I would give them ZERO STARS if I could. My previous visit resulted in me driving back to return the order they screwed up and receive a full refund. That was sometime in 2024. I was driving by and decided to give them another chance at a take out order. The hostess gave me a menu and told to have a sit at the bar where someone would come by to take my order. When I sat at the bar, one of the emloyees looked at me, turned around and walked away. I guess this should have been a clue? About 3-minutes later, long after I had decided on what I wanted, I looked around to see 3 of the wait staff in a gossip circle at the hostess station (see pic) - less than 10-feet away. I turned to face them hoping that one of them would look my way and Take my order. A couple of minutes of this and I decided to leave without ordering. The hostess finally looks right at me as I walked by and asked, "Are you ready to order?" So much for someone coming over to get my order, huh? I responded with, "I was, but nobody wanted to take my order." and walked right out. As I drove away I observed the guy who had walked away from me having a conversation with a lady that looks to be the MANAGER on the outside patio. I ended up going to Taco Bell. read more

Came across this gem on my way to Shenandoah. We were immediately seated and provided with chips and authentic salsa. We ordered chicken & beef taco salad and a lunch burrito bowl. Tonight we got the guacamole to share and we are more chunky guacamole people and this was silky smooth. For the meal, my wife went with the taquitos Mexicanos and unfortunately most of the chicken here, it tasted boiled, with seasoning being an afterthought, even the rice was bland. I ordered the grilled taco salad and it turned out pretty good. Before we moved to Virginia, in 2013, I lived in Colorado Springs for 7 years and Albuquerque for 4, where I met my wife, was born and raised there. We have still not gotten used to the bland taste here and the nasty water-cheese sauce they put on everything in Virginia. With a couple of exceptions, every visit to a Mexican restaurant, just leaves me full...of sadness and longing for the southwest. read more

We have been going here for the past 4 years. We really loved the service and food. Not sure what happened, but today we were seated quickly. Waited for around 10 or so minutes, finally got the chips and salsa with menus. Ordered a beer each that took almost 10 more minutes. Mind you it is only 2 of us and not very busy. We both asked for one more beer, they brought it out for my husband, looked at me and asked if I would like another one. I denied the second beer since I knew the food would be out very soon. The food arrived...ugh...the plates were hot but the food was barely warm. It was very bland, almost like zero seasonings. We were hungry so we choked it down. The only server that seemed to try to help was what appeared to be a 9/10 year old child. Finally got the ticket and I was charged for the extra beer that was never received. After looking at some of these reviews, I do not believe they care what awful service or food they have. Besides, I can cook Mexican food way better than their microwaved food! We arrived on a Tuesday around 3:00. It wasn't crowded. In fact, it was just us and one other table. It's very dark inside, and it was VERY hot - like sweaty hot. Granted, it was also hot outside but the AC should be able to keep up. We were greeted promptly and taken to a table. We were there during happy hour but that was not mentioned to us by the person that sat us or our waitress. Our waitress was a young woman with negligible English skills. Service was ok but she did mess up our order as she misunderstood what we asked for. To her credit, she offered to fix it. She immediately brought chips and salsa. The chips were warm. The salsa was unremarkable and had a subtle heat. We ordered 2 medium house margaritas. The homemade margarita mix tasted good but that's about all you tasted - very little tequila. We each ordered Enchiladas Verdes. The beans were good with nice chunks. The yellow rice had no flavor at all. The chicken in the enchiladas was not seasoned it was just plain shredded chicken breast. The verde sauce had a bit too much lime in it for our tastes, otherwise it was fine. Horrible!! DO NOT EAT HERE!! Our food was cold!! We ordered a cheese quesadilla and chicken burrito and chips with salsa. All of the food was horrendous. The cheese tasted like it was rotten and the burrito was soo dry we couldn't finish it. We stopped because my son was hungry and now we have to go find somewhere else for him to eat. The food we were served tonight was honestly appalling. I hope I do not get food poisoning. We ordered the combo # 10 and the burrito. Out of all of these things, the FREE chips and salsa was the only good out of it. The food was COLD AND BLAND. Very noticeably microwaved. The enchilada was NOT even done. The quesadilla was stuffed with unseasoned boiled chicken. Then to top it off the whole meal was coated in cheese sauce that literally had the consistency of water. My husband's burrito was bland and cold as well. What is going on? Mexican food should not be bland, at all. I reached out to them, because I was very upset with what I had paid for. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand what he was telling me to do. I think he wanted me to box the food back up and bring it back to them to remake. We are already home and didn't want to go back out. Not to mention we do not want food from this establishment EVER again. Food was ordered, which didn't take too long but I asked for onions and bell peppers on my food and was given none. (I asked for the food to be removed from the check and it was) The waitress did not ask if we wanted refills and after she asked if we wanted the check it took 15 minutes to finally get it. I feel like this is the best Mexican food option in Greene County. The wait staff is all friendly. Sometimes they get a bit busy with a limited staff an you have to wait. Honestly the frozen margaritas are where it's at. The food is eh. My friend ordered a taco salad with rice instead of meat and didn't even get the rice! And Don't get cheese quesadilla it just tastes funny idk what it is. Server handed me a burning hot plate idk why she handed it to me over top of everyone else at the table. My cheese enchiladas were watery/soggy. Service is soooo slow and don't sit outside or it will be even slower. and we didn't even get our waters we ordered with our margaritas we got them like 30 min later when they came back to our table. We went on a Saturday night with my granddaughter. The waiter was very personable. My husband practiced his Spanish and made the experience really enjoyable. We loved the decor and all 3 of us really liked the food. My husband had a Margarita which he definitely liked. My granddaughter loved the fried ice cream which we all shared. "The times, they are ah changing" -- After deciding that we didn't want to cook at home and were out walking the dog, we looked for a place for takeout. We had been to El Jaripeo multiple times because it is convenient to our house and the in laws. Service is hot and cold, it depends on the day. We have ordered take out previously and had slight issues with the order. This time we ordered one fajita combo entree. We typically order one and get an extra "salad" (plate of shredded lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and refried beans). Upon arriving, I was told my total was $13.99. I paid and left a generous tip. After bringing the food out, he said he forgot to charge me for the salad. I understood and asked for the total. He said $7.50. I was shocked. I could have ordered a large taco salad for about that price. I politely declined and took the dinner. The food was good, portions are large and well flavored. They meal did come with chips and salsa. Overall the meal was fine. Disappointed at the seemingly outlandish price, but I know not to order now. Brought my wife here for Mother's Day. I usually get their "Molejata" every time I come as it very good, but since it is Mother's Day we shared the fajitas for two for the first time. Man, I found me a new favorite! The beef & chicken were tender & juicy (unlike a couple of others restaurants I won't name...), the seasoning was quite tasty, and it is served with plenty of guac, sour cream, shredded lettuce, beans & rice! Sincerely disappointed. We've gotten food here a few times and everything was fine. Tonight it was not good at all. My daughter and niece ordered food and said the cheese tasted bad so my husband and I took a bit ourselves and it tasted sour as if it was out of date.
