My 2nd time here didn't really change my mind, unfortunately. Visited on a Wednesday evening and service was truly lacking. Our drinks weren't refilled unless we flagged down a server. (And it wasnt very busy at all on the patio.) Several servers/hosts just chatting it up, rather than checking on customers.. Food- once again, mediocre. This time I had the chicken fajitas. They weren't bad... but nothing to come back for. Salsa was really blended- and not much flavor. Chips tasted straight from a mid-priced bag. ExTREMLY overpriced for the quality of the food & drink. $70+ for 2 entrees and 2 Teas. With many Tex-Mex options in the area, this one didn't hit the spot on my first OR second visit. Overall nothing special but not bad. It has a playground so many families and kids are outside playing around which is where we sat so not sure about the inside. Service was good and pretty attentive. Food was just average. I was disappointed in the Al Pastor, not everywhere included pineapple and the menu mentioned it so was sad when they didnt have any. The rice and beans were just plain. Cheese enchilada was okay. Birria Ramen was probably the best thing we ordered. Not pictured: Salsa at the beginning were delicious so maybe it built a higher expectation. Queso was good yet simple, however guac was just smashed avocado so not worth it. read more

Went here for dinner yesterday and OMG the salsa and chips are TOP NOTCH!! The salsa is my favorite now! Their chips were fresh and served warm! So yummy! The service was great and friendly and polite! They were very helpful with making selections and had a hard time choosing! We sat outside because they have a great playground for the kids to run around so it was spacious and nice bench seating outside! This is one of my favorite places now! Second time coming read more

The food was terrible...My car club took a cruise and ended up at this restaurant...TERRIBLE choice!!!! The ONLY good thing there was the sweet tea and the frozen margarita. Even though we all paid our bills separately...we still got charged a 20% group tax. NEVER AGAIN!!! Normally I'm a great tipper...and I made the right choice not leaving a tip. I've been avoiding this place for awhile. I have lived in NB for 20+ years and we loved Adobe Verde before 10ish years ago, it started going downhill. They got new owners and it was okay but still not great. We heard they rebranded with a new name and owner and we finally agreed to try it. We were seated quickly. Party of 3. They had happy hour, even on a Sunday, but we ordered drinks from their regular menu. Palomas and some spicy drink. I would come back just for drinks!!! They were delicious. Food was fine. Two of us had the shrimp tacos. Super flavorful but so tiny. Birria flautas were good. I could have used more consommé. Bathrooms were clean. Server was sweet. The rice was yummy but the queso was too thick. We added ground beef but it wasn't that great. Oh, the mango pico on the shrimp tacos was great. read more

The lunch I got was great it was there take on chicken fried steak. Was served over mashed potatoes with cheese sauce with roasted corn. It was delicious and just a little bit spicy which enhanced the flavor. The service was good brought are drinks timely and the food was prepared and brought out quickly. The place looks rustic but had indoor and outdoor seating, it's a good place to stop by if you're in Gruene. read more

We LOVE this Tacos y Tequila! Literally anything birria on the menu is fire, the chips and salsa and delish, and all their drinks are yummy! The Cantarito is my favorite drink, so fresh, but just be aware, the regular size is BIG! We had an early lunch here today and just had to leave a review because Harrison, the bartender, was awesome. He was super friendly and efficient, and we chatted about other local spots and FIFA. We appreciated him and the rest of the staff and establishment! See yall soon. read more

We were seated upstairs ( note that my husband walked in with a limp using a cane) He doesn't want to cause trouble so doesn't say anything to the hostess. Were are seated at a table that looks like it has not been cleaned well for ages. The bench had some kind of liquid on the seat that I need to get past to sit. The return vent next to us was FILTHY! We watched a girl wipe two tables and she just pushed all the food on to the floor, mind you, not wiping the table clean in the process. Our food was just OK. We shared botanas plate and shared a beef fajita plate for one. One margarita and the total was $75, with a tip, $88!!! So not worth it. Our server did a good job. We won't be going back. We are locals so eat out around here often. Will spend our money elsewhere. read more

It was an extremely disappointing visit to this restaurant which used to be Adobe Verde. While the service was decent, the food had absolutely no flavor. I had the Chicken Verde enchiladas, they were barely warm and the sauce was bland. You could get better food from the HEB frozen section. My wife ordered the Taco Salad, a very difficult dish to get wrong. Unfortunately, the meat was cold and lacked flavor. There was a lump of sour cream, a lump of guacamole, and a lump of cold meat on a bed of lettuce. My 10 y/o son ordered the Birria Ramen, which he said was excellent. He truly enjoyed everything about the dish. Besides the disappointing food, the prices of the plates had also increased after the change of ownership/name. We paid more money for worse food. I would not recommend this restaurant to my family or friends. This appears to be a destination more geared towards tourists as repeat patronage seems unlikely. I normally would not leave a review but it just feels like we got ripped off. read more

First of all, Ben was AMAZING! Very attentive and fun personality. We are regulars here so know something about how spectacular this place CAN be. The things that keep us coming back (weekly!) are the margs, Birria, salsa and THE MOST AMAZING cilantro rice ever!!!! Tonight Ben was (as usual) fantastic but the salsa was missing something (salt? Cilantro?) and the rice came with a sprinkling of cilantro. Not sure why the side elements were a bit skimpy tonight, but maybe in the future they could be more satisfying. Great Food, Great Atmosphere and DAMN GOOD DRINKS! We love this place and eat here quite often. Their street tacos are great and all of the birria items are great too. Highly recommend their frozen margaritas. Outdoor patio is great for having some cocktails and having the kiddos play on the playground. Owners walk around and speak to the customers and love to do so. Y'all have to come and try this place out! read more

Really need management to get it together here! Good queso and decent margaritas but service is a major struggle. Multiple times coming here and have had to beg for every aspect of service throughout the meal each visit, no matter where we sit- patio, bar top, bar area. Our food order has never come out accurate or complete. Always seemingly enough people staffed and running around chaotically doing their best l but not quite working out with not even that many people eating there. The servers don't seem to blame. Decided to take a group of 5 to this place. Food was ok, not bad but nothing to write home about. Service was less than stellar. The server did not know the menu or bar selections. If you are going to call yourself tacos you tequilla, you should either make sure your server is well versed in what is available or you should include a list of what selections are available from the bar. After 3 back and forth asking the bar if they had a particular tequilla only to told they didn't, I just ordered a single drink of something I wasn't particularly fond of just to make due. Water glasses were also not attended to with multiple people in our group running out of drinks. You have a great location and facility. You should work on some staff development. read more

Decided to try the place out because they were offering breakfast now. I ordered the miga plate. The miga was cold as well as their little squared potatoes and potatoes barely heated. Potatoes are always hot but not theirs. But here's the kicker I asked for a refill on my coffee. It took forever and we were ready to leave at that point when they bring my coffee. I asked if they had to make a new pot why it took so long. He said coffee pot wasn't working. They gave me someone else's coffee cup because it had a ring at the top where coffee had been sitting and the coffee was basically cold. Seriously???!!!! I don't like to give bad reviews so as to hinder a restaurant, but I tried their main menu when they first opened and it was just as poor. I don't know how this place is staying open. read more
