I know it's *technically* not in Gahanna but this is the best Gahanna (adjacent) Mexican restaurant! I will not go anywhere else. When I'm craving a strong, fresh margarita I go to El Rodeo for a delicious drink and a strong buzz. Mixed with fresh ingredients, none of that premixed BS other places in Gahanna claim is "fresh made" and delivered promptly to the table. Not only the drinks but the food is also fresh and incredible. I love getting three assorted flavors of their authentic street tacos and they always come out made to perfection. Well decorated and well lit Mexican restaurant with accommodating parking. The complimentary Chips & Salsa was delicious. Well executed salsa with lots of flavor. This is more of a Modernized and Americanized Mexican cuisine. Just not much real Mexican flavor. All food was good, just seemed lacking real flavor or execution. The margaritas were the reigning champ. I had a raspberry margarita and it was accompanied by a selection of fruit and the alcohol to juice content was nicely done. We were seated quickly, given a large colorful menu. Our server took our drink order quickly. I asked him what was popular or a meal he likes to eat He recommended the Mocajato. I love a good Mocajato but wasn't willing to drop $24 the first time I visit a restaurant. I ordered the fajita quesadilla with chicken. It was HUGE but lacking the cheese I was expecting. On the other hand it was stuffed with meat and vegetables. No complaints there! On the side was lettece, tomato and little sour cream. Hubby ordered a chicken chimichunga with a side of refried beans. He was served 2 chimichungas filled with only chicken. The meal was topped with queso, lettuce , tomato and the tiniest amount of sour cream. Chips and salsa were served with our drinks. The chips were not special. They lacked seasoning and I added salt. The salsa was kinda watery. But it had a tiny kick. It was actually very good. I have 2 complaints. I was drinking water because it was a hot day(88°) and I have a 20 mile drive home. (The special was half price margaritas but I had to pass on those) The server offered to refill my drink. He did. But all he did was top off my glass with room temperature water. All of the ice left in my glass quickly melted and I was left with room temperature water. First World Problem, I know. We each received one little bowl of salsa. I asked for more expecting an El Vaquero-like carafe of salsa for two. We received one more little bowl to share. This place has a lunch buffet. The price goes up on the weekend but I like the idea. The ambiance was festive. Large art work, flags over the bar, 6 TVs and festive tables. There is music playing but overall it is very noisy. We would return and I know now to ask for ice with my drink refill and extra sour cream on my side. I took pictures after we started eating but the portions were substantial! read more

The all u can eat bar was soooooo small! What I don't get is their menu is plentiful of food items but the bar was scares! It was $15 just for the bar to have 5 items! Then the cold bar had all the condiments and maybe 3/4 fruit items! I was disappointed because I found them from Facebook and it was going viral so I decided to check em out and I wasted my $20! $15 for the bar and 3 for the drink then tax was $20-$21 We eat outside and we had to put up our own umbrella because the waiter said she was too short and after waiting 10 mins no one came we got on top the table and did it ourselfs! Bae said the food was ok and nothing was hot everything was warm. He only eat the soft tacos only because he made them how he wanted them. It was quiet and huni they was coming by the boat loads. I came here last time I was working in Columbus and forgot to leave a review. In fact, I came to Yelp to see if a had left a review because I couldn't remember if I liked the place! I didn't remember anything bad and I was in the mood for some chips and salsa so I decided to return. Thankfully I did. The chips and salsa were top notch. The chicken fajitas really hit the spot. Parking: This location shares parking with the nearby stores, but I've never seen this lot full when driving by. They have plenty of parking, but it would be nice if the landlord would add more lights at night to feel safer. Parking was fine though. 4 stars. Order arrived exactly as I requested. I was finished with my meal and check was paid by 9:29pm. My entire visit only lasted 40minutes. 5 stars. Food: The food was fresh and good. I had no complaints. Based on my taste buds, it was worthy of 3.5 stars. Ambience: This is a great place for relaxing first date, dinner with friends, or family. The flavors were just ok however the waiter brought my food with a glove on and said it was extremely hot but my food was just room temperature and that was slightly disappointing. Yelpers, the food here is amazing!!! The flavors make you wish you lived there to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The servers are amazing and super respectful each time I come with my students who mean the world to me. It is clean and arranged nicely. This time, however, was VERY different. My server was not as involved as she should have been and I found myself needing to ask other servers for help. She gave me a bill that was for about $60 and I gladly presented my card. She came back with the receipt and it said $80 and some change. My eyes bulged! I went to the counter to ask what happened and the server said she forgot to add something on my bill. Imagine my frustration that a new bill wasn't presented so I could choose another card or simply be aware that the change was happening. THIS SERVER CHARGED MY CARD WITHOUT PRESENTING ME WITH A RECEIPT FOR THE NEW PRICE. This is very illegal and should not happen to you if you go there. If a receipt with the proper price is not presented they must charge the amount on the receipt they first showed. Because I love this restaurant I didn't make a big deal there but my trust has diminished greatly. I no longer feel safe bringing my students here or even friends. Edit: I went again today and it was great. The food was just as delicious and this particular server was kind and very present. She made sure I had what I needed. I tried El Rodeo on a recommendation in a Columbus food group I'm in and am so glad I did! I stopped in to try their lunch buffet and was not disappointed in the slightest. The buffet had tons of great options sure to please everyone's likes and dislikes. My favorites were probably the taquitos and the chicken enchilada. They also had a cold bar with all kinds of salad fixings as well as toppers for tacos like lettuce, tomato, sour cream, etc. For dessert on the cold bar they have some fresh fruit as well as delicious sopapillas. Nice ambiance and good service. The place wasn't very busy when we arrived so we had the pick of seating and were promptly seated and served our drinks. I ordered the combination fajitas with chicken and beef. When it arrived there was more than enough for one person. The condiments were good but a little skimpy on the pico. The flavor of the fajitas was good but not like I am accustomed to back in Texas so I was a little disappointed but not enough to keep me from devouring the whole plate. The margaritas were a mix, the lime was ok but the mango was tasteless and my wife said it was one of the worst she's had. We both ate our meals (street tacos and veggie fajitas) and neither of us liked the result. Ww shared some rice and beans but also felt it fell short of expectations. The service was good until we asked for the check. We had to ask 2 more times. Our waiter had a great attitude but he was always busy helping with the bar and I never got a refill on my drink. They deserve 5 stars but the location is just terrible.... I went to try their birria and I thought it was great. 3 big tacos, stuffed with birria and cheese. I added on a margarita too (not pictured) To my surprise, the tacos also came with chips and salsa. All of this was only $20 and very delicious. Now about the location. Ladies watch your back here....as soon as I pulled up something felt off. I didn't like some of the folks hanging in the parking lot and riding by. My gut feeling was there may have been some human trafficking or drug dealing going on. I honestly was hesitant to get out. I finally did and made sure I was parked close to the door and could see my car from the window. I ordered take out and made sure I watched my car the entire time. When my food came I got to my car fast, locked the door and pulled off. I made sure to text a friend that if she didn't hear from me within the hour something was up.
