Food was delicious, authentic and made moderately fast. Service was quick and friendly. Ambiance was a small hole in the wall vibe. Recommend!

    Mango con chile. Must try!

My husband and I were tasked to pass out flyers to reach out to the Latino community. I looked up Mexican restaurants near me on Yelp and el jalisciense came up. I decided to go and get some Tacos on the way. I ordered a magonada and three tacos de carne. The owner Luis was very nice and he gave us a mango with Chile for free! It was the last one so they must sell a lot. I am not surprised they sell out it was so deliciously sweet and with the Chile peer added some extra flavor. Muchas gracias Luis!

I discovered what tortas were in college when a friend from california asked me to bring them back to campus on my weekend trips to NYC, and in the process I've developed a taste for them as well. Unlike most sandwiches you'd find in 7/11, these have a lot of stuff in them--lettuce, meat, cheese, sometimes beans, avocado, jalapeno etc. Like yakisoba sandwiches, they're a lot and I often feel gross and oily when I'm finished eating--but no complaints. I passed by this truck on a drive to Haleiwa, and fortunately saw the truck still open on the way back. The parking was a bit confusing--we turned into a back street then had to make a u turn and drive around a building and park kind of by the truck behind a temple or something (sorry--can't help you on where to park). Prices weren't bad for mexican food in hawaii and I love the idea of food trucks generally. I got a carnitas torta with everything, spicy. The pork was crisp, fatty and moist, balanced just a little by crisp lettuce and tomato. The crisp, thick bread soaked up the juices from the pork and peppers, mixed with the cheese and onions. Yum. I also got a cup of esquites for my little brother, and ended up eating all but two spoonfuls during the drive home. The workers gave me a cup of some kind of cucumber lime juice while I was waiting and that was wonderful. Thanks to them for that. Although it's quite a drive, I hope when I get better at driving I can make it back for another torta soon.

Lakeside Tacos Sounds good right? Ive passed by this truck at least a dozen times and today was its lucky day. Ive never seen a line here, that alone should caution any adventurous foodie but I had to find out if this lonesome truck sitting by the lake was something special. Hidden off a hard to see driveway on Wilkina Drive, I traversed a narrow path behind a blue building only conspicuously marked with a letter "G." (Dont miss it or else a tricky long u turn all the way back!)I ordered a steak burrito (standard taste testing item for me and Mex food) and three tacos (its taco tuesday yo) each with diffrent meats for sampling (chicken, beef, and pork). Wanted the Tamarind drink but they were out, bummer. Service was nice, but too quick, which made me a bit worrisome on the outcome. Sadly, none of the tacos wowed me, all tasted the same and was made wayyy to fast for me to deem it made to order. The tacos were also a bit soggy which makes me feel bad about mentioning this truck was lakeside to "Lake Wilson" (reservoir, large pond, resovoir, or whatever its called lol). Burrito was better, good size but I did say mild to both orders, they ended up way too hot for my sister to enjoy. The burrito was packed but the meat and beans were a little hard. The rest of it was rather dry. I feel like this truck may have had its best days behind them. "Ironically", I hope they can turn the "heat" on and "spice" it back up tho! MRC=4%

Delicious el Paso tacos, rice, and beans. The Mangoniada are outstanding Definitely coming back.

Mangoniada, 3tacos: shrimp, pastor, carne asada

Another place that sells legit street tacos that could compete w/ LA food trucks. Make sure u get them w/ spicy salsa. Tacos are already topped with the salsa, cilantro, n onions. Shrimp was awesome- big pieces and the avocado salsa on top is very flavorful. Pastor was ok. Carne asada could be better-It seemed like I got the end pieces or leftovers of the carne asada. Mangoniada is just how you would expect it- sweet, sour, and just a hint of spice. They give you the tamarind candy straw separately.

This place is amazing. The two guys who run it are so friendly. It's in a awkward place near Schofield Barracks, in a parking lot. But it's definitely one of the best food trucks on the island for Mexican food.

    spicy steak tacos

These tacos brought life back into my soul. A smile back onto my face. A sparkle into my eye. This dining experience left me feeling at peace with the universe. A playful balance of spices, onion, and lime waltzed across my tongue leaving me feeling truly satisfied. Need I say more.

Planning the "expedition" for Mexican grinds in Waipio/Waipahu…read more When Bruddah Fran C. and Sistah Gail U give a thumbs up to a restaurant, you have to stand up and take notice. I happened to be in the Waipio area, a rarity for me, and decided to see what might be worth taking back home. I had never heard of Acapulco but was in the mood for Mexican grinds and when yelpers Fran and Gail reviews popped up, I knew this was one to try. They have indoor and outdoor dining options. Both spaces are very clean. I ordered two plates to go. Both plates came with rice and beans which were delicious. The gave a nice quantity of food. My meal of choice was the combo chili relleno and a beef enchilada with the red sauce. Both were delicious and did not get drowned out by the sauce and cheese. Excellent balance and taste. With gas prices being what they are, coming here is only going to happen when I'm in the area. But the delicious taste will make me think hard for any excuse to get to Acapulco restaurant when I'm in the mood for Mexican grub.

I can't speak for the service because I always get takeout (Although from what I can tell, it's…read moreexceptional) but I had to leave a review for this restaurant. I've moved over 60 times in my life and have eaten at multiple michellin rated restaurants, and I've only left about 2 or 3 reviews for restaurants. But please, please, please believe me when I say, the food here is PERFECT. The seasoning, the quality, every bite full of flavor and culture. This is THE BEST mexican on oahu, and could hold it's own even in the mainland. Please do yourself a favor and treat yourself to the food here. If you enjoy full bursting flavor in every bite and hate bland food. Then you OWE it to yourself to try this! Why the rating isn't a perfect 5 stars, I don't know, but I wish I could give this restaurant 10000 stars for the joy that their cooking has consistently brought me. Thank you for always being the best!

I woke up today craving tacos!…read more So I got up, showered and got my work clothes ready and convinced my partner to take me to take a drive to Waialua to Surf n Salsa! It didn't take much convincing by the way since we love the place that much! Today I had the cheese and a potato empanada. It was delicious. I bought three to share and I was already full with one. I also got the cucumber lemonade and Raul got the pineapple jarritos. I drank almost all of it. I ordered two Carne Asada tacos this time without the plate sides because I figured I would be too full with the empanadas and I was right. It was just the right amount. We tried the nachos this time and it was delicious and filling. It was loaded with refried beans and guac and cheese, and all of the fixings. What a great way to start my day. And you know what was even more exciting? We decided to go to the back and check out the distillery for the first time and was impressed by the helicopter that we saw outback. We even got to get a drink while we waited for our food. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very nicely decorated bathroom inside as well. This place has easily become my favorite place. My family is coming by this November and this will be my first stop to introducing them to Hawaii as my favorite place to eat in my new place I call home.
