Stopped by around 5pm and the place was empty. Greeted by a nice friendly gentleman at the cashier. The vibe was definitely cool, open air comfortble place with seating outside. I ordered a Cabo and steak taco to go. Shortly my ordered arrived neatly packed along with napkin and plastic utensils. I opened the first box and was amazed how the Cabo taco looked. Packed with beef, shrimp avocado and salsa along with a container of sauce. The first bite was heaven! The tortillas was cooked perfectly and held the topping intact allowing a big scrumptious bite. Next was the 2 steak taco stuffed with beef, cheese, tomato with a lime wedge. It was spectacular. I'm from CA and know good Mexican food. This place is the bomb. We have been craving Ceviche ever since he got to Hawaii and heard about Da Seafood Cartel from lots of people. We saw it as we were driving by and decided to stop in and check them out. We preferred from the delightful lady at the counter and she answered all our questions. The shop is small but there are tables inside and outside. This must be the place - considering there are 2 locations and both are close to 5 stars. We hit the North Shore location just in time for lunch. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when we walked into the small shop- ok most *local* eateries have been small. They call it Sonoran Style, I'd say it's more Sonoran take on Hawaiian foods. Order at the counter and a short wait. Poke Bowl for me and Orale Poke Nachos for the Mrs. They were both loaded with the seafood mix. Excellent taste and a lot of food. Da Seafood Cartel is a small shack located off the highway, and is super easy to pull over on the side of the road to pick up some amazing food. I ordered two OG tostadas to go and it came with 4 tostadas, the crab spread, and the ceviche. The girl that took my order was kind enough to give me a plate for my order. My boyfriend and I ate it at the beach and omg, my life was changed in that moment (I'm not even being dramatic). The ceviche was so good and fresh, and the crab spread was SOOO GOOD. In addition, they have fresh made-daily homemade Horchata, that is unmatched on anywhere on the Hawaiian islands and rivals most of the Mexican food we've had in California and Mexico. Marcella and her team offer fantastic customer service. She saw we had questions, came out from behind the counter and offered a sample of her ceviche with a smile that sealed the deal for us The location is perfect after a day surfing and ambiance fits right into this North Shore town (Haleiwa). Looked delicious. Tasted awful. Worst poke bowl I've ever had. The rice was so hard, as if it was a day old and not cooked with enough water. Everything else tasted ok, but since the rice was so hard, I had to eat the toppings by itself, ruining the bowl. (What's a poke bowl without rice???). If you don't mind the walk and you're not from here I'd recommend parking across the street from the post office and taking the walk and visiting all the little shops. Seen this location on Tik Tok drove past it on the way to north shore decided to stop by after a day of snorkeling. Where do I begin.. The service is great as expected. The shrimp ceviche was amazing tasted fresh and just overall delicious. The tostadas were a great addition to the ceviche it wasn't store bought it was made in house which took this ceviche to another level.
