My wife and I usually go to Tapatia's for our Mexican fill....BUT....WE FOUND A NEW FAVORITE! We walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner nonetheless who happily welcomed us and took us to a booth that was well lit and clean. The waitress came over quickly, but since this was our first time, it took us a bit to figure out what we wanted...my wife ordered a carnitas burrito that was pulled pork and onions with cheese sauce draped over it and it came with rice as well. Let me tell you...EVERY BITE OF THAT PORK WAS AMAZING! I ordered a #3 lunch special that had a chix burrito and a chix taco with lettuce, tomato, cheese, and sour cream. It was also delicious, but I was and am still jealous of my wife's decision! The restaurant was clean and all the staff was in great spirits! Please don't miss out on this gem!!! Quick stop so a quick review. While heading home from Matamoras PA to Wake Forest NC, we took a "road less traveled" which was I-81. That took us through a short stretch of West Virginia so we decided to stop here for lunch. It was one of the few restaurants open on a Sunday in Martinsburg. The place is clean and family owned. It has your usual Mexican American fare. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was top notch. There was only one server working and he came by occasionally to check on us. There were other patrons there but not overly busy. It wasn't far off the interstate which was a plus. And there is ample parking. read more

The food was just alright. My family & I went in for lunch, 3 of us. Started off with an app, cheese dip w/ chorizo. It was tasty, a large portion, but was barely warm. Our lunch entrees were ok. I have yet to find a tamale in a local restaurant that I would consider "good". I did not get to the chile relleno, so will try that tonight. All agreed, the service was very good, but was hoping the food was going to be better, based on the reviews. read more

The decor of this place is cute with various suns and cowboy boots etc. I was sat down pretty quickly. One of the servers brought some chips and salsa that were fresh, but the chips tasted very oily and like the oil needed changed. I ordered a carnitas burrito with salsa instead of cheese sauce, and it still came out with cheese so I had to send it back. The carnitas were good, just oily. It did take quite a long time for me to get my check when I was done. This place is ok, but I'm not sure I would come back. read more

Who ever suggested the beef tip chimichanga, I owe you a very big kiss. Holy cow, that was the best thing I have ever eaten. And I've had real traditional mexican food deep in Mexico made by someone's very talented Abuela. Ive eaten food all over this country and somehow this topped all of that. The service was great, the decorations were adorable, we loved the vibe of the overall experience. This is the best food I've had in West Virginia so far. I've tried all the places near me (Inwood and Martinsburg), and this absolutely takes the cake. Service was attentive and prompt. Ambiance is great. Booth walls are nice and high so very private for a dining room on the smaller side. Music isn't too loud. We came here after reading multiple wonderful reviews, but we were very disappointed with our experience. when we showed up our waiter was very slow to take our order. She also seemed to be under the influence. I'm not sure of what but it took a very long time for our food to come and for regular drinks like water and tea to come out. The food is good, but I was highly disappointed when we paid for our order, she charged us for the wrong meal and then tried to have me pay for the wrong meal on my card by looking at me and saying she can't take it off, so I sat there and refused to pay for it until she made it right. We love the other location with the same owners, La Lobera in Inwood and were very excited to attend this new location's grand opening today on Warm Springs Avenue, which is much closer to our house. We ordered the Chipotle Burrito which was delicious, the spice level was perfect, and the chorizo and sauce created some amazing flavors. We also ordered the Lobera Special. The steak was overcooked and chewy on this. We ordered medium but it was very well done. Service had some first day hiccups but nothing major and the server was very nice. We didn't get the guacamole we ordered and had to ask to have it taken off the check at the end but this was done without trouble. It was also clear he was still learning the menu. Once again this is day 1 so that is to be expected and you could tell he cared about doing a good job. Desert was a deep fried tortilla with cheese cake on the inside served with ice cream. I've been here now three times. Each time the food has been fantastic, except today the wife's rice and beans were served cold. Twice, Ray has been our server. Horrible and slow. Takes forever to get back to us. Had to ask for the check twice. Last time Luis was our server and he was excellent. It was nice to see a tour of Mexico on one TV and a fireplace on the other instead of the usual sports. 5 stars for everything but Ray. I'll be back. The wife probably won't. read more

We were excited to try this place with such glowing reviews. Turns out it just opened a few months ago. Overall, it was really good, with great service and delicious food. I did not care for the spicy refried beans, as I don't like spicy foods in general. The combination dip was phenomenal with fresh pico (not spicy!) along with cheese and ground beef. Where to even start..this place checks ALL the boxes. Service..fantastic! Junior was excellent, highly recommend him! Chips/salsa delivered to the table within 3 minutes of sitting down, greeted by junior a couple min after. Queso, chimichangas (beef and chicken), fried ice cream and cheesecake were SPOT ON! Margarita flight didn't disappoint either! Ambiance is nice, Spanish music playing at a nice volume and TVs playing a variety including boxing, Indy, and football( well, espn and a football story on) . First time trying this restaurant. We went because of the good reviews. Loved the vibes! Our waiter Bryan was very good. The chips were just ok but the salsa was good with a kick. I had a combo of a chicken enchililada with salsa verde which I requested. It was yummy. I also ordered the chili relleno. It was super cheesy and the red sauce was so good. It was huge so I brought it home. The rice and beans were just average. My man ordered the spinach chicken enchilada. It came with rice. The enchilada was stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with grilled chicken in a spinach sauce. He loved it. So far this is the best Mexican we have had in the Martinsburg area. read more

I found this place for me and my and my mom to try for a nice Sunday lunch, and let me tell you, I was amazed by not only the quality of the food but also the customer service. The employees all greeted us with conversation and smiles, and made us feel welcome. Now the food was just on a whole different level, I ordered Burrito lobera and I was instantly taken away by the portion, quality, presentation and flavor that this burrito had to offer. This is a new restaurant that has taken over an existing space. The interior is nice enough; nothing great and nothing at all bad. I expect they'll do some upgrading once they become a better-known part of the community. Fortunately, we do not need to eat the atmosphere! What about the food? The presentation? The service? If I said "couldn't be better," it would not be true. I expect that, were this a Michelin-starred resto, such an accolade would apply. But it's not Michelin-starred, HOWEVER, it is better than some of the Michelin-starred restos we patronized on a recent trip to Mexico, including at least one M-starred resto in Oaxaca. Start with the service: Our server could not have been friendlier or more competent. He did all the right things at the right time, making suggestions in response to our queries. We felt well-welcomed and at ease. The complimentary chips and salsa were excellent. I prefer thinner chips, but these tasted great, which is what counts. The salsa was A-plus. Then came the big test proctored by my wife: Steak fajitas, steak medium rare. She was expecting what she almost always receives from such an order: Steak fajitas, steak well-done and gray. Guess what: steak medium-rare and delicious. I ordered something that sounded good: Pina Loca ("Sizzling shrimp, steak, chicken, chorizo, bell peppers, onions & tomatoes, served with rice, beans, lettuce, cream, & tortillas, COOKED IN HALF OF A PINEAPPLE. Absolutely, positively delicious. Something else absolutely and positively: The dish is HUUUUUUUGE! I was able to finish a little less than half. We brought it home and had it for a light dinner. And what was left we shared for lunch the next day, to a chorus of "This is SO GOOD." It will not take long for El Lobo Dorado to become Martinsburg's number one. read more
