First time trying the Chicken Fajita Salad, it was very good. Waitress was okay, she only came once to the table after she brought our food. Place was about half full, staff didn't look too busy. Hello , to whom it may concern, I have seen this lowdown way to make money off customers before. When paying my bill the receipt does not mention any added fees ,if using a credit card and the cashier did not mention a fee would be added for using a credit card, if i was told i would've paid cash. With all the Tax Breaks business get to use, this fee is uncalled for. P.S. are server jacky was never around to check on us ,when i needed water and i had to ask another server for my bill. El Herradero is located in a nice modern building on the main business street in Uvalde. The interior is nicely decorated and appointed with attractive Mexican furniture and furnishings. The restrooms and restaurant are clean and well maintained. The menu is rather extensive and includes a wide range of the typical TexMex items that you would expect and a few nods to the food from Jalisco. Service was good. I had the Jalisco plate. It was good and the quantity was huge. The quantity of food and value for money is good. I guess my biggest complaint is that everything was average. The standard Spanish rice and refritos were fine. The beef was marinated and OK, but pretty much what you will find in any other TexMex restaurant. If you are looking for a good clean restaurant with average TexMex food, this is your place. read more

We went in on a whim but are very impressed by the food. The Fajitas Texans were tender and had that flavor of a well seasoned grill. We came here on our way back from Big Bend National Park so we were all tired and hungry. For a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, this place sure hit the spot! Took them 20 minutes to get us drinks then another hour to get half of our orders (there were 6 of us). Two other plates came out after I informed them we were still waiting. I wasn't going to call their attention any longer, because I don't work there, they do, so I didn't ask for my missing meal. Everyone was close to finishing and I finally got my food. It SUCKED!! Trompo was undercooked and the presentation was that of "oh shit we forgot her plate!" Fajitas were burnt, nuggets and fries were over fried, and we all got diarrhea when we got home, into the next day! Save your money and your stomach and DO NOT EAT HERE. Beer was not ice cold. Rice was cold so was steak. Tortillas appear to be home made and thick. They were warm. Pinto beans were warm. The waitress came once to the table. Had to get up and request another beer and request coffee. Waitress apologized but did not offer to bring another plate or even reheat the existing plate. Side note table not steady. Brought to attention of waitress we received an apology. No mention to fix table or change to another table. From a 1 to 10 a ten being best. This is a 2 for me conclude food and service. read more

The menu has a ton of options with pictures to help those not familiar with mexican food make it easy to order. And the pics look like what you actually order, no filters here! They have all the standard mexican beers, so we ordered Modelo Negra, quite tasty and smooth. We ordered a taco salad, mexican plate, milanesa, and crunchy tacos. EVERYTHING was delicious and homemade. Large portions too! Don't forget to take your homemade fresh tortillas for home. Clean place, tasty food, and wonderful staff. Definitely worth the stop. What an odd place. Beautiful inside and out BUT several issues. My husband ordered margarita with grande mariner' topper and I ordered a glass of red wine. Waitress said they don't serve wine and no grande mariner' so hubby ordered house frozen margarita and I ordered Diet Coke and Makers Mark. They brought his margarita which was pure ice, no tequila, and a shot glass of Diet Coke with a splash of Makers Mark in it. Hmmm so I asked for a glass of Diet Coke with a shot of Makers Mark mixed in. They brought me a 20oz tumbler of Diet Coke and a .5 oz shot of Makers Mark. ‍ We ordered queso, which they also do not serve. In fact, they served NO APPETIZERS. So we ordered beef fajitas for two. They brought us two plates with stewed beef pieces cooked in veggies and sauce. A bowl of Ranchero beans and tomato rice. No tortillas. They had to cook some real quick. So we waited. Five minutes later they brought us 4 tortillas. It was the strangest Mexican food experience we have ever had. Now I know why it was empty at dinner time on a Friday.
