    23. Machaca. Delicous dish for Sunday brunch!
    Michael S.

Hole in the wall gem! Authentic Mexican food with beautiful scenery all around. Felt as if we were away from home, eating at a scenic spot during vacation! We decided to drop by on the way back home after a nice, peaceful walk at the Oak Glen Preserve on a Sunday afternoon. We actually stopped by here to check on some outdoor shops, but it was so foggy they were packing up. Amidst the dense fog, saw that there was a Mexican restaurant! First off - ignore the low ratings. If you're a foodie and enjoy nature, this is a spot you MUST try! Understand that this is a local Yucaipa family restaurant and not some inner city franchise. It's an authentic Mexican small gem with surrounding scenery away from the city life. If you come during heavy traffic, then expect to wait. Common sense! The place was clean, had a mom-pops feel, and food was incredibly delicious - I think it's now our favorite Mexican joint in Yucaipa! Customer service was friendly and attentive. Leo and Amber (forgive me if I got your names wrong!) were incredible and welcoming. It's a great place for families and can easily be a simple, romantic spot for dinner dining. I wanted something fit for brunch, so Leo suggested #23 Machaca - oh my goodness... delicious!! My wife ordered our classic favorite #21 Enchiladas superiores with shredded beef and asked for both red and green sauces. We now know we like their red sauce more, but both were yummy! (Gotta experiment, am I right foodies?) Unfortunately no horchata drink at this spot, but that didn't deter us from having a good time. Mexican rice, beans, enchiladas, and shredded beef were delicious and tasted more authentic than the local joints here in Yucaipa (although Acocotli near Rite Aid comes pretty close to this spot). I have to emphasize the delicacy and tenderness of the shredded beef - absolutely savoring! So glad we decided to pull over and check out the outdoor shops, otherwise we would've NEVER given this place a try. It's so easy to simply drive by this spot and not give a care in the world. So here I am writing this review so you don't make the same mistake as us. Give this spot a try and hopefully, like us, it'll be entirely worth it!

I've passed this restaurant on my way to Apple Annie's looked nice. I needed a place in the pass to have breakfast with some music or atmosphere- this fit the bill. Beautiful outside seating , wild peacocks and shady trees. The live singer was perfect. Service was friendly Food : Carnitas plate Taco Salad Chili Verde Chips. All good , big plates not too spicy The plus here is really the music on Sunday and the atmosphere. Definitely bring Visting friends

Slow service only 2.5 staff working on a weekend? Good thing we were not in a hurry. Service when provided was friendly totally understandable service would be slow with such a small staff. This was the only con thus minus a . Food portions are huge they match price of food . Beer Michie was on point good flavor you choose your beer good selection to choose from. Sodas are canned. Front patio is small, shaded and cool. We saw squirrels , blue jays birds and a deer while enjoying our meal. Today they had live entertainment the singer was personable and engaged with the restaurant guests. Inside restaurant area was also open but not the back patio area. Overall we enjoyed our Sunday brunch ;) definitely be back :) tip would be arrive 1/2 hour after they open just in case we are running a little late ;)

3.5 for sure. I wish we could do half stars here because this wasn't quite a four star experience, but it was much better than a three. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The gentleman playing the live music was great. I could have sat there all day, listening to the awesome music that he was playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Seating is limited, though, so to be courteous, eating and leaving right after made the most sense. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The weather was great, so sitting outside was favorable, because we were so hungry we were going to forfeit the ambience of eating alfresco, but the inside of the restaurant was very hot- So we waited in line outside to be seated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (You wait outside of a small gate in line to be seated) Because of the terrain, our table was extremely unstable. I had to hold on to my cup the entire time I was eating because you are sitting at a slant where our table was located. If you are eating with children, even with mine being extremely careful, anytime they moved. The drinks were at a risk of spilling all over everything so make sure that you keep that in mind when you are deciding which table to eat at. The food was good, I have eaten at the steakhouse up here, and at apple Annie's, and most major restaurants located in this area. This is one of the best places I've tried up here. I was a little surprised at the bill. Our meal included one child's plate, one bean and cheese burrito, and two Meals. Two iced teas. Without the tip, $80. The servers were very friendly and attentive. Im glad we tried it- I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again though.

