The mole was "hot" but that's it for flavor - no chiles, chocolate, peanuts, sesame seed taste at all, like it'd been watered down and thickened with cornstarch. The tortillas were....rubbery? Owner must've seen my plate set to the side and he asked if everything was OK. I told him what I've said here and he apologized and said he'd talk to the chef. But he still charged us for my order. Overall, a pretty decent find, though the food caters more to a bland palate than that of an authentic Mexican food lover. This was my initial Impression, at least, as the salsa served with thick corn tortilla chips was watery tomato and seasoned by more scallions than chili peppers. The Arroz con Camarones was a nice portion of well cooked shrimp and vegetables...some beans would have been a great addition. Despite the vibrant red color, the dish was saucy but very mild. I was a little envious of the beans and cactus salsa salad served on my son's pork carnitas plate. The acid and little kick of the cactus salad may have been the most flavorful bite of food we tasted. Friday afternoon at 3:00pm, the restaurant was very quiet and service was quick and friendly. Been there a few times. Food is on the blander side, drinks are alright. Our most recent visit had us seated in the back. It was later in the evening so it was darker outside, but the wall sconces were left off and the music was blaring. Our waiter "Ken" was smug and a bit condescending. He barely served our table (he removed our plates but hardly checked in on us nor offered us drink refills). He didn't write anything down and got a number of things wrong with our orders. The real issue is this: when we were looking at our menus, he directed us to place them at the end of the table when we were ready to order. However, while we were looking and idly chatting shortly after being seated, the man walks by and CLAPS at us to say "can you hurry up?" After some deliberation (despite feeling disrespected), we decided not to leave a tip. I've never NOT left a tip in my life. I know it's these people's livelihoods. It made it a little easier that his overall demeanor and service was lacking, but it was ultimately being disrespected that did it for us. Everything else would've been overlooked. Signed the receipt after dinner and left. Didn't bother writing the total, which was my mistake, because when the payment posted on my card a couple days later, I saw they decided to add an $18 tip for me! I had to dispute the transaction and ultimately got a credit from my card provider for the discrepancy, but was still pissed they even had the audacity to do that. The food has been good overall except there have been some changes over the years. When you get takeout and they screw up your order or something isn't right, you are stuck with it because you can't send it back to the kitchen. Last night I ordered takeout and it took 3 times to explain I wanted "shredded beef chimi", not ground beef. Guess what I got? Ground beef. My wife and I love El Mariachi. We go to the South Easton location frequently. The food is excellent and prices for food and beverages are very reasonable. We have been going there for 7 years. Over time we got to know the staff. Eduardo became a favorite of ours. He is personable and efficient taking care of us other patrons We always asked to be seated at a table that was in Eduardo's section when he worked as a waiter. This is my second time at El Mariachi and I really like going there! The service is great and everyone is so nice! The food is delicious, some of the best Mexican food in the area! Parking can be tricky, flying in on 138 and then breaking for a hairpin turn to find parking, but there is plenty of parking. Lots of nice folks - really great staff. Quick and courteous. You get warm chips and salsa, and we ordered the queso dip and guacamole dip which was made right in front of us. That alone could have been a meal! For the meal, I tried the sampler three plate. Rice and beans, and salad, never my favorite. Tamale, tostada and burrito. All chicken. All very good. Didn't leave hungry!! Great prices and very clean. No negatives. Stopped in last Saturday evening and was disappointed with the restaurant over all. Service deserves a good rating- our waiter was friendly and prompt. The food was sub par. Tortilla chips were stale, refried beans were watery, rice was under seasoned. My pork carnitas were the upside of the meal- tender and delicious. The bathrooms were not in good shape- big puddles of water (hopefully) on the floor. I want to love this place, but so far I can't. Tonight we ordered through Doordash. I ordered chicken mole (this place does very good mole, that's why we chose El Mariachi), my wife ordered a combo plate. We called to clarify some parts of the combo plate because of some Doordash interface issues. No mole arrived, instead I was delivered some chicken with vegetables, very nice, but not what I ordered at all. The combi plate was mostly correct, but some special requests which were agreed to by phone were not followed. I called the restaurant to explain the mole issue. The employee was nice, empathetic, but offered no solution other than suggesting I call the restaurant to make sure the order is correctly understood by the kitchen. This seems a bit ridiculous, I ordered mole online, why would a phone call make that more clear? And we did call about the other item. If El Mariachi is reading this, please please try to do better. Your restaurant is the best Mexican food for miles around, but you have to at least give a customer what was ordered, and do something to make it right if you fail to do so. read more

Consistent food, and good drinks if you dine in. We order a lot of take out since covid. With our most recent experience, we asked for ground beef, no beans, no sour cream for one of the burritos (the only "edited" meal of the order, if you will). This burrito ended up coming with shredded chicken, beans, and sour cream. No big deal though- we called to ask for a new burrito or refund for this menu item and the man on the phone immediately apologized and had the correct food ready within ten minutes. They even threw a free dessert in the bag as an apology, which they 1000% did not need to do. I normally love mariachi, but we picked up food tonight and it just did not live up to my expectations. I tried the fiesta sampler, not worth the money. It's 4 mini taquitos 2 (2 cut in half) 4 fries wings, nachos and a quesadilla. The chicken wings were your standard deep fried wings not bad at all but nothing special, nachos seem like an afterthought four or five nachos with a little cheese on them most of the cheese had fallen off and solidified in the container a tiny bit of beans just not as advertised definitely not enough to share, the mini quesadilla was just that some cheese inside of a tiny flour tortilla no embellishments. All this was served with about 2 teaspoons of guacamole that was already oxidizing a tiny bit of pico and of course a cup of sour cream that no one will use. El mariachi used to present their food well and be generous, but that is no longer the case. I also ordered a shrimp quesadilla that was soggy and haphazardly placed in the container. My husband ordered the chicken fajitas with that he also received 2 teaspoons of guacamole and a scant amount of shredded cheese with way too much sour cream. They gave him two corn tortillas to eat with the entire plate of fajitas that seemed to be stuck together, not acceptable. This is not the quality we have come to know and expect from El mariachi. read more
