    Steak with broccolini and potatoes
    Juliette P.

Lovely meal -- the asparagus and the wedge salad were great! My husband enjoyed the salmon and my son felt the steak hit the spot. They both enjoyed the focaccia, too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Because the weather was nice, we sat outside and the umbrellas provided good cover during the sun shower.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I let the servers know it was my son's birthday and they added a candle in the lemon gelato

    Chicken fettuccini

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Air conditioner was broken but that's no one's fault.. we at least sat near a window.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. we got the focaccia as an appetizer.. it came with a dip of olive oil and vinegar.. there was way too much vinegar.. olive oil alone would've been fine and that was over seven dollars basically for some bread which in the past was complementary at most restaurants. I had the chicken fettuccine, which was just mediocre at best. It tasted more like some sort of Americanized version of a fettuccine with a couple of slabs of chicken thrown on top. Service was mediocre also and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place was definitely not crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Cacio e pepe
    Sue S.

Loved the panelle appetizer! The cacio e pepe was also delicious, with the mushrooms a great addition. My husband loved his burger and patatas bravas. Only weak note was that the tomatoes in the vespa smoked burrata weren't ripe. Great cocktails, too, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the patio was lovely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Chicken Piccata, gf pasta. Lots of capers and flavorful chicken.

We got up the first flight and gave our party number (2), they asked if we were okay to sit upstairs. We said sure, why not, especially as the first floor was decently crowded. We got upstairs and it was so serene and intimate, I couldn't have asked for a better seat. The view of Amherst center was beautiful. Perfect weather, blue skies...I digress! Our server, (who's name I wish I remembered!!) was incredibly helpful and offered recommendations to us as neither of us had been there before. We started with the breaded shrimp with marinara...YUM. If you're a shrimp fan, do yourself a favor and order this. Next came some complimentary bread and oil, which you can never go wrong with. Then entrees. The chicken verdicchio was mine and it was delicious. The mushrooms were tender, the artichoke hearts were a perfect addition. I tried my boyfriend's Alfredo and that too was delicious. Price was pretty decent as well, especially for what felt like a fancy place. $12 for the 7 shrimp, $26 for the Crazy Alfredo and $27 for the verdicchio. We packed up the leftovers and even the next day they were delicious.

The restaurant resides in an older, well kept building in the small downtown area of the rural Town of South Deerfield. The interior of the restaurant is small, but welcoming, with an L-shaped bar for approximately (12) persons which accommodates food service, and table seating for approximately 50-60. We arrived at 5:30pm on a Friday, and by 6pm it was full; reservations are highly recommended. With regards to the food, everything was absolutely amazing! We started with the Fried Calamari (appetizer), which is my 'go to' as I both love it, and feel it is a perfect test of a kitchen's abilities, as it is a simple appetizer, but can be easily cooked poorly; this calamari was perfectly cooked (not chewy), and both lightly battered and flavored for a momentus start to our food experience. We also started with the Roasted Mushrooms (appetizer), and while I did not sample, the other members of my party thoroughly enjoyed. For the main course, I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue (house specialty), which incorporated prosciutto and a unique creamy parmigiano sage rose sauce. The execution of the chicken preparation along with the sauce showcased the talent in the kitchen, reminding me that Gianni Figs is a chef owned restaurant. The other members of the table enjoyed Pasta Carbonara (traditional pasta), Grill to Table Scallops and Chicken Cacciatori (ribeye, chicken, & veal), all which I was informed were amazing! One minor critique as I pretend to be a legitimate food reviewer, is a consideration for the interior ambiance of the right side of the restaurant. If the right side were to more closely resemble the left side, with the addition of some wood, decor and softer lighting, it would create a warmer atmosphere for patrons. Additionally, a door or some type of partition to the kitchen entrance would also elevate the setting for those sitting adjacent to. Lastly, while I understand things will never go back to pre-2020, and the world is an altered place, with altered standards, I will note that multiple tables included patrons wearing ball caps and hooded/printed weatshirts while eating. Considering Gianni Figs food to be higher-dining quality, the dress code did not align and affects the ambiance. Food Rating: 4.5/5 Ambiance Rating: 3.75/5 Overall Rating: 4.125/5

Salad was fresh and crisp with a light balsamic vinegar and olive dressing. Bread was good and a side plate for oil, balsamic vinegar and Parmesan cheese. Meatballs were soft and flavor full, sauce was sweet and exploded with flavor as I chewed, pork ribs were nice, soft and the bricole was the star of the show. It broke apart removing it from the family style bowl. $30 each and it was amazing. Family owned and operated, nicely decorated, delightful little place. I will start talking about Figlio by saying my first experience was at a political fundraiser. So the food was buffet style...not the regular service or menu. BUT the food was on another level. This was authentic Italian food at its best. The Chef Bob is retired and Figlio is his retirement!! This is a family run establishment. Bob's niece, Kristin, is the front of the house with her daughter. They are open Wed. through Sunday. On Friday and Saturday they do a prix fixe for $60. The menu changes all the time. They do Sunday Sauce on Sunday, oddly enough. Once again the food I had was out of this world. I will be back to experience the various iterations of the food and will report back. If you are anywhere near Palmer, MA do yourself a favor. Five minutes off the Mass Pike.

Our server was equally delightful--friendly, attentive, and spot-on with recommendations. Now, the food: outstanding. We started with the beets and peas salad, which was bursting with flavor--our plates were practically licked clean. The house arugula salad was crisp, fresh, and perfectly balanced with a light, lemony vinaigrette. For mains, we shared the roasted half chicken and the bucatini. Both were phenomenal. I rarely order chicken at restaurants since it often feels too plain, but this one was perfection--crispy skin, juicy meat, and seasoning that carried through every bite. The bucatini, made with homemade pasta and loaded with crispy pancetta, was absolutely irresistible. We couldn't resist finishing with the "Little Mason Jar" dessert, which was indulgent and delicious. Everything--from the service to the food to the ambiance--was exceptional.
