Still, one of the best Mexican restaurants, serving their customers, good meals at good prices and friendly service. Definitely, a destination to enjoy good food with family, friends and relatives! Definitely a go-to spot!

    Chorizo and egg taco $1.65.

I'm hanging around the barrio again on Spur St. I tried a chorizo and egg taco through the drivethough. I found the tortilla to be hard around the edges and the chorizo and egg lacked flavor. I probably won't be back as Milly's across the street also has a drive though and her tortillas are soft, homemade and delicious. In comparing these Spur st. joints with Seguin taquerias (taco tejano, las palmas, the palms), there is just no comparison. Seguin is outstanding with the tortillas, salsas, and meat fillings.

Popped into El Jardin for breakfast and the breakfast tacos did not disappoint. The fillings were very generous and service was on point. Tortillas were tasty but a little on the hard side. I would definitely return to try other dishes. I really like El Jardin because they have a nifty drive-thru that I've been using since I was in high school. There are plenty of seating options and they have a nice bar in the back room.

    So goooood

I also ordered the Mexican Benedict. The presentation was beautiful but the combination of ingredients made it a flavorful and balanced combination of deliciousness. The cornmeal pancake combined with the tomato jam and the spiced up hollandaise sauce over the slow cooked tender pork truly elevated the flavor on this Mexican spin on eggs benedict. Our server was attentive and helpful with re compensations as it was our first visit to the restaurant. The dining area is large with ample seating and beautiful elevated Mexican decor. I'm so glad I finally got off of 35 to try this restaurant after years of driving by.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a more polished atmosphere than I expected. We were seated quickly, and our waitress was excellent--friendly, attentive, and especially kind and accommodating with our kids throughout the entire meal. I originally wanted to order the barbacoa, but our plans changed when we tried modifying the kids' meals. We asked about adding picadillo to their bean and cheese tacos and substituting fruit for the rice and beans. We were told adding meat would be $4 per taco and fruit would be another $6, which would have more than doubled the price of the kids' meals. Rather than doing that, I ordered the one-pound fajitas with chicken and Wagyu beef so we'd have plenty of extra protein to share with the kids. The kitchen was pretty slow, but thankfully the chips were excellent and they kept them coming. The salsa was served warm with a nice amount of heat, and my oldest son absolutely loved it. In fact, the chips were apparently too good. Between the long wait and unlimited chips, my 7-year-old managed to eat enough of them that he eventually threw up. That's entirely on him--not the restaurant--but perhaps the strongest endorsement of the chips I can offer. My wife ordered the sangria swirl margarita and enjoyed it, although we were surprised by how few flavored margarita options were available. I went with a mezcal cocktail that was delicious, well balanced, and definitely wasn't shy on the alcohol. Once the fajitas finally arrived, they were excellent. The Wagyu beef came out medium rare exactly as requested, and both the beef and chicken were flavorful and well prepared. Ordering the larger portion also worked out nicely for sharing with the kids. Overall, we'd come back, although probably more readily for an adults-only dinner. The food, cocktails, atmosphere, and especially our waitress were all excellent, and the staff was genuinely kind to our children. The biggest drawback for a family meal was the lack of flexibility with the kids' menu. Some reasonably priced à la carte options or easier substitutions would make this a much better choice for families.

After a particularly long day, we decided to give them a try for an early dinner. We are so glad we did! We both decided to give their enchilada plates a try. I had the cheese and my husband had the beef. Both of our dishes were great! The food came out piping hot and plentiful. Our server was very attentive, but not intrusive. She checked on us regularly and even offered to bag up our chips and salsa that we didn't finish. They seem to have a very nice outside eating area with a playground for the kids. Since it was over 100 degrees that day, we chose to sit inside. We will definitely be adding Herbert's to our list of places to go when we're craving Mexican food!

The pina colada alcohol drink was amazing ($14) On the menu there was breakfast, Mexican, burgers to choose from a very wide variety of food. I read "quickly" on the menu that with a party of 6 and up including children there's an automatic 20% gratuity, just a heads up. We ordered chicken enchiladas with Crema sauce and rice, birria tacos , steak fajitas and more. It was very good and worth the price it wasn't badly priced in my opinion the food was very good and the food was out very fast. There was mister fans keeping it cool since it was a hot day and people had dogs and children playing on the playground it was super nice in the afternoon with the lights on the trees and music playing! We will definitely be back

Margaritas are delicious and have at least a shot of tequila. Voted best margarita since 2012 and I cannot dispute that. Chicken nachos hit the spot. Ate light getting BBQ later.

Additionally, Cantina del Rio advertising they have the "best margarita" made it all the worse that not only was it not the "best" or subpar, it was so bad half of us couldn't finish ours. And since I am being honest, locals warned me not to go to Cantina del Rio for the food, but the drinks were good. Taking that in consideration we have consistently avoided it until today, when all we wanted was a drink after a day in the river. I wish I could say at least the views were good, but after asking the hostess to sit us at the best seats in the house (it was late afternoon on a Tuesday so it was not an unfair request), we were sat outside to see the construction. No "rio". Not even a glimpse. I have to say we snacked on chips and salsa and queso and they were better than the drinks. It's such a cute spot and so disappointing that the margaritas were the "worst".
