Their menu is extensive for a truck. After 4 decades of eating Fish Tacos, invented by a restaurant in Ensenada, Baja California Norte, Mexico, I have tried every form of them in Upper and Lower California. El Habanero has definitely hit a high mark with their interpretation of this standard. Requirements of an Ensenada Fish Taco: Two fresh, supple corn tortillas (full size, not the "street" version) - Check Large, flakey, fresh, white fish fillet lightly battered and deep fried - Check Crema (Mexico's crème fraîche less thick than US sour cream) - Check Cold, shredded green cabbage - Check Salsa Cruda (chopped tomato, onion, lime juice and cilantro) - Check Hot sauce on the side - Check Having met the requirements in a quality and quantity way, El Habanero has a bonus for the Treasure Valley eaters - they use Shredded Oaxaca Cheese (cross between Monterey Jack and Mozzarella), Michoacána Cotija crumbles and avocado slices. All this was well balanced in flavor and texture, making this an all-star taco for any aficionado. They closed at 4 pm because of the 100+ degree day. I was told about this place from a family member so thought I would give them a shot. We had a wedding party and needed a taco truck and catering . They went above and beyond for us, even kept our event date even when another bigger party asked for them on the same date. They are extremely loyal and were super nice. We always have catered parties and this was definently the best one yet. All of the tacos were beautifully displayed on plates.. They had utensils and a delicious choice of salsa was provided and organized. My family took a little bit of time getting together when it was time to eat and they were very patient. They didn't rush us and made us feel important. Im very happy with the service that was provided and I will be telling all of our friends and family about this business. Best tacos and customer service we have had in a long time. Thanks guys! read more

Tacos are decent. Typical street taco set up. Limes are always so dry which makes me sad every time. They get my repeat business strictly based on location. Fish taco was lacking a good amount of fish but flavor was great. Beware if you go around lunch time you will have a bit of a wait. Huge blue collar cult following each day. If you're female be ready to feel the burning from all the male population eyes as they wait for their orders. Ha! read more

The truck has a good setup and looks to be well maintained. Went at lunchtime with a steady stream of customers. Ordered a Carne Asada burrito and two Carne Asada street tacos. Tacos were small, but had good flavour. The carne on the tacos was pretty good, nice chopped chucks with good flavour. The burrito on the other had had an okay amount of meat, but I felt overwhelmed with the beans and rice. Kinda just felt like a bean burrito with some bites l. The meat could not of been the same carne Asada used for the tacos. It was essentially Roast beef. Rice and beans were good. The "hottest" sauce had good flavour but was really missing the kick I had hoped for. Overall good experience, kind people, just some personal preferences that I didn't care for. read more

Worth stopping by if you are in the area. Tacos ($1.50) had a lot of meat, burrito ($6) was pretty stuffed, and service was quick and friendly. Carnitas were tasty, not fabulous, but good. Haven't had a decent taco since I moved to this state. Why, oh why, have I been avoiding the food trucks?!? These tacos were fantastic and I've fantasized about inappropriately / almost gone back four times since the first visit. As always, I go for variety to get a good idea of how they operate. I didn't try anything but tacos; however, they offer some mean looking tortas, burritos and gringo cuisine (gyros, burgers, fries). The tacos I got were carnitas, fish and adobada (because they were out of lengua for the day... a good sign!). All tacos came with what I believe to be the standard toppings: cilantro and onion. Bam. Carnitas were great and just what I expected. They were juicy (dry carnitas suck) without being greasy. Adobada was great and very flavorful. The fish taco was a little bit above the others. Stacked with cabbage, cilantro, onions, tomatos, cotija and cheddar (will ask for no cheddar next time) and crema. The fish was fried, which I like in food truck fish tacos. Optional hot or mild salsa; I went for the hot and it didn't disappoint. Most tacos are $1.35, the fish was $2.00 and oh, so worth it. Give these guys a shot! read more

Ask for pork, you get chicken. Ask for Asada, you get cat food? Ask for a torta, they can't make it at the time. This truck is only open a few hours on random days. Don't rely on them for consistency or quality. I'm completely unimpressed. Over cooked meat, hard tortillas and extended waiting times. I feel most disrespected by the fact that when I took my food back, they wouldn't Comp or replace it. Avoid this place. read more

After taking a 4 hour class with the Department of Health in Idaho on food safety, as a Californian I naturally ventured on a walk to a taco truck! This trailer is a great place to get real fresh authentic taco truck food. The guy that runs it has great customer service. The prices are real low like a taco truck normally is but the portions are big. He runs out of meats sometimes but will put out specials when he starts to run low like pork specials when everyone is ordering steak. I was excited to try this food truck, being a huge foodie i love the mobile scene! However i was met with several disappointments. At first glance the menu board is uninfotmative and misleading. There is just the menu items with no descriptions or choice of meats. I ordered a steak burrito, with spicy hot sauce. The picture on the menu showed veggies and avacados on a grilled burrito. I had recieved a very nice looking burrito with only a single sauce cup of very distasteful and weak hot sauce. The burrito was overloaded with rice, and short on steak. A splash of beans and a couple jalapeno slices and they called it good. The texture of the rice edged on the overcooked side, but had nice flavor. The steak was good and tender as well. But overall a very disappointing meal to spend 7 dollars on. Needs some grilled peppers or something to take away from the starchy beans and rice. A bit more seasoning would have been awesome too.
