I loved all of the unique items from Mexico that they have at El Mercado! I could easily spend a day and a small fortune here

Does this Mercado have slanted pots? Really looking for those type as I prefer. Before make the long drive

I was in the Northeast side of town visiting friends and I had to get something to drink. I thought to search grocery stores on Google Maps. It pointed me to El Mercado Market. Wait this is a gift shop. Where are the groceries? While I was angry and curious at the same time, I walked into the store. I was greeted by the owner's son and the owner in a separate room. This place is huge. It got indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the entire lot. Everything was from Mexico just like going to the market. The merchandise was well organized and I was not looking for anything particular. I particularly like the yard critters displays in the outdoor section. If I had a yard, they would be displayed or guard my house. Parking is kind of awkward because it's right off of the freeway exit. Just have to watch out for incoming vehicles. read more

Went with my family to look for a concrete Guadeloupe for our home, our toddler was walking and somehow lost his balance and hit a vase.. it broke and we paid $150.. that was enough for us to not return. read more

I had my eye on this place just about every time I've driven to-and-fro IAH. The bright assortment of colors and an entire front lot filled with macetas caught my eye, as I love Mexican imports. I finally made the trek on a Saturday afternoon to check out their stuff for my garden... They sell just about everything from small to oversized pottery to Mexican clay cazuelas (ancient Mexican cookware), outdoor grills, iron patio furniture, metal lawn sculptures, pinatas, candies... The pottery was more than double the price you'd pay in Mexico or in border towns. Some pots I had my eye on were $100-300. The cazuelas were more moderately priced. I think if you have no time or desire to drive to the Valley or Progresso, Mexico, then you can make a purchase here. All the items had sticker prices, though I'm not sure if there is room for negotiation. As another Yelper mentioned, we were followed the entire time, though they never offered any assistance or offer any info/support as we perused. Kind of odd. read more

Their selection was so varied. Lots and lots of Mexican art, figurines, planters. Good prices.

The selection is out of this world and you will find any pot you want for a great price. I frequent places like Wabash and Buchanan's and the prices are way better. I've read reviews you can get better pricing if you travel farther and I respect that but I feel this is some of the best pricing you can get. I hope someday to get yalls giant horse planter! read more

Not gonna lie they have some very nice things but the prices or crazy... also they have posts on facebook w some of the things they sell and when you get there they double the price on it.... But I would not go back! Wish things would have been different cause they had really nice stuff read more

If you are reading this review, stop following people around. It is so weird, put up cameras or something. All I wanted to do was browse the store with my daughter and you were on our tail every step of the way, every turn, left right, you were there. SO ANNOYING. My mom mentioned this issue to me and i decided to still go, but we wont be returning for that reason. read more

Good prices. Very helpful. Bought large pots for planting, and we love 'em. It's easy to pass and a little hard to get back to, so keep an eye out for colorful outdoor wares. read more

What a cute little Mexican shop that just opened near IAH. They have the cutest Mexican pottery from Jalisco and Michoacán. They have a dulcería and many home decorations and Mexican treats. This is a must!! The staff is super friendly and helpful too. read more

We were followed by an employee the entire time we were there, the lady stood as close as 2 feet away from us through out the entire market without saying a word. I felt that some of their things were overpriced, such as their food. Most things can be bought for cheaper at your local Fiesta or Food City. Wouldn't recommend, the pulga might be a better shot. read more