After taking a look around the town, we decided to stop for some Mexican food. It was a chilly day but the seating outside was nice and calm so we were comfortable. Seating inside is limited anyways, so outside is where you'd likely sit. They had clean bathrooms in the back of the building and a large patio in the back! Nobody sat in the bad the day we were there. My son and I ordered kids meal burritos with fries, which were about $13 each. The burrito was on the smaller side and the fries were all burnt to crisps. The burrito was delicious so that made up for it! Their chips and salsa are also very good. My fiancé got a taco place that he loved so much he wiped it clean! All together for the three of us, without ordering drinks, it was about $60! It was not bad but definitely not great enough to be that pricey, so I don't quite understand that. The service was good. Take note: they charge for chips if you finish your first basket! So aside from bad fries and the cost, I would say this is a solid place to eat! :)

I've had a lot of food put inside this belly, but never have I wanted to just keep eating until I couldn't get up lol, I really wanted to try everything and then take some home. I can't believe it taste soo good, whoever that chef was xoxoxo I was so tempted to even lick the plate lol ... the staff was really friendly even tho it was extremely busy, but it didn't even feel like there was a wait, much love to the owner, you really run a great business and that love music whoa@! I kept thinking it was the jukebox

That is the ground beef on my tostada. Like a meatball. Had to use a fork to eat the thing.

The location is great, however that is where it ends. Been here once before and food was blah- but it's been a while so hit it up again. The service was fine. Zero complaints there. Food however- mediocre at best. Like D-. This is definitely for unseasoned people. Step above Taco Bell- barely. Flavorless. Salsa was like water, too much cilantro and not spicy. Chicken taquitos were yuck. Covering the food with toppings doesn't make it taste better. Chicken was not shredded at all. Huge chunks. No flavor. Made husbands stomach hurt all day. My tostada with ground beef- I don't even know what to say. We forced it down from hunger. Honestly- perfect for people who eat white washed Mexican food. Any abuelita would cry over this food. No bueno.

What a great little spot in beautiful Oak Glen! Such a welcome getaway during this quarantine and outdoor vibe is exactly what the Dr. ordered ! Enjoy ice cold beer, bottle & draft as well as delicious Mexican food with great music, birds chirping and a cool breeze out on the patio. Highly recommend, come out and enjoy a hot meal outdoors, the kitchen is open until 6:30 pm, you won't regret it!!

I usually get their taquitos (pro tip get the guac on the side) , shredded beef tacos, and the garbage burrito with no onion. The garbage burrito just hits that spot like nothing else!! I will crave this exact burrito every month or two and it delivers every single time. The tortilla is fresh, soft, and has a nice chew while the pork is so incredibly tender and flavorful. Also, their red hot sauce is to DIE FOR!!! It's the best hot sauce I've ever had, to the point where I could grab a straw and drink this stuff. Not sure why the reviews mention bad service as they are always very friendly and helpful when I'm here and the times I do call-in orders they get everything correct and the food is ready on time. This location is big, in a nice location off Yucaipa Blvd, and the interior is very spacious with plenty of seating and a couple TVs inside. From the moment our server (tall skinny guy with tattoos) came to our table, he was rude, dismissive, and acting strange. We are understanding people who have worked as servers and in hospitality previously and decided to remain polite, give him the benefit of the doubt, and attempt to still enjoy our dinner. However, it progressively got worse. He repeatedly cut us off while we were speaking, made sarcastic and strange remarks, rushed us to order drinks, skipped over my sister in law, rolled his eyes multiple times, shouted "if you were listening you would have heard me say I'm bringing water for everyone" very rudely when someone asked for a water, and then didn't return to take our food order for almost 30 minutes after he brought our drinks. When he did return, he was again being rude. It got to the point where he was actually making us feel uncomfortable and we asked if everything was okay and explained that his behavior felt disrespectful. We requested a different server, but instead of addressing our concerns, he began arguing with us, raised his voice, said, "can I trade you guys out" then he abruptly walked away... At that point, we decided to get up and go to the front to pay for our drinks and leave. We explained the situation to the manager, who offered personal reasons for the employee's behavior. While we sympathize with anyone going through a difficult time, we don't feel it's an excuse to treat customers poorly when they have been polite and respectful and put up with his poor behavior longer than we should've have in the first place. As we were speaking with the manager he was nearby and saying weird things under his breath again. While we were walking out after paying with the manager, the server continued shouting at us and saying rude things across the restaurant. He even asked my brother in law if he was trying to fight while we were walking out... we didn't say anything to retaliate and left the restaurant to find another spot for dinner. We had a small child with us and he was acting erratically, so just wanted to share a tale of caution. The food has always been good, the staff (besides the gentleman we had tonight) is friendly, and we've supported this restaurant for years, but hopefully they can ensure a safer and more pleasant dining experience for guests.
