Our go to with the best food and margaritas! Awesome staff! Always friendly and attentive.

I've given this place so many chances but last night was the final straw. I came in with my family and we ordered two large mixed fajita plates at $52 each. What we received was a platter with six pieces of chicken and six pieces of steak with a handful of onions, a dollop of sour cream and a pinch of cheese. Tortillas that were hard within two minutes. I understand inflation but $52 for literally 12 pieces of meat on what you call a large platter is absolutely criminal. We don't complain much at restaurants, but we did last night. Giving two stars because the manager was very understanding and made us an entire third large fajita plate and when that one came out, it had significantly more meat on it, worthy of the $52 price tag! This place was my pregnancy craving four years ago and it has gone so downhill. The chipotle sauce, which really was the craving is now completely tasteless and has been for the past few visits. Ordering takeout from here is even worse. With 1000 Mexican restaurants in the area they could do so much better. Unfortunately, this restaurant has lost our business. read more

One of our nephews told us about this place and said we had to try it. Today turned out that today was the day, We plugged the address into our navigator and headed to New Braunfels. When we got to the loop, the navigator showed it was still a little way to go. As we usually hop onto the loop must be the reason, we had never seen this place. The restaurant is in the back of a little shopping center. Since this was midday, the shopping center was packed. We actually had a hard time finding a parking space. We walked in and were greeted immediately. The space is much larger than it appears from outside. We were taken to our seats, and quickly had a waiter deliver water and menus. When Nicholas found out this was our first trip, he was excited to share his knowledge of his favorite things and make suggestions. While we were deciding, he brought us our chips and queso. We decided what we wanted, placed our orders, and started in on the chips, queso, and salsa. Both the queso and salsa were warm, and the chips were light and tasty. After our food was delivered, we talked with Nick some, and he suggested we come back in the evening as they had live entertainment. We enjoyed our food immensely and decided we would bring our daughter here this weekend as they are coming into town and love TexMex. Nick did a great job of keeping our glasses filled, the conversation going, and answering our questions. I can't say anything about the other waiters, buy if you get him, you will not be disappointed. Will I return? Definitely as we will be here this upcoming weekend:) read more

Very pleased with our dining experience. My wife has the fajita enchiladas plate and I ordered the Stuffed Avocado platter. The waitress said she didn't prefer it over other dishes but I tried it anyway based on previous reviewers. I enjoyed it, pretty tasty though I think the chicken was a bit dry. The star was the street taco. Extremely tasty. I could have ordered three and been happy. The stuffed tostada was new for me but I could definitely get used to it. We both had a frozen margarita to go along with our meal and it was just right (could use a little more tequila). I wanted to try the Queso Flameado but we had already ordered the lunch queso and that would have been wasted and just plain greedy. It's a nice restaurant with nice decor but the take for two is just too small. Hardly has room for out food. If you're in the area give it a try and you won't be disappointed. read more

Service was great as usual, but food for the price has taken a nosedive. I have been getting the seafood soup for some time now, but the last 2 times it has fallen way short on quality. There was barely.any seafood in the bowl all broth. My wife's combo plate has also gotten smaller. I guess we will give them a break for a few months and try them again after the cook realizes cutting corners isn't cutting it. read more

I haven't had anything I don't like here. I've ordered the quesadilla and chicken chimichanga. They definitely give your moneys worth with the meat. I clean my plate every time. The chips are also really good. Fresh made, flaky, crispy and warm. read more

