Sitting outside on a summer day transports you to Mexican ( or Caribbean) holiday. So fun, highly, highly recommended. The star rating is not accurate. The person leaving a one star review really wasn't fair. I love some good Mexican food. BUT I'm a bit picky. I love authentic flavors and learned not to judge a book by its cover when choosing spots. I'm always open to try new places. We ordered some food for delivery. We ordered a torta, which was absolutely gigantic. I'm talking two meals worth of food. It was stuffed too. Only down side was the inclusion of onions and jalapeños when we asked for them to be left out. We also ordered enchiladas with green sauce. I had really high hopes as this is one of my favorite dishes! I was somewhat disappointed. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I'd say just average. The sauce is what made it just average in my opinion. The green sauce was very acidic and I've never had it taste quite like that. It threw off the flavors. The taste of the meat was good though. This came with rice and beans that weren't good unfortunately. The rice was very bland and the beans were super watery. I didn't even eat it and I felt bad wasting it. I definitely had higher hopes. It seems like the tortas are a strong area for this place and they should definitely keep up that quality. read more

We've been talking about returning to El Guacamole since our initial visit - and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the enchiladas con mole and the enchiladas suizas. The mole was as good as I had remembered; rich, deeply flavored, and reminiscent of the best moles in Mexico City. The suizas were a surprise; deeply flavored, lots of lime, filled with tons of with delicious tinga. After the dinner, I asked the waitperson where they were from - she's from CDMX, the chef is from Puebla. For the hardcore Mexico travelers, you know that the centers of brilliant mole are Puebla and San Pedro Actopan. The margarita was huge, the beer was cold, and the salsa was spicy! Advice: skip the watered down texmex stuff (like burritos, chimichangas, and crispy tacos) and order comida Mexicana autentica! read more

The five stars are for the veggie nachos! I don't think I've ever had them as good anywhere ever. They have sautéed vegetables and just the right amount of cheese and it's a nice portion... just right. The restaurant itself is just OK in terms of decor and ambience, but they're nice in a quiet sort of way and I only go there for the nachos. read more

Placed an order on Doordash and waited 90 minutes. Called to check on status of the food and was informed that the app hadn't found any delivery drivers in the area and thus they hadn't prepared the order. After all the confusion, they said they were cancelling the order because they were closing soon. A phone call informing me of the situation would've been professional and expected, given that I could've worked with the business to pick up the food or find an alternative. By the time they told us that they wouldn't be fulfilling the order, all other local food businesses were closed and there were no other options that night. Please work on your communication and take accountability for your mistakes. p.s. Posted on Google Reviews but would like to make a contribution on yelp to honestly to reflect the restaurant. Avoid this place like the plague if you're intending to eat there before a show at Stissing Center. It's the typical story of a restaurant with no professional manager and harried employees who can't assess the big picture because they can't cope (as there is no one to direct them or set standards). Our food was ok to good, not bad but nothing special, and as we got there around 5 to 5:15 we ate and got out before the meltdown. Many sitting at tables and those sitting outside (as well as those ordering takeout) placed their orders at the counter, rather than waiting at the table for their order to be taken, and must have also picked up their orders and carried them to their table, to largely avoiding the waitstaff shortage and other issues. A group of 4 who sat next to us, who we saw at Stissing, told us that at 6:45 they asked for the bill for their drinks, as they could no longer wait for their food, to be told that they had to pay for the food, or the waitress would call the police! So they paid, and she made them wait and then pack their own takeout boxes, and gave them the finger (other reviews have mentioned this practice). Whoever is the owner of this place, step up to the plate and manage the place or hire a manager. It was so tense after 6 that we won't be going back. Pine Plains needs more restaurants. Guacamole Grill might be fine during an off time, or when Stissing isn't hosting a show. But I'm not going back to find out. PS I'm not blaming the waistaff, only 2 persons who also had to make the drinks during a too busy hour, but being so nasty is simply reprehensible. read more

Horrific! I ordered via DoorDash and was supposed to be done in 30 minutes...the order didn't come until almost an hour later! When I got my food, the hard tacos were so soggy that I had to eat them with a fork. The nachos had some sort of mole sauce that was super sweet and made all the nachos very soggy and unappetizing. This used to be my favorite spot, but it's been on a fast decline. I was able to tolerate dining in an establishment with no heat, wobbly tables, disappointing take out (the enchiladas Rojas were a disgrace, sauce was like water mixed with ketchup), and sub par service at times because I like their tacos... but after this last visit I will never go back. I took my partner on a kid free dinner date, I ordered my usual to be safe because the food can be hit or miss. My partner ordered a wet burrito that was dry, flavorless and not quite what was described on the menu. He took one bite and sent it back due to the poor quality of the food. They charged me for it anyway! I was floored!! I've never been to a restaurant that charges patrons for food they didn't eat, ever. I have been a regular customer since they opened in Hyde Park and I was really disappointed by this. The lady told me she would charge me a little less but refused to take it off, instead of arguing in a dining room full of people including the town judge, I just cut my losses (and her tip) and left. This town doesn't have many options for restaurants and they take advantage of that to the fullest, by serving low quality food in a building with no heat. Had some difficulty ordering on the phone because no menus online so I ordered my go to "Chimichanga", wife got the burrito. This place is on point. Carnitas and steak were flavorful and seasoned well. Good Mexican style cheese. Two awesome sauces to top your food off. Roasted pepper and a green sauce. Both fresh and delicious. Prices are reasonable, portions pretty big. I sat in my car and they brought the food out too me. It was around sunset so went down to the lake near by. Awesome experience. I asked for iced tea with lemon, got it with lime. While my food was good, my boyfriends tacos were very blah, the rice was terrible. He asked for 2 hard tacos and 1 soft. Waitress said they don't do that. We said they did the first time we were here. She checked, yes, they can do that. But because she didn't write it down, she brought 2 soft and 1 hard. I was served a generous basket of warm chips with delicious salsa verde right from the git go and the kitchen kept the homemade goodness coming with subtlety rich flavors that tempt the palate. Ordered online, was originally told by the app it would be 45 minutes for a single fajita. Then received a text from Doordash that it wouldn't be ready until 8:00pm. I ordered at 6:36pm, I didn't want to wait 1.5 hours for a fajita. When I tried to cancel with the restaurant, the server rudely told me I had to cancel through the app. The app says for any order issues or refunds to contact the restaurant. This restaurant clearly cannot handle ordering online, so do so at your own risk. They have also raised their prices a significant amount in the past year or so. read more

