2nd time at the food truck. Despite my first experience which was horrible, I decided to give it a go again since they came closer to town for a food truck event. Mmm...even worse than the first experience. Despite them posting on their social media that they wouldn't run out because they ordered double (I guess of their ingredients), they were sold out after 3 hours. They could have updated their social to state that they were sold out to save time or even at least put a sign up on their menu board that they were sold out. Waste time standing in line just to be told they don't have any buckets. Not giving a 3rd try. read more

I had seen this place on tik tok and had to try it! I saw a lot of complaints about the price but and I'm a bit on the fence, it's very fulfilling for one person but coulda had a bit more. My partner also enjoyed his. $30 per bucket, half a sweet corn on the cob, one boiled egg, two crab legs, approx 7 shrimp, some sausage and a lot of baby potatoes. I picked the spicy Cajun and it wasn't too hot on the mouth but enough to make your nose run. Do wish you got more crab as the legs are very small. My partner enjoyed his hapa sauce which is cheehoo sauce (creamy coconut with garlic) and you can mix it with any other sauce (regular Cajun, not spicy or spicy Cajun). I highly recommend you look up their schedule on Instagram to see where they are for the week. It was about an hour drive in rush hour from Waikiki but well worth it. Truck was bright and parked outside of a hotel and the lady who took our order was super kind! Didn't have much of a wait and we got there after 5pm. I took my first review off because of me contacting them to make things right, I do appreciate them going above and beyond and "trying". I deleted my first review but after my new order got picked up, I gotta say that My review from before remains, regardless of them fixing it because what I'm not gunna do is front. The first time I thought it was salty they only had the Chee Hoo sauce available but I wanted half & half which is also the House Cajun. I can honestly confirm the facts are true, I got the mixture half and half and it don't even matter still salty, I will never attempt to pay $32 again. What they give is not worth the price. Let's be honest. Skimpy looking crabs need to be 1 whole cluster especially if you charging $32. Sausages and potatoes only cost a couple dollars at Kickin Cajun. This is crazy. read more

Seafood Boil w/ House Cajun sauce is mild, not spicy, savory with assorted, Cajun seasonings and spices. Lighter and flavorful! Shake your bucket with lid sealed if sauce starts to separate. Seafood Boil w/ Cheehoo sauce is a mild, creamy, coconut with garlic sauce. Slightly heavier. If you love sauce, you'll love this one. There's also a Hapa sauce, combination of Cheehoo sauce with House Cajun sauce poured on top, shaken. Definitely taste the multitude of flavors. Matter of preference. One bucket of seafood boil cost $31 and is sufficient to feed one person. I also ordered a steak burrito $16 for my husband since he patiently waited 1.5 hours in our vehicle. I didn't try the steak burrito and let him have it all. They also make a few Mexican entrees, apps, desserts, and horchata which I'd love to try on my next visit. They were not expecting a big turnout with a long line of customers. Opened for business at 4 PM. I was the sixth party in line to place my order. There were a few huge orders before mine. Paid for my order at 4:18 PM. Orders were ready quickly. My order was ready at 4:30 PM. To go orders packed in a large, clear plastic bag with gloves, napkins and forks. Served fresh and heat hot! I finally checked out Buckits Hawaii, and let me tell you, they're famous for their seafood buckets! It's actually Hawaii's first seafood boil food truck that you can grab on the go. They've got four different sauce options: House Cajun, Spicy Cajun, Cheehoo, and Hapa. Besides the buckets, they also whip up a seafood seasoning mix, shrimp and rice plates, steak tacos, elote (that's corn), horchata, and side rice. When it comes to the seafood boil, you can choose from three different sizes, and you get to pick your sauce. Each bucket is loaded with shrimp, crab legs, sausage, an egg, and some small potatoes. I have been waiting to try these guys out since I follow them on instagram and they seem like a really Fun bunch! I got their large Hapa bucket and it was really Good! I was able to share with my niece and she enjoyed it too! She wasn't fond of the sausage because it was a bit too intense for her but I liked it! The flavor was very unique but delicious! They had a bit of a long line but it was still pretty quick to get our food. My husband liked his burrito he said everything in it was flavored very well. Super friendly people and very accommodating. I asked for extra gloves and napkins and she was more than happy to help me even with their line building up. We spend four months out of the year in Oahu and have passed this food truck in Ewa Beach plenty of times. We finally gave it a shot and immediately regretted it. The red flags started right away. The woman taking orders stayed seated the entire time, eating while handling cash and constantly touching her face. Watching someone go from money to their mouth and back to serving customers is beyond unsanitary. We ordered the $50 bucket, which was basically a pile of potatoes, a handful of shrimp, and the saddest excuse for a crab cluster I've ever seen. To make matters worse, everything was ridiculously salty and tasted anything but fresh. Hawaii is full of incredible food, this is not it. Honestly, this experience just proved that some places aren't worth the risk. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

