The decor is bright, festive, and full of energy. Once inside, it feels like you've walked into a fiesta. From the moment we entered to the moment we left, the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming. The menu is huge, with tons of options. I went with the Don Burrito, packed with chicken and steak, smothered in cheese, and paired with both red and green salsa. I also tried a Guacamole Crispy Taco, which was satisfying. Never had this before, but glad we stopped in! Really good Mexican food! The place was pretty busy, but our food got to us fairly quickly. The only complaint any of us had was our drinks were pretty slow getting to us. It appeared our server had more tables than he could easily handle. It's ok though, he did the best he could. My wife and I shared the buffalo chicken nachos. We were both very surprised at how good they were at a Mexican restaurant! The dining room was clean as were the restrooms. I ordered the tacos al pastor with chicken instead of steak. The chicken was well seasoned but I did assume it would come with corn tortillas, but it automatically comes with flour. My mistake :( My friend ordered the quesabirria tacos which looked outstanding and the salsa that came with them was delicious. This restaurant provided a great Mexican atmosphere and great service. I am giving it a 4 because myself nor my husband liked anything we ordered. This is Mexican food Michoacán style. So benefit of doubt not the type of Mexican food we are used to. I ordered Chile Rellenos and my husband Beef and Chicken Quesadilla. The house salsa looked and tasted like tomato sauce, I did ask if they had something else and was brought out a much hotter green salsa. Ok so my biggest issue was the beef. I believe it was hamburger meat but minced so fine it was mushy and looked like baby food. I am not sure of the chile used but it tasted like a green bell pepper. So basically it was a pepper with a layer of the meat and cheese on it. It came with an Avocado salad, basically shredded salad with huge glop of Avocado. The Quesadillas were Fat thick Flour tortillas folded like a Taco, one with the beef stuff and one with chicken that tasted boiled. So if your experimental give it a try. Absolutely amazing experience here! We came in for a quick lunch break and they had us in and out of here in 20 minutes. I normally enjoy Mexican but I will never return to this establishment. My family and I decided to try something new after making a out of town fireworks run. we chose this esstablishment. Although it was multiple adults our food didn't come out together. Also they make their tortillas rather that be corn or flour and due to the smell I couldn't eat my food really at all. The only thing that is worth coming for are the giant drinks that they serve. The Mexican food they serve isn't good but they're really cheap. The dishes take forever for them to come out and the waiter is usually gone for long periods of time. I ordered the peach daiquiri and it tasted and felt more like a peach smoothie. I had to change the rating for my review because this place has more memories with friends for me than it did for food and that may not be fair. We celebrated my friend's birthday here and they actually sang an actual Mexican celebratory song (not just happy birthday in Spanish) which was very soothing and melodic. This isn't the best Mexican restaurant I've been to, but I'm a little biased, since I was visiting Auburn for just a day, and am originally from Dallas, TX and have been to more authentic Mexican restaurants from the area. That's one of the reason this is 3-stars instead of 5-stars. I was feeling for some steak so I ordered the rib-eye. I absolutely LOVE rare steaks, and my go-to phrase every time I order is to make my steak "as rare as possible." I understand that there are health-risks associated with uncooked meat and that there are some limitations with how rare steak can be cooked, but I was a little disappointed when my steak came up more well-done than rare. My dad ordered the exact same entree as mine, except he asked for medium-rare, and we ended up not being able to tell our dishes apart :( The entree overall was decent, and considering it was a busy night when I went and that our server was attentive and super nice, I was satisfied with dinner. I will say this though, I was very impressed by the price. I can't tell if it's just the area in general, but I was able to get a decent size steak accompanied with rice and guacamole/pico de gallo for $12.99! Picture is included. The quality of the steak/food is superior than the price. There were many entrees that were under $10, and considering that this is a college town, it's a good price for the budgeting full-time student. Aw, this place isn't that terrible. El Dorado's food is not bad and pretty cheap. Yes, it's not gourmet fancy Mexican but you know that going in. The last time I was here, our waitress was very sweet though she could have been a little more attentive. I noticed that the waitress for the adjacent booth seemed to visit those customers more often. You can order from the lunch menu on Sundays which is awesome. Good number of options to select from. I got a taco, quesadilla, and tamale. This may sound odd, but the cheesecake burrito blew our minds. Even though my lunch companions swore they didn't want any when I ordered, they ended up stealing several bites. Crunchy shell, delightful interior. Try this! Interesting: I noticed huevos rancheros on the menu, along with Bloody Marys. Looks like El Dorado could be a brunch possibility. I came here for a late lunch and ordered pollo loco (a chicken a rice dish). Since it wasn't peak business hours we were sat right away and the service was great! The flavor of the food was good and it was hot when it was brought it to the table. I have no complaints at all, it was a wonderful experience. The staff were wearing masks and all the people in the restaurant were social distanced. As far as sustainability goes, I think they're doing better than other restaurants. I don't even know where to begin. I would give this place one star, but my strawberry daiquiri was delicious. SN: I apologize for my poor grammar. It's almost 2 am, I am tired, and upset. I got the combo fajitas (chicken and shrimp) for dinner. Pro: they gave me 4 tortillas instead of 2 or 3. Con: my refried beans tasted like straight pork. I understand that pork fat is used when making refried beans, but I shouldn't be able to actually taste it. The rice was salty and had a bad aftertaste. They gave me a skillet full of chicken and like 4 pieces of shrimp (I asked for the combo so that means an even amount of both). My friend's beans were the same way. She ordered the flautas and was pretty upset she only received 4 stating that it was not fulfilling. Their drinks are either the worst or best thing on their menu. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri (an already frozen drink). Why was I charged an extra .50 for a frozen drink to be frozen? My friend ordered a strawberry margarita and she was charged as well for a frozen drink, but she never said for it to be frozen. We were also informed that her drink was frozen because they put ice in it (on the rocks). Frozen and on the rocks are not the same and her drink was warm. Our check was the worst part. First off, I had asked for some shredded cheese for my food and it was $1.75. I never got my cheese, but our server still put it on my receipt. My friend, still upset and confused about the "frozen" drink so I asked her to speak to a manager. The manager was so awful. I complimented our server to him even after she made several mistakes and asked him why my drink was being charged and extra .50 and why my friend was being charged for something she never received (a frozen drink). He became extremely defensive and started saying that the restaurant charges for everything. Then he became sarcastic and kept asking if I wanted my .50 back. It was never about the money (obviously) but the principle. There is no reason someone should be charged for a frozen drink when the drink only comes frozen and on the rocks is not frozen and therefore should not be charged as such, especially when I can put ice in my own drink, like they did. read more
