Traveling through this small town on our way to Rosemary Beach. We have three little children and needed a good, safe, clean, yummy place to stop. I read the reviews and decided to go with El Jalisco Mex. Loved our stop. The food was good, fast service, clean and the chips, salsa and queso were yum! Stopped through on the drive to the Gulf beaches. Cool old building in downtown and very pleasant staff. Food was tasty, delivered quickly. Staff wore masks and followed safety protocol. I must say, the bathroom was spotless which is always a nice plus. read more

The best Mexican I've eaten in a LONG TIME! We were driving with the Youth Group from Whitewater rafting in Columbus; no one was hungry enough to eat dinner in Columbus, so we looked for a place in Eufala and ended up here. After browsing the cute boutiques downtown and checking out the farmer's market, we quickly got a table for 8 and ordered. We didn't receive any flak about individual checks (believe it or not, some restaurants whine about that!); our service was prompt and the food was delicious! I got a steak fajita salad and loved it - the salad bowl was the freshest and tastiest I've ever eaten - they're usually so greasy I don't finish eating them! Highly recommend this place! read more

Went here on a Sunday evening....table for 1. Drove 30 miles to eat dinner in Eufaula since there were not many places open where I was lodging in Georgia. I was seated right away. But no one ever came to offer a drink, take my order or tell me they were so busy they would get to me. Five employees each passed my table several times. After telling the couple at the next table I could not get waited on I walked out. There were many nearby choices for dinner so I ate a Southern meal of fried chicken and vegetables. read more

Everything was fine BUT our server (curly blondish/orange hair) She was so rude. We asked her for extra chips as we got 2 cheese dips. (She only brought 2 baskets and 2 salsas for 7 people) She nodded. We waited and waited and waited. She disappeared for a little and came back and sat some people down and left again, still no chips. So we stopped her again and politely asked for more chips and she looked at us and then proceeded walking away. Just ignored us. When we walked in she didn't even greet us. I could already tell she didn't wanna be there. Which I get it. It happens. But to be a complete rude ass server for no reason is unacceptable. She then (I guess because we didn't see her after that) handed us off to another server, she had brown hair, who was actually very sweet & attended us well. But HORRIBLE service from the other girl. We just wanted to have a nice Sunday lunch with the family after a long hike and instead dealt with a rude ass server. I recommend this restaurant only if you don't get that girl as your server. I hope the owners see this and have a talk with her. I'm not one to ever leave reviews but she was so rude! I'm a waitress myself & I don't let my bad days interfere with my service to my customers. I ordered 3 taco salads and you would think that they would give you 3 bags of chips and salsa yeah right. This order is for 3 different people SO one bag of chips and not very big thing of salsa (which one person could eat) the guy tells me that I have to pay 2dollars more for each meal which is a bunch of crap!!! When you order a meal to go it should not matter how many you get each one should come with there OWN bag of chips &salsa And the salad didn't even have cheese on it what kind of taco salad is that! The reviewers fibbed on this restaurant. Not only was the food not authentic, it was either tasteless or bad. The chips were stale. The salsa tasted like marinara sauce with some spice added to it. The cheese dip had no flavor. The Pico de Gallo was shredded lettuce and cut up tomatoes. Possibly the worst offense was the use of some type of shredded American cheese on the tacos. The food has no flavor and I am pretty sure they use canned enchilada sauce. The ground beef has a very strange powdery texture. Business took me to Eufaula and my preferred barbecue restaurant was closed, so I took a chance on Mexican food east of the Mississippi (something Lyle Lovett says to avoid) and was appropriately disappointed. El Jalisco is located in the historic downtown area of Eufaula. It's a fantastic location and the owners of El Jalisco would do well to step up their game and make themselves more worthy of such a great location. I arrived during prime dinner hours and the restaurant was fairly busy, but not full. The hostess was flirting with a guy at the cash register and ignored me for 3 - 4 minutes. When she was done with her flirting, she seated me. And I sat. And sat. And sat. And sat some more. I am 6'3", 200 pounds, and exercise regularly - I'm hard to miss. But apparently I was in stealth mode, because I was not greeted by any wait staff until I hailed a waitress and asked for a glass of water. My waitress eventually showed up. No smile, no greeting, no nothing. At the risk of her disappearing for another protracted period of time, I placed my order right then. I ordered an appetizer of guacamole and the Chicken Mole for an entree. The chips were okay, the salsa was runny and had no spice at all. The guacamole was equally disappointing - thin, no tomato or any other ingredient for spice or color. The Chicken Mole was just gross. The chicken itself was dry and tough, the mole tasted like something out of a can and congealed on the chicken as it cooled. The rice and beans obviously came out of a can and after one bite of each, I concluded I wasn't that hungry. The service was lousy throughout the meal, so I left the appropriate tip for lousy service - ZERO, NADA, ZIP, NOTHING. I wish more customers would have the backbone to do the same when they receive lousy wait staff service. Yes, these people make less than minimum wage and depend on tips for their income. But it is THEIR choice to work as wait staff and only THEY have the ability to provide service that merits a big tip. I routinely tip 25 - 33% for outstanding service, but when I receive lousy service, I'm not afraid to assign it the appropriate monetary value - ZERO. I finished my chicken remembering Lyle Lovett's advice - 'never eat Mexican food east of the Mississippi or north of Dallas'. He's right. Owners / managers at El Jalisco: I get that you're not in prime Mexican food country so you may not know how to produce high quality or authentic Mexican food. But you CAN do something about service. Tell the millennials working for you that they are not entitled to a job or a tip - they have to earn these things by providing an acceptable level of service, which includes prompt seating and greeting of customers, a smile, and at least some faked warmth and friendliness. read more

El Jalisco is by far the best food in town. I get take out from here every week and the food is great. The salsa does have a kick and its fresh, the queso is made with gold so the portions are small but the flavor will make you want another order. I honestly wish I could give more than a 5 star rating. We eat here often, lunch, brunch, and dinner sometimes a few times a week. I will say that over time things have changed dramatically. From management, to hostess, to servers, and we miss the old staff. The food is always good service is just hit or miss. Especially when our favorite is not working (Jamie). There is nothing like getting really amazing service from someone that has been there the longest. We love her and would love to see her scheduled more often lunch and dinner. Please READ THE MENU!!! Ordering the chicken Fajita Nachos you will not get the onions and bell peppers on the nachos it is meat cheese and chips...if asked do you want the veggies it is because you will be charged extra for them. Regardless of the service you get if you have a party over 6 you WILL be charged 15% gratuities...you can be charged for extra for chips or salsa at there discretion...if you order cheese dip ASK for the chips that are meant to go with the cheese dip or you will not get those....I am sure it is dependent on the waitress you get but if you need more to drink you must ask for that also...if you happen to have an issue with the food or service do not expect to talk to a manager until you have talked to multiple waitresses and again request management before your meeting eat your food but know she can not change anything on your ticket because the owner will say it is on the menu and the same manager will tell you the menu has mistakes on it and can be confusing...This is your every day Mexican joint the food was typical american mexican food but the service is not the kind and understanding typical restaurant service...eat at your own discretion but please check your bill! read more
