Heard nothing but good reviews and decided to finally try this restaurant. It's a small blue house with two small but very clean dining areas. Upon sitting down at the table, we were served salsa and chips, which were really good. I did ask for green salsa, which was also good. The food was really delicious. My only complaint would have been that one of our lunch plates was given to the table next to us in error and instead of replacing the plate immediately we had to wait until that table's order was filled, and they took their plate and gave it to our table. As far as drinks, the Micheladas were good, but the frozen mango margarita had an artificial powdery taste. But overall, our waitress was amazing and super friendly . We have been wanting to come by this place for a few years. We heard great things about Butcher Boys. We wanted to take dad out for Father's Day, so my sister suggested this place. We called in advance hoping to reserve a place for 12 people. They were very courteous and told us that they are a first come first seated kinda place, but they would do their best to accommodate. We got there and they did an awesome job getting us together. You should have seen the looks we were getting. Oh well. They sat us down, brought us chips and salsa. Horrible service, over crowded because the place is so small and everything feels sticky and dirty. Food is ok but nothing that can't be made at any other location like NB TORTILLERIA. We used to call in our order and then pick it up on the way back from church but after today, we are absolutely done with this place.. we had to wait close to an hour to get food that we had called in, no apology. I had requested a refund and to cancel the order so we could just get food elsewhere for our hungry kids and both times she told me no that the food was being packed when in fact, it wasn't even done being made.. On this days adventure I find myself at "Butcher Boy Taco". Where do I begin, first off the parking situation is a bit tricky but once you find a spot you walk in and notice a Spanish Retro Decor and a good amount of seating and a few at the bar area. But the main attraction to this place is no doubt the food. Once you walk in and reach the counter you are kindly greeted and the fun begins. The menu is there and you make your selection. They have a good variety of different options to choose from. Today I chose two tacos, one the Chorizo and Egg and the other one was the "Goldie" which is a Bacon, Egg and Cheese. The chorizo was delicious, just the right amount of spicy but add a little extra salsa and it elevates the flavor. The Goldie was equally delicious, bacon crispy overall it was very good. They have one of the better priced lunch specials daily that include a tea. Today they had the taco salad and it was great!!! I took it to go today and they give it to you wrapped in foil so you have to be careful that it doesn't break. They do tell you that though so it's not a surprise. Parking is really really limited, they have maybe 5 spots in front so you'll have to park on the street. The staff is always friendly and they have a really great vibe. This was my second visit to Butcher Boy Tacos, and while the food itself isn't bad, the overall experience leaves a lot to be desired. I waited over 30 minutes for tacos to go, which felt excessive. On my first visit, I was overcharged by $2,000 in a tip and yes, you read that right. They corrected it eventually, but that kind of mistake sticks with you. They have a lot of to go orders and the service could've been better. We had to waive our waitress down a few times to get coffee refills and such. While visiting New Braunfels for our annual Wurstfest trip, I woke up craving breakfast tacos. Since we stayed in a different spot than usual, I decided to try something new and am so glad I stumbled across Butcher Boy Taco House. I scoped out the menu and called in my order for my wife and I (bacon bean and cheese, chorizo and egg, potato egg and cheese, and bean and cheese). I over-ordered. These tacos were big and packed, so you easily get your money's worth. Once I arrived, I loved it. It reminded me of the best little taco joints I grew up with in San Antonio. And you could tell that everyone in line or seated were regulars. The line moved fast and the staff was kind. The tacos...HELL YES! The tortillas were fresh and cooked to perfection. They were thick enough to hold the packed fillings but still had the right texture. More places need to make their tortillas like this. They gave no greeting, pointed to a menu when one was asked for, rudely stated that asada and bistek were the same.
