El Greco is not authentic Greek cuisine, although it does satisfy a craving for a gyro, stuffed grape leaves or baklava. Vegetables are fresh, as are the pastries. The chicken is not cooked to order, it is reheated on the flat top. Why not just cook the chicken breast tenders to order? Oh well. Service is odd, too. the white haired guy is Polish, so don't go accusing Greek people for your unfortunate lack of appreciation for the onion. this place has excellent food and great desserts. onions and the like are a staple in the Mediterranean food world, and for you to deny such things is like going to a pizza place and not getting cheese on your pie. there is nothing wrong with Styrofoam. its better for the environment then the more common self righteous attitude that people around here put out, like they actually make a difference or something. We always get the same thing for take out when we come here: the chicken gyros platter with the works, which comes with fries and a drink. Oh, and we always buy one of the awesome little Greek desserts by the register. Perfect every time. Just the right amount of marinated chicken breast, veggies and tzatziki sauce. The fries are always hot and crispy, and they always put plastic ware, napkins, and ketchup in the bag without having to ask for it. The service is always fast and friendly, and most importantly of all, they are always consistent with their food. Also worth noting, this place is immaculately clean. They keep their equipment spotless, which I appreciate tremendously. The prices are also fair. For a quick dinner, this place is a winner in my book. read more

I went there almost weekly for 6 months, enjoying the decent food and nice, clean space, ignoring that the owner rarely acknowledged me and was generally unfriendly. I would have thus forgiven him when twice in the same month I arrived when it was quiet and placed an order with him and then sat there for nearly a half hour, like a fool, wondering when my food was coming. He forgot. Twice. This doesn't happen when you pay attention to your customers, especially regulars. But it's very hard to get this guy to lift his head when you try to place an order let alone turn and face you and say "hello, welcome back" Said loudly I was never coming back as I left. I'll miss it, because i love Greek food, but as Greek food goes, it's moderate anyway. If a quality Mediterranean cafe opened up in downtown Greenfield, he'd be out of business in 6 months. read more

I cannot praise El Greco too highly. I often spend my lunch hour there. The salads are always loaded and the gyros are never stingy. The food is decent quality, however I would avoid the rice since it is not so subtly microwaved and often quite mushy. Order the grape leaves and a lamb kabob plate. Don't forget to try the fries. They are awesome. For a similar amount of time you would spend in the drive thru line at McDonald's, you can get much higher quality food. The atmosphere is calm and generally quiet. The owner is fairly nice. There is always a nice young girl at the counter who he seems to keep a bit too much of an over at times, but I will choose to ignore that in favour of the quick service and decent food.
