The interior dining area has a few tables, large windows that make it bright and yet you sense you've found a one-off favorite. You will love the unpretentious servers that focus on getting your food that's it, good thing you will know what I mean. Large portions cut fresh meat off an actual rotisserie gyro-cone. I went for a trail walk and decided to grab something to eat afterward. I stopped by El Greco and was so glad I did. There were only like about five items on the menu, I ordered two of them and they were fantastic. I ordered their Chicken Souvlaki Salad and Beef Gyro, and both were packed with flavor. They were generous with the meat and vegetables in the gyro, which was delicious but a bit difficult to eat because it was huge. Wow. Based on location I didn't expect much but OMG was I wrong! The owner served me and was so nice and helpful. The Greek Salad with gyro meat is INCREDIBLE! And such a great price. The container is absolutely stuffed (I put it in a bowl when I got home, sorry). It is flavorful, just the perfect amount of everything. Everything is fresh and you can see the quality ingredients as they're building your order. The gyros and salads are all made to order so you can customize to your hearts content. The owner and his employees have always been friendly, engaging, and helpful. You won't leave hungry that's or sure. They will pile on the meat and veggies whether you order a salad or the gyros. They have a limited selection of drinks in a refrigerator cabinet "self serve" style. There's also some appetizers and desserts to choose from. Another day another review. Today is El Greco a Mediterranean restaurant located in St. Charles. El Greco delivers on good food and reasonable prices. We're Gyro fans and found a place closer to home. El Greco provides classic Greek fanfare with traditional music to enjoy while you wait. Wife ordered the chicken gyro and I went with the classic gyro. All the traditional condiments complement the meal and did I mention large portions? One gyro can easily feed two people but we were really hungry from all the post thanksgiving shopping. Only issue and not a complaint was the chicken was really overcooked but still made dish delicious. Mediterranean salad is what we also looked forward to and didn't disappoint! Restaurant was extremely clean and tables serviced very quickly. El Greco has seating for eat in as well as serving take out as Boeing is located next door and frequently visits during lunchtime. This little hole in the wall gyro joint is a hidden gem! We had heard about it and wanted to try it out. We're the only ones in here at 2pm on a Thursday afternoon. The owner is the cook and took great care of us!! The gyro is incredible, but especially so for the St. Louis area. I had EL Greco bookmarked for a bit and had been wanting to try it. It's on 94 all the way to where boats access the river. For some reason I had in my mind it was closer to Main Street but that's cool. I ordered the gyro with feta and no tomato. It was very good. Fresh vegetables and spiced right. If I had one complaint it is that the meat was slightly dry. Not sure how long that cone was spinning. I opted to take my gyro to go as it was very quiet there. My boyfriend is from Chicago and always complains that we don't have a good Gyro place in STL. He's been searching for one for over 5 years... I stumbled upon this GEM of a place by accident and WOW! Great food! Great service! The place is so clean and welcoming! They actually shave the meat, unlike most places around here. I brought the food home for my bf to have after a very long day at work and even after it had been reheated... he's all smiles! I tried some too and it's so delicious! For those of us who spent the 80s growing up around the north Highway 94 area, the location will bring waves of nostalgia as El Greco is located in the building that used to house the long-since-closed Mrs. Minute convenience store. El Greco definitely spruced up the old building. When you arrive you are greeted with the colors of Greece. The inside sines with bright white with blue accents. Thanks to all the white it is abundantly obvious that the employees do a phenomenal job of keeping the restaurant super clean, even the restrooms are meticulously clean and that is very appreciated. Both times I have visited the same man has been working behind the counter. He is very friendly and makes a great Gyro. On our first visit, my sister and I were the only people in the store and while we were enjoying our lunch he came out and brought us each a complimentary slice of Baklava. So thoughtful and absolutely delicious. The food is all tasty and delicious. The Greek Salad dressing has a bright, clean flavor and all the salad fixings were fresh and delicious too. The Gyro meat is flavorful and moist and the taziki sauce is perfect. The only detractor to El Greco is that it is definitely out of the way unless you live in New Town or Mammell Hills. Something St Charles has been missing for sometime - Authentic Greek Food! Only open for 6 weeks, but the owner operated a Greek Restaurant in Atlanta for 20 years. Super nice guy! You can tell he cares about his product and his customers. We grabbed the family Gyro Plate deal - really tasty. Soft pita, and great tasting Taziki.