If the flavor is in the fat is a thing, their Crab Boil should be the phrases poster icon. Good: Assume Sauce. We had the Hapa large bucket to share for two. There was plenty of everything, except crab. Only a single half a crab with smallish legs. Besides that plenty of shrimp, sausage, potatoes (white and red new) and boiled eggs. Bad: The Hapa sauce was great-but it is not low-cal or healthy choice. But it is delicious. Also, it needs to eaten right away. It wasn't "Hot". Maybe warm at best. Choose your poison wisely. Buckits Hawaiʻi is a food truck that is often on the west side, but I was grateful that they participated in the Māʻona Market at Island Family Christian Church in Salt Lake recently so that I could try their food. I've been following them on Instagram, and both their seafood and Mexican food have looked delicious! A bunch of friends and I went to the Māʻona Market together, so we got several items from different places so that we could try lots of things. At Buckits we got two seafood boil buckits with Cheehoo sauce (coconut milk sauce), rice, and Rudy's Pizzaria. The seafood boil buckits were awesome as they came with shrimp, crab, sausage, potatoes, corn, and boiled eggs. At first I was confused by the boiled eggs, but they were actually so good. The shrimp were huge, and everything was cooked perfectly, which is difficult to do when ingredients cook at different rates. And let me tell you, that coconut Cheehoo sauce was such an interesting and yummy twist for a seafood boil. We definitely poured that sauce over rice to gobble down. Would definitely order again! We also really enjoyed the Rudy's Pizzaria, which is a huge birria quesadilla with a side cup of consommé. Also super delicious, and I loved the lime wedges to help the flavor pop and cut some of the heaviness of the meat and cheese. Would also order again. The food took about 20 minutes to come out because the market was busy, but the quality was worth the wait! Buckits Hawaiʻi is a super cute food truck, and I'm happy I tried it. Popped up on our Instagram feed, so tracked them down at one of the Wai Kai Thursday night markets. It was so busy, luckily they were situated right where we entered and not in the middle of the crowd. The food was flavorful and one bucket was enough for my husband and I to share (which never happens, we always eat too much to share no matter where we go). It was a bit messy because we had to stand up and eat it with no table, but they do give a good amount of napkins to help with that. Not like some places that will give you one or two napkins. It was perfect to share because I could eat the things that my husband didn't care to have and he ate the things I didn't want, such as the egg. The woman taking our order was very patient and providing answers to all of our questions. She also made some recommendations to help us. It tasted great, but the 'filler-to-seafood' ratio was way too high. For $ 32.00, I was expecting a Bucket not container. We ordered 3 small @ 32.00 and 1lg Bucket @ 50.00. They put it all in one package which one of the covers opened and spilled in the bag. It's filled with more potatoes, and sausages. 1 sm. container had 3 skimpy crab legs no clusters attached and 6 shrimps. So not worth the price. I must say it tasted really good. I really wanted to love Buckits Hawaii because I'm a huge fan of seafood boils and I believe in supporting local businesses. Unfortunately, the experience just didn't match the hype. First off, the flavor was way off balance. The boil was overly salty but somehow still lacking in spice. I expected a bold, layered flavor, but instead it just tasted like butter and salt. On top of that, an extra side of sauce was $12 and it basically would've been the same salty, buttery liquid. The menu situation was also disappointing. The menus on Yelp and Instagram aren't updated, so I walked up without realizing that the lowest priced "bucket" was $32 and when I say "bucket," don't picture a full seafood bucket or the buckets shown on their Instagram it was legit about the size of a medium Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee cup. I ended up getting the bigger bucket thinking it was $40 as stated on the menus listed on Instagram and yelp but was $64. For $64, my bucket had: * 10 potatoes (taking up majority of the bucket) * 3 hard-boiled eggs (one was literally half an egg) * 20 shrimp which were way over cooked * 2 crab legs (with maybe a 1/4 cup of meat total) * 2 half corn on the cobs I get it that we live in Hawaiʻi and prices are higher, but at this point it feels more like a a rip off. If you charge $64 for that bucket maybe include more higher end seafood compared to a lot of shrimp, potatoes, and corn. I left feeling more frustrated than satisfied. I truly hope they update their menus, balance their seasoning, and reconsider their portion sizes. I'd love to support them again in the future, but right now it's not worth the price. read more

I found the food a bit too oily for my taste, and some small pieces of garlic had a slightly sour flavor. The bucket seemed to have a lot of potatoes compared to other items, and there were only two pieces of crab leg, which felt a little underwhelming. For the price, I think Kickin Kajun offers a better overall experience. read more
