I come here each year when I visit Uvalde. The food and service are definitely good. I'd definitely come here again.

The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with everything on it and split the papas nachos (loaded fries) as an appetizer--and wow. The burger was hands down the best burger I've ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The nachos were next level: loaded with bacon, hamburger meat, and completely smothered in queso. Truly to die for! Can't say enough about our waiter as well, he was attentive and had excellent manners. Overall a wonderful experience. read more

The food we ordered tasted excellent and cooked to perfection by the cook, Walter. I had fried Chicken tenders plate and my husband had the liver and onions special, which he said was some of the best liver he has ever had. The grilled squash on my plate was also cooked perfectly without too much oil. The waiter was attentive and nice and took my credit card and phone with my MyRoyaltyRewards promo code and returned with my receipt. I looked over my receipt and saw I did not receive the MyRoyaltyRewards promotion of $5 off my meal, nor double points for my purchase. I went to the cashier and told her I did not receive the $5 off or double points. The waiter had already closed out the transaction so the cashier gave me $5 cash out of register and gave me points but only 25 points, not double. She also did not return my paper receipt to me. So, I would say that the employees need to be better trained on the MyRoyaltyRewards program and how to enter it in the system. Glad I didn't read the Yelp reviews before we went! On Google it looked all right and it's definitely a local spot. Never been in this town (or part of Texas) before so I thought I'd stop by with my godson. We both had the Tex Mex sampler platter (I forget the name on the menu). He ate up and he's kind of picky so, two thumbs up for him! Our server Claudia was friendly and our sweet tea and food came out quickly. It was fresh, tasty, and satisfying. The "guisidi" (i hope I'm remembering it right) carne stew, to me, was the star of the platter. If I return (I'm from out of state) I'll just order that - it was really really good! Everything else on my platter was good too, but the carne stew was the standout. If I'm in Uvalde again I will come back. read more

We have frequented Town House for a long time. Yesterday we had a really terrible experience and although I have forgiven odd occurrences in the past, this is beyond the pale. Perhaps staff was fighting? We ordered even though they said they were understaffed by two people because we like this restaurant and were willing to put up with slowness. We ordered a hamburger and a Nora's quesadilla because we thought it would be pretty simple and fast to make. People who came in much later got more complicated food in decent time. All were obviously friends of the waitress as she hugged a few of them. An hour later, when I was thinking about giving up and leaving, the waitress came out with a quesadilla. She walked around talking to three tables of her friends while slinging around what ended up being my plate. Who does that? She finally brought it after everyone in the room had a chance to look at it and breathe on it. It was not hot. My husband's burger came at least 15 minutes later without the sweet potato fries. She blamed everything on the general manager, the cook, and her prosthetic foot. TMI. I'm pretty sure none of those things made her take 10 minutes of visiting between the kitchen and our table! This is unacceptable and just plain weird. In days gone by, there would have been a discount on such terrible slowness and horrible bizarre service. There wasn't even a thank you/we're sorry. Just excuses, passing blame, and trash talking. I realize we were one of the few white couples there but in the past that really has never made a difference in this place which usually has nice Christian music playing and sweet servers and great food. Today everything felt freshened and up to date, clean and well appointed. Staff was very attentive and the food was great. Just passing thru. Saw lots of cars so we figured it was the place to go. As soon as we walked in we thought it was senior hour. There were a couple of families and it was busy. Booth was dirty, floor dirty, and menu had dried food on it. Opened napkin to get silverware and there was a black hair inside. This is when we should have left. We had the chicken with veggies and avocado, chicken was good but the broccoli was obviously sitting around for awhile and overdone. The chicken was put on lettuce leaf that was definitely old. Was very hungry so we ate it all. Beer and wine are overpriced for type of place, so we passed. The bathroom haha, can pee and wash hands at the same time. Great veterans disc. Thank you. read more

