sugar. I believe not too many gringo's like my son and I frequent Vargas. But they should despite the simple dive interior and us not speaking much Spanish. We're already talking about coming back for authentic Mexican cuisine! You order at the counter and they deliver to the table. Four stars only for length of time it took between order and delivery.

We got margaritas: strawberry and house both on the rocks. They were great! My husband ordered a chimichanga and I have a trio of tacos. The kids had sliders and chicken nuggets. The nuggets were their favorite. They both ordered applesauce but the restaurant doesn't have spoons yet and they were out of plastic spoons. No biggie for us (we learned that forks do applesauce pretty well!) Dinner took a turn when we had a very, very large bug join us at the table. My husband killed it but it, in turn, killed our appetite. My kids who spotted it first, begged to leave, but we told them we should finish dinner. They then found another much smaller bug and at that point refused to sit down because they were convinced they were feeling bugs crawling on them (they weren't, but I also couldn't blame them). We had mostly finished so we headed out quickly. We got home and unfortunately the cherry on top of the experience: both got sick (we didn't eat lunch after a busy kids sports day), so it was obvious this was the source. His dish had chicken and steak and I had a chicken and a steak taco, so not sure exactly the overlap. We were super disappointed we have fond memories of Banditos in Baltimore from when we lived downtown. Would like to add the manager and server both were extremely attentive, apologetic and insistent that they discount our meal. We were appreciative they took the incident seriously and trust they'll resolve it.

I ordered the mix-and-match tacos (Birria and Bang Bang Shrimp), which came with two sides. I chose the the Dito Caesar salad and Tajín waffle fries. The Birria taco was good, though the meat could've been a bit more tender. The Bang Bang Shrimp taco surprised me. The sauce was more sweet than spicy, it was missing that spicy "kick" that Im use to. You know the kick that Bonefish has went their Bang Bang Shrimp. However it was still tasty overall. The Dito Caesar salad, unfortunately, didn't hit the mark. It had plenty of dressing but somehow lacked flavor. Honestly tasted like plain iceberg lettuce. On the bright side, the Tajín waffle fries were solid, with a really nice crunch. Overall, it was a decent experience. I'd come back more for the drinks and atmosphere than the food.
