Disappointed I've dined at both locations many times. Service and food have always been consistently good...until today. I got my usual, #4, but was very disappointed. All of it had very odd flavors, like they used stale ingredients. Although hungry, I didn't finish anything. The service was poor, too. We decided to have an early Mexican lunch at Soccer Taco (Bearden). The staff were all busy getting the restaurant ready for their lunch rush when we entered. We were promptly greeted, seated and brought chips with salsa. Our server, Diego, was super helpful with our menu questions. I had a pablano pepper stuffed with beef and cheese and a carnitas street taco. The stuffed pepper was delicious with lots of meat and a nice red sauce. The pork in my street taco was tender and juice. As an added treat, Diego brought me some habanero sauce which was hot and added a kick that I loved. I recently attended a conference in Knoxville and had an opportunity to dine at Soccer Tacos on more than one occasion. I ordered tacos as a combo plus Pollo asado the next day. Both of these meals were pretty good, although they certainly don't stand out as excellent Mexican cuisine by any standard. The price was right and the food was filling. The service was attentive and prompt, which is always a good thing. I would eat here again, although I'm not sure when I'll be back in Knoxville. When in town visiting my brother he recommended Soccer Taco for lunch. He's a frequent visitor and said the food was delicious. I live in Northern California and have access to delicious and authentic Mexican food so am always a little skeptical trying a new spot. I had two street tacos - Al pastor and beef cheek (cachete). Typically al pastor is my favorite, the cachete blew me away! It was my first time having beef cheek. So flavorful and so super tender. I would highly recommend trying. The house chips and salsa were perfect. I had a delicious premium margarita to accompany lunch. Service at the bar was extremely efficient and friendly. I really like the outdoor patio area for hanging out and enjoying Mexican fare. The view isn't the best, since you just watch cats going down Kingston Pike, but the patio is far better than eating inside. The food is decent. It is standard Mexican food with no real twists or anything to set it apart. I recommend the cheesesteak quesadillas or fajitas. A COCKROACH FELL FROM THE CEILING ONTO OUR TABLE WITH FOOD. The group of five women I was with, obviously freaked out. One of the workers had the AUDACITY to be extremely rude and tell us to calm down and sit back down. Our kind server then moved all of our food to another table, then brought us another cheese dip, but still charged us for the cheese dip we already got. Love the Kingston Pike Soccer Taco! These folks are our Knox Co family when we are in Knoxville. Arroz con Pollo, Carnitas and grilled nachos for the table family style is our go to. We love the charro beans as the side. Tortillas are always fresh. Good selection of Mexican beer on draft. Prices are right. Food is consistent. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. Frequent flier hack - if the parking lot is full, you can enter the strip mall to the west and park behind Soccer Taco. They have stairs up to the back of the upper parking lot. The tacos turned out to be pretty big, and they came with a big bag of chips and a cup of salsa, as well as a spicy salsa, lime, cilabi, and onions for the tacos on the side. I feel like it was a great value and it was very tasty. I wish it was possible to add more thing to your online order. Your go-to local neighborhood Mexican restaurant, that's this place. The margaritas are good, especially the "Molly Margaritas,"(top shelf w/ a splash of grand marnier added), which is my favorite. My favorite is the Chicken Soup (I swear it could cure a sick town, ask for fried tortilla strips to top it. My other go-to item are the carnitas tacos. The fish tacos and chimichangas are also good choices. The enchiladas are not very good and I am not a fan of the fajitas. Last time I got the fajitas to-go I got home, opened the box and on the steak it was all fatty parts of the steak you should throw out and not serve. The servers are very consistent and make sure your chips and salsa never get low. When you get to-go make sure there is salsa. They give you chips but they forget the salsa all the time. Majority of the time I never have issues w/ to-go food here. I like that they have soccer games going on all around the restaurant and you get a discount if you wear a soccer jersey. They also stay open later than a lot of places around, serving food that is until midnight. My favorite Mexican restaurant to go too. Working at the medical center we usually use them alot for functions with work colleagues and it is always perfect for big groups or parties to order the catering and it's cheap and delicious! The hurrachas are fantastic I like the chorizo and the lengua. The beer is always freezing cold and the have very nice happy hour selection and tequila specials I love this restaurant and the owners are very friendly always find a reason to come here have a margarita and eat very dog and family friendly also with their outdoor seating read more