I'm shocked that they are owned by the same family because service/management at Townhouse is terrible. We used to eat here often. Until they hire new staff I'll take my business elsewhere. Town House isn't the kind of place you go to for its unique atmosphere, its exceptional service, or its diverse menu. It's a meeting place for friends and family in the center of sunny Uvalde that serves a great cup of coffee, has a fresh lunch buffet, and provides dinner specials for every day of the week. A colleague and myself landed at Town House sometime around the Fall of 2010 after trying out the various restaurants around Uvalde. Although TH serves Mexican food just like 90% of the establishments in town, what differentiates it is the presentation of their food as ultimate comfort food. Servings are always hearty, deep-fried, and with a side of ranch...if you wish. Compared to the other Mexican food places in town, you get flavors much more palatable to American tastes than to Mexican. The salsa is unique with its embellished use of cumin and is served with deep friend corn, as well as flour, tortilla chips. If you're wanting food suggestions, go with the quesadillas (nice and buttery), the carne guisada plate (very filling and delicious), or an Old Fashion Burger (which is the dinner special on Thursdays). Careful with the Pub Nacho Pile-up...it's massive and you'll feel your heart slowing down just at the sight of it. Burgers are served with awesome steak fries and taste great with a fatty side of ranch. Oh, and they advertise Shiner, but never have it...so don't bother. Just like everything else in South Texas, service will be slow. Even Applebee's in Uvalde is slow. If you're on a time constraint, don't expect to be able to sit down anywhere in this town besides a fast food place and be out within an hour. Depending on who's working, the service here won't be awesome, but being rude doesn't get anyone anywhere. I say all of this to say: keep your expectations in check. Many out-of-towners (including myself upon first moving down here) are appalled at the service they receive in this part of the state. Even after all of these let downs and expectation adjustments, I still find myself coming back to TH. I think it's the comfort factor, but it's probably just the salsa. Healthy lifestyles and vegetarians are few and far between in this town, so don't expect too much accommodation as far as the menu is concerned. If you need/desire healthy, go with Subway or Applebee's...those are pretty much your only options. If you want a taste of a Uvalde tradition, complete with comfortable comfort food served at a comfortable pace, then Town House is where you want to be. read more

This place is an overpriced IHOP. I've only been here once, so take this review for what it's worth. I went in for breakfast one morning a few days ago. I ordered heir special: eggs, pancakes, sausage patty & bacon. It was all tasty. The bacon was over done and in little tiny bits which I didn't like. Overall, I think Town House is overpriced and, prolly, overrated for Uvalde. You can skip this and get McDonalds breakfast, at least there you'd have wifi access. read more

I walked into the establishment and read the sign that said wait to be seated. I'm standing at the front observing an almost empty restaurant. 2 minutes go by and it turns into 4 minutes, still nkt even a we will be with you from the staff members who see me, but said nothing to me. Then a white male and a Hispanic young lady walks in, immediately one of the servers asked them if they needed anything and how many will be in their party. I asked one of the patrons if I was visible to them and they concured that they could see me. Only after I confronted the waiter about the blatant disrespect on behalf of everyone working there, did the guy then look at me and ask me where I wanted to be seated. I have traveled all across the state for my job and never have I seen or had to experience anything on this level. Skin color does matter at this establishment and in this day and era couldn't have seen any clearer indication of this fact. I'm new to town and they've had a help wanted sign in their window as long as I've been here. I came in to apply and was given terrible service. The girls were more worried about what was going on on their phones than their customers. The beef in my tacos was undercooked and I waited 15 minutes for my server to come back so I could ask for cheese to add to them. By then my CRISPY tacos were cold and SOGGY. What irritates me most is when the server did come back to the table, she was bringing me a check, not to see how my meal was or if there was anything I needed. Terrible service, terrible food. We were in Uvalde on Sunday night and this was the only dang place open. I read the reviews and was a little nervous but due to it being the only place open I didn't have a choice. First thing we noticed when we walked in was tons of locals, that gave me hope. Chips and salsa was excellent to start out with, we ordered chicken fried steak and avocado ranch chicken sandwich. The chicken fried steak was great! Fried okra and baked potato were too. The sandwich I was a little less impressed with, but I'm pretty picky. Huge serving sizes so we both left stuffed!! I had to pick one star because NO STARS was not an option. My husband ordered an egg white veggie omelette, no onion & no cheese, grits with honey instead of hash browns & dry wheat toast. I ordered 2 banana pecan pancakes with sugar free syrup. At 12:00, our server comes back to our table and informs us that they are out of pancake batter so someone went to the store to buy more. Umm, ok?? Around 12:20 our server returns with my husbands meal, an egg white omelette laden with onions, burnt hash browns & a tiny bowl of grits. She informed him that they were out of honey or they couldn't find any. About 5-7 minutes later, she returns with my pancakes & my husbands dry wheat toast. Umm, they went to the store for pancake batter, can ya grab some honey while you're there also?? My husband enjoyed his dry toast & tiny bowl of plain grits. I ate almost one full pancake, it was marginal at best...definitely not worthy of BEST PANCAKES ON THE PLANET!!! Our server never returned to our table...NEVER!! We went to the register having to pay for such awful food & service. Well, hello waitress, we meet again!! She is the one ringing us up, my husband asked her to please not charge us for his meal, it was NOT what he ordered, she obliged. This place was full of people, so either Uvalde has NO choice of restaurants or the locals have just become accustomed to extremely poor service and bad food. In response to the reply from the Town House. I ate there three times. Each time the food was bad, as was the service and the place looked and smelled filthy. Instead of lying claiming everyone thinks it a great place... Clean the place up and get a real staff. Get a cook that knows what they are doing. FYI each time I was there the place was nearly empty. Locals said they won't go there. There is no need for me to waste my money on inedible food. Take care of your business properly and your reputation will change.
