    Tacos

Heard these were good tacos and being a Latina I had to give them a go being from LA. It's a food truck with a few benches to eat your tacos there. The menu has a few things you can order from burritos, tacos, tortas and other fun items. We ordered a Carne Asada Burrito and it has rice, beans, meat of choice & lettuce and avocado it was pretty good. We got some tacos as well and not sure if she mixed up another ordered but we were short 3 tacos on our order and that was a bummer.. I was really looking forward to them. Their asada, carnitas, el pastor were all really good and authentic flavor and loved that the pastor had the pineapple chunks as well. One thing I did dislike was I asked about chips order and it said $5 when I asked her if I can just have a couple, she was a bit confused and asked the lead there. Apparently they didn't have chips in their truck and had to go find them. That should have been my no thank you but I figured ohh let's give them a try. Once we got to our house and saw the $5 chips I was honestly a bit upset they were store bought nacho chips. Tacos are $2.50 I don't understand why chips are $5 and they aren't even like your traditional Mexican chips or something along those lines. That was my only downfall to this place but those are just chips. Their food was honestly good no doubt about it when we were ordering they had a few people eating there and a few to go orders. Maybe take them off the menu or make little baggies and purchase chips from a Mexican store or make your own tostadas..

Amazing place to have tacos! The food truck is located outside of a house where they served the food. They have tables on the side that you can sit and enjoy your tacos. Overall, is a great place to have tacos with good service and food!

Pretty good tacos! The horchata was a little chalky but I really enjoyed the rice, tacos, and salsa. Liked the outdoor seating area as well.

Street Tacos-make sure to get fish, shrimp and trips tacos. These are amazing!!!

While visiting Idaho, we stayed in Boise and McCall and came across a taco food truck on Yelp. It's a cash-only place with outdoor seating, and there's an Albertsons nearby if you need an ATM. We liked it so much we went twice. The owner is really nice. We tried different street tacos, and our favorites were the shrimp, fish, and tripa. We also had their hot batts, which were good, and they gave us Aqua de Jamaica (not on the menu), which we loved.

El Chavo is popular among Boiseans, especially those who live around Vista Ave, and for good reason too. Tucked away behind a tiny house, El Chavo serves up some of the most delicious Mexican street food in Ada County while maintaining reasonable prices and sticking to authenticity. I'm giving my Carne Asada burrito ($7.50) a solid 5/5. The dang thing weighed nearly a pound. It was stuffed so full it fell apart as I was eating it. Thankfully, they provide plastic forks at no extra cost. The meat, rice and beans provided just the right amount of flavor. I may have died and came back to life. Not an exaggeration - it was that freaking good! I also appreciated the side of grilled onions and jalapeño that I added to a couple bites. I probably should have saved half of it. I was so stuffed I didn't even need dinner that evening. All for $7.50? You can't really beat that in the city!

I was introduced to El Chavo by one of my friends and I'm so glad he did! They are a taco stand that serves authentic Mexican food takeout style and in generous helpings. I usually order a carnitas burrito and adobada taco combo which is $14-15 and includes a can of soda. I also like to order an horchata which is $3-5 and comes in 2 sizes. Other fillings include al pastor (pork), cabeza (cow head), chorizo, asada (steak), pollo (chicken), and chicharron (pork skin). They also have tortas, enchiladas, quesadillas, and tostadas to name a few. I will certainly be returning soon with an empty stomach and recommend them trying them out! Thank you, El Chavo. :)

Shame on my previous, fellow Californians, both Alta and Baja who have said that they cannot find good Mexican food around the Treasure Valley. A shocking number of reviews that claim a Mexican restaurant here or there is authentic when they show loads on gobs of gooey yellow cheese. Shame, shame for not getting out of your comfort zone and doggedly promoting places that smother their food with gobs of yellow cheese. THERE IS NO YELLOW CHEESE IN MEXICO. STOP EATING AT PLACES WHERE THERE IS YELLOW CHEESE. Behind a little house at 3940 W Overland Rd, Boise, is parked a perfectly fine food truck that can boast a great Mexican kitchen with an authentic Mexican mother cooking. That is the secret to good Mexican food - mama. El Chavo (the kid)Taqueria has been around for quite some time at different locales. It has an extensive menu of meat fillings, certainly one of your favorites is on the menu. The authentic Mexican mother inside the truck can make anything you can imagine as your favorite dish. Service is fast and English-speaking friendly for those who need it. They have a breakfast menu to include a breakfast burrito. I tasted one and loved it. I can imagine that all the items are authentic because they are made with a mother's love. The prices are more than fair, even cheap like a full sized carnitas burrito with rice and "frijoles de la olla" (beans from the pot) for $7. Can't go wrong with that pricing. Plenty of on-street and off-street parking. Patio furnture creates an al fresco dining area in the front yard under the shade trees. Boycott yellow cheese, switch to a kitchen run by a Mexican mother and your problems with bad Mexican food will be solved.

I cannot believe the level of deliciousness that came out of this taco truck. Probably some of the best Mexican street tacos I've ever had. And husband said the same thing about his torta. Then the shrimp cocktail! Holy smokes it was so yummy! Don't miss this place if you're a taco snob like me! You will be happy with the food. I promise.

5 taco combo: carnitas and buche

After a year of living in Boise, finally found a place with consistently great Mexican food. Have been here about three different times, tried the gordita, tacos (chicken, chicharrón, carnitas, buche and adobada), and the quesadilla. Highly recommend, fast and friendly service. This may sound weird but I appreciate the fact that they don't deliver but you can call ahead. Everything tasted hand made and fresh, salsas are not dumbed down. You will be hard pressed to find better mexican food in this area.

It was just spicy enough to be noticed but not enough to ruin the meal. We pared it with the Cadillac margaritas which were amazing. I had the carnitas dinner which was delicious and abundant. It's very inviting, if not decadent feeling. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were lacking. My mocktail was recommended by our server, but it was much too sweet, and had a weird aftertaste. We ordered chips, guac, and it came with two versions of salsa. One was incredibly bitter (tasted very vinegar-y), while the other just tasted strange. Neither me or my husband like it. The guac, however, was very good. We ordered the Seafood Ceviche, which is a dish we usually love, but not so much here! It was covered in an orange sauce that was overly acidic. It was so much and so acidic, we couldn't taste the seafood. It was lost in the sauce. It seems as though whoever's in the kitchen lacks some culinary intuition. The staff were good. It'a dimly lit, even during the day, for those with sight issues.

A decent Selection of lunch menu offerings, I went with Chili Verde, pork in green sauce, eithucorn tortillas. We ordered chips and salsa, interesting because it's not complimentary as in so many Mexican places, is one hotter yellow sauce with pineapple, a typical medium sauce, and a mild, plus beans were ordered. The chips were gold, house made, the yellow sauce was definitely good, would probably be great on fish tacos, but the medium red was what I preferred with chips. Lunch arrived with the obligatory "hot plate" warning meaning it had bern in the oven. As always, I started by trying the rice and beans, v both were good enough I nearly finished them before even trying the Chili Verde. What was interesting here was I wanted to use the larger than average sized corn tortillas to get every bit of the verde sauce off the plate! Something, we were too busy talking to tell, was different. I don't ever remember wanting to sop all the sauce up with the tortillas before! Would I come back, yes, there is enough that looked interesting to return.
