My all time favorite Mexican place to eat. Absolutely phenomenal service and excellent food. I have NEVER received something that has been less than perfect. The food is great but don't get me started on this watermelon margaritas. You can also enjoy these inside or outside, as there is an option. The inside feel is comfortable, and also include an upstairs or downstairs option. The bar is upstairs with a couple tables and the downstairs area is your more traditional dining area. Little hidden gem! I am not a local but am in town for the day, and this was the perfect spot to fill up after a long hike out in the summer heat. I was lucky enough to come during lunch on a Wednesday, so I got to get the jumbo margarita special for $6 they have on Wednesdays and the lunch special #1 with a taco and enchilada plus rice and beans for only $7.99! Their chips are fresh and light, and the salsa is delicious - a very refreshing combo. The salsa is more of a pico with liquid pieces of tomato onion and cilantro with the perfect amount of spice (it's definitely got a kick) The taco had pico de gallo on it which was a much appreciated added touch as normally it's not served with anything other than lettuce. The enchilada is my go to order at any Mexican restaurant and this one got it RIGHT! The sauce was perfect and they topped it with a good amount of cheese. The margarita was amazing and you could tell they didn't skimp on the tequila, but was the perfect mix without being too much. I will definitely make this the place I go to when I stop in town. The waitress was also super friendly and kept coming by to make sure I was all good :) Stop here if you are looking for a good Mexican spot with friendly staff! read more

El Jarochito has what most have become comfortable ordering for Mexican in middle-America. However, if you are feeling adventurous, they will surprise your tastebuds with the rest of their menu. El Jarochito has multiple settings to make anyone feel comfortable. Downstairs is more family friendly, upstairs has a bar and high top tables, and if the weather is nice you can have a seat outside. Just ok. Went on a Saturday evening about 8:00-8:30. Things were starting to quiet down with the second of two large tables receiving their food from a food runner about the time we were placing our drink order. Our first visit and we were looking forward to a good meal based on the current reviews. Our waitress got very confused about our margarita request- two small mango peach, mixed, on the rocks no sugar on the rim- it was a long discussion, at her initiation, about splitting a jumbo vs two smalls and if they had peach or not. Then asked two additional times before leaving the table about what we wanted. That must have really thrown her because we never received the queso we ordered. When we got our food and before she was about to split we had to remind her we still had no silverware and we needed the Pepsi with the meal. The spinach on my quesadilla looked (and tasted) like it just came out of a can. About the only compliment I can provide is the sauce on the enchiladas supreme was very good - husband would have liked the cheese melted in the cheese enchilada- and the margarita was tops! I've eaten at El Jarochito in Bonne Terre a few times, and it was always a great dining experience. This review is for the El Jarochito on Hwy 67 in Park Hills. I ate there yesterday with my husband and 2 best friends. Firstly, the building itself is beautifully redone inside. It is fresh, tastefully decorated, and you don't feel crowded inside. The server was attentive without over-bugging us. The four of us all ordered something different and each one enjoyed their dish. The food was served steaming hot and exactly as ordered. This was such a great dining experience and we look forward to eating here again, real soon. I would recommend El Jarochito in Bonne Terre and Park Hills to anyone who loves tasty Mexican dishes. you will not be disappointed. The margaritas are some of the best around! I've eaten here a couple times. Found it by accident when I was picking up some things at the post office and they were closed for lunch. I had the street tacos and carnitas. Both were perfect. Loads of meat cooked to perfection. The chips are thin, crispy and fresh and the salsa is really tasty too. Staff was helpful and food came quick. What more can you ask for? read more
