After reading reviews my curiosity had me visiting the hood. Nice location right outside the bruery. I ordered the single smash burger. The burger was oversized the bun got mushy fast, flavor sub par. Expecting a nice juicy burger, not as amazing as I was expecting. The fries were good. Stopped by here on the whim while we were walking to a nearby restaurant but decided to check out The Hood instead. Safe to say, we weren't disappointed! The Hood offers a unique menu, ranging from Korean fusion fries to a classic Oklahoma style smash burger. The food truck was manned by only one guy, who I assume is the owner himself. We didn't catch his name, but he was friendly and can cook up some great food! The Gochu Fries were yummy! But if I had to nitpick, I wish the fried chicken bits were as warm as the fries. The Oklahoma smash burger was also great! The patty had some crispy edges and still had a slightly pink center which is a sign of a legit Oklahoma burger in my opinion. By far and away the best craft burger I have ever had in the State of Idaho. Sids, Wyld Child, Holy Cow used to be up there for Idaho, but no more. The burger and fries are the closest thing to heaven I've ever had, and you won't want to miss them right now. I honestly don't know how they do it. Note, that this means this is the best burger in the state, it is the best burger in comparison to any in California or any other surrounding state. There was not a bad bite. It is as if Jesus has blessed the chef and your taste buds, it is a literal masterpiece. Everything is made with care, you will experience euphoria and what a burger made with care actually tastes like. Juds, Big Bun, the new In N' Out Burger, are good in their own respect, but not even the same echelon as Hood Burger. Hood Burger is on top of the pyramid, everything else is just ok. Everything is made to perfection. I am not sure if it is because they are in a food truck and not an upscale restaurant, but these guys truly care about their product. If you want a cheap burger with the typical result go to one of the other local places, if you want the best burger for around $15 go now. Caught the Hood food truck when it was at the State street food truck area. Burgers and chicken and fries! We ordered the huckleberry burger. The pepper jam was mild in spicy level and the huckleberry really popped in with sweet flavor. I would highly recommend the burger and fries. We went to Gem State Brewing and they had The Hood serving up burgers out front. We decided to give them a try and are so happy we did! We got the Idaho Huckleberry burger and the Deluxe. Both with garlic truffles fries and a side of their Huckleberry jam. While eating, we thanked the food gods for this place. The burgers were perfectly cooked, juicy and held together by a soft brioche bun. The toppings were fresh and crisp, with a healthy serving of bacon on each. The garlic fries were smothered in a truffles sauce and minced garlic. The fries were perfectly crispy and soft all at the same time and there was plenty of sauce for each fry. Some places are stingy with toppings and The Hood definitely is not. We put a little of the Huckleberry jam on a smothered fry and this was by far our favorite combo. The spice from the garlic and sweet of the jam was the perfect marrying of flavors. The chef was amazing, friendly and timely. He was even able to make a perfect patty on the side for our dog we had with us. She was in heaven. We honestly couldn't have enjoyed our experience more. read more

They were at the Scottish Heritage Festival this year and it took about 45 minutes to get two cheeseburgers and fries with not that many orders ahead of us. The burger was undercooked, pink in the middle, drowned in ketchup and mustard, the fries were cold, and unsalted. The bun was the only decent part. I expected better for the wait and $15 a burger.