The BEST authentic Mexican food in town! Full stop! From the service to the delicious appetizers, the main courses were tasty and authentic, and the desserts were absolutely worth the wait. Ok....so love that this is a bit of a hidden gem. Luckily with great reviews from Yelp, places like Las Fontanas don't stay hidden. Originally from Texas, I definitely miss Tex-Mex. Other states can try as hard as they may and they taste good but nothing is like home. I love the bright colors and the art work on the walls. Very cute and authentic fiesta looking establishment. Our party of three walked into the place around 6pm on a Sunday. Nobody was waiting. There was not much room to wait indoor and it was really warm and uncomfortable outside. They did tell us it would be a 10-15 minute wait. Luckily, about 3 minutes later the hostess said "Never mind we have a seat for you." That was really good as I may be from Texas but I don't live here anymore and I would seriously melt if I have yo wait 15 minutes outside in that heat and humidity. Whoa...even talking about the heat got me excited about their yummy happy hour for Sunday! I don't know what it is but Texas has the best food and margaritas. Maybe it's the special water that makes up the ice or maybe the humidity attributes to that icy cold fresh lime tasting margarita cooling me off and making me smile. It could be the happy hour price also! My happy hour house margarita was $3.99!!! Did you know you can't even get a Torchy's Taco that cheap! I mean color me impressed with the happy hour prices and quality!!! My husband got the happy hour (which is all day Sunday) street tacos. He could chose from a variety but he stuck with carne Asada. I mean wow!!!! 5 street tacos for $9.99!!! That's unheard of where I live. Shoot! You really can't find deals like that in central Texas either. They had a great amount of tender, great tasting steak and topped with cilantro, onions, and queso fresco. They serve them with a green delicious and addicting salsa. It was so yum! Chips and salsa were great but we did really prefer the green salsa. We also ordered the queso. For our table of 3, we got a medium size. It was a maybe even a little too large for our table but since we don't get this quality queso everyday, we were determined to knock it out. The queso comes with these fried like tortillas. They are kind of puffy, a bit crispy and flaky, and a bit soft. They were interesting. It was like nothing I've had before but for the most part, we stuck to the traditional tortilla chips with our queso. As if you haven't noticed by now, I have so much passion for great food! My teen got the Stuffed Avocado Platter. His plate came out like a work of art. It was beautifully plated. Half an avocado stuff with steak and cheese, battered and deep fried! Delish! He loved his street taco also. The crispy stuffed tostadas was a bit different for us and kind of the same texture as the chips that accompanied the queso. We were not really excited about it. It was okay. Now for the star of the dinner!!!! Not all places are equal when they make this dish and I hate to be disappointed as it is one of my absolute favorites! The Sizzling Shrimp Amarrados was insanely good! Oh my! I didn't even pay attention to my rice and beans. I am sure they would have been delicious but the gulf coast shrimp is amazing! Then you put a fresh jalapeño slice, cheese, and wrap it in bacon and grill it! Oh my!!! My mouth waters and I want to book a flight back right now! Dang. Then....I mean it was already enough but then they go and give you a side of butter wine sauce! I mean...I'm done! I'm cooked. I could eat this for the rest of my life! Thank you so much for not disappointing! The prices were super reasonable. Awesome. This is our go to place for large family gatherings. You can count on superb customer service, great food, and all priced within a family budget. I didn't save my receipt from this weekends' visit but I can tell you everyone (15 people) enjoyed their food & drink selections. We love Las Fontanas for happy hour, but their lunch specials are great too. Today I had the street taco lunch special, that comes with charro beans and rice (though I gave my rice to my husband). The chicken in the tacos is tender and flavorful. I love to green diablo sauce that comes with them. The charro beans are full of bacon and yummy spices. Rice was terrible and flavorless. 4/5 -Veggie enchiladas. No bell peppers or mushrooms. Wish they separated vegetarian options. 4/5 -Tacos Al carbon. Beef. Meat was amazing tender and well seasoned. Rice was terrible. 4/5 -Shrimp cocktail. Very sweet and kind of ketchupy. "Texan sized" with lots of lime, it cut the sweetness. 3.5/5 -Kid's cheese quesadilla with fries. The baby seemed to enjoy it. I think this was a decent spot. The rice and beans that came with the dishes weren't good, but it just might be the Texmex style.