Excellent burritos, made very quickly. We were passing through this area during the covid-19 pandemic. The waitstaff took all the necessary precautions with masks and social distancing. I felt very comfortable eating here. The dining room was not open for business, but there is a quaint gazebo across the street from the restaurant where we ate our food. Disturbing experience. Ordered takeout and there was a METAL STAPLE cooked inside my food. I called not to ask for a refund but to let them know as a courtesy and was yelled at by the woman who answered the phone. I almost cried because I wanted to be helpful to a business in my small town but she told me it couldn't have happened because they don't use staples in the kitchen. long post but I truly hope you'll read and give your input: this afternoon at 12:15pm I ordered from El Guacamole in Pine Plains, NY. I ordered two Texas style tacos one with ground beef and one steak, and then an el guacamole rice bowl no pico de Gallo or meat. I picked up my order, got home, and once I had opened it up I realized I was given the fajita rice bowl. I called and said "hi there, I just came in to pick up my order, I ordered the El Guacamole rice bowl but received the fajita rice bowl" The woman on the phone : "oh okay, would you like to pick up the El Guacamole rice bowl" Me: "Yes please, no pico de Gallo or meat please" Her:"Okay, see you soon" I went into about 15 minutes later. There was a couple sitting with there maybe 3-5 year old. The woman behind the counter asked me where the incorrect meal was. I told her I had not brought it. She stated she cannot give me my food unless I bring back the other to be sure is not eaten or I can pay for correct meal too. I said I was sorry but she hadn't told me on the phone to bring the incorrect meal back and especially during COVID 19 I didn't think to do that. She said that every restaurant expects the customer to bring back the incorrect food and that I need to go home and get it if I want my correct food. I told her that I would please like my food and feel it's unfair since she had not said this on the phone. She said that I should just know. I said that I really couldn't understand how she would expect me to know that and that I would please like my food. She then said she will give me the food but kept shouting to me that it's coming out of her paycheck because of me. That if I really want the food that she will have to pay for it, and kept reiterating that it is all because of me. I took the food, went home, got the incorrect food and brought it back before sitting down to eat the correct food. I didn't want her to have to take it out of her pay, I felt guilty. The couple with the child was still dining. When I brought it in I gently and quietly said "I'm sorry, I really just feel like it would be helpful if you'd specify that you expect for the incorrect food to be brought in when this happens." She again, reiterated that I'm the only one who doesn't know this and every restaurant does this. I asked if I could please have the contact to her manager because I felt that the way she was treating me was really unfair. She then leaned against the counter smirking under her mask and said "and how may I help you, I am the manager" I couldn't believe this woman was the manager treating someone like this. I just said it's really sad and unfortunate and left. I tried so hard to be gentle with my words and keep my voice down to not disturb the family eating. It was clear that the woman working didn't care who heard her. I also understand everyone is going through something. But I felt that this was completely horrifying. And it's unfortunate because my husband and I order from here at least once a week and look forward to it. And now we obviously cannot eat there any longer. I had tipped, and what she had given me incorrectly was $4 more than what I had ordered as well. I have also learned that she is not the manager, she was lying. read more

Here the food in el guacamole pine plains, The food is just amazing everything from the food to the drinks is amazing. I recommend to try the enchiladas, nachos, and quesadillas they were mind blowing in my opinion. The new paint job outside is gorgeous and the inside the colors make the inside of the restaurant alive. I sadly don't understand all the complaints when they say rude service. When I bet they try so hard everyday, they are humans too you know, try having a company with short staff and dealing with rude costumers of course you might lose your patience. People say that if people can't handle that than they shouldn't own a company but it's not that easy we need the money to keep our families with food on the table and make them happy with the new clothes and warm home they need.The women who works there everyday is so nice and her family is so sweet mostly her baby's. El Gucamole was a last minute surprise. Just dropped in. Place was very clean. Service was helpful, personable and professional. Food was very good. I really liked my chicken fajita ($14.99). Heaping serving of chicken over a bed of green peppers and onions, all well cooked. The sour cream was very good. My friend very much liked his vegetarian burrito, which was enormous! Green tea ($1.08) was fine. The chips and salsa that came before the entrees had two very good sauces. Definitely worth it if you are in the area.
