Came here with a friend for a late lunch and the food was enjoyable. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was fast and prompt. I ordered a side of guacamole to go along with the chips and salsa. Both were delicious! I ordered a small frozen margarita and it was a perfect size, not to mention it tasted good! For the main, I order a combination dinner of 2 enchiladas(chicken) and 1 taco (chicken). Everything tasted well and I was able to take home leftovers. Overall, I would come back here to try out other items. They do have a large menu!

Shrimp Tacos de Lujo (Soft Shell) (super delicious and I asked for green sauce on the side) Comes with three tacos and it is very filling!

Great food and it always comes out hot. The servers are really nice and accommodating.

Can't speak to much about the service, only 5 people in the restaurant at the time. The atmosphere is pretty nice not a bad place at all. I ordered a chimichanga, they were out of shredded beef, which is kind of strange for three in the afternoon. I got steak instead it was honestly not that good. Nothing to write home about so to speak. I think there's better places to go in this establishment.

    Fajitas

My husband and I stopped here during a trip from Texas back to Ohio. We're always on the lookout for good, basic, authentic (to our non-Mexican taste buds) Mexican food, and this place fit nicely. The atmosphere was bright and cheerful - and busy, which is always a good sign. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. My husband ordered chicken fajitas and I had the super nachos. Both dishes were delicious. Sopapillas with ice cream followed the really good entrees. Mezcal's is Not fine dining. It is just what it says it is: good, basic, tasty Mexican food. The fajitas were tasty and contained an ample amount of chicken and the sopapillas were crispy and "cinnamony." The restaurant gets an extra star from me because they were helpful and accommodating. I have the "cilantro gene," which means cilantro tastes to me like soap. It completely ruins any dish it touches, so it's really important for the kitchen to omit it from my plate. I asked the server to make sure my nachos didn't have any of the "demon herb" and she made note of that. When my plate arrived, the cook had not only omitted the pico de gallo, which is Always filled with cilantro, but had replaced it with fresh chopped tomatoes. That never happens. The tiny extra step said a lot about their customer service, and I decided it had earned them a positive Yelp review! It is unlikely we will have the opportunity to visit this restaurant again, but if we were local to the area, we'd probably pop in there often. Give it a try.

Having mexican with very special friends & the gf

My first time here has been a great experiencefrom the service to the atmosphere. The hostess had to have been one of the most hospitable i've encountered in all of my dining experiences as she made sure we were settled in with a clean bused table & a server ready to take our drink & app. orders. I was very happy with my server as she greeted our party with a smile introduced herself & was ready to start us off with our drink orders along with chips and salsa. I absolutely love the atmosphere from it's picture and decorative motif along with the color scheme and furnishings that made El Mezcal wonderful to enjoy a meal at. When it comes to some of their competitors they just slap a few things together Mexico without making an effort. When it came to the food and drink portion of my dining experience El Mezcal was just run of the mill of any other mexican restaurant in the area same taste. You'll see me say that about any Mexican restaurant in the area. The Margaritas were not watered down unlike some places in the area but when it comes to Margaritas they are hit-and-miss by location & establishments. My server is bringing me my dish after I've finished my first margarita. Which was timed out perfectly as I like to have my first drink before my food. So far so good my food was hot coming to the table prepped correctly as I ordered. I also have to say the chef did a wonderful job in preparing my partys, orders too as none of their orders were cold also their dishes were prepared to their expectations. For my overall experience I will be coming back as I was pleased & will recommend this place to my friends who attend Bellevue on Sundays or to friends I happen to be spending time with in the area that are in the mood for Mexican. Thank you El Mezcal for your hospitality & service. Be sure to like El Mezcal on FB & tell a friend. https://www.facebook.com/pages/El-Mezcal/159340177493796

Every time I go here the price of a large cheese dip with chips to go has increased by $1 The last 2 times I went I ask for an extra bag of chips and they charge me extra. They Also told me one time that I had to pay extra for salsa. I'm pretty sure I dont pay more for chips and salsa When I dine in. Look at this "extra" bag of chips. I will chose a different restaurant for Cheese dip going forward

Steak chilaquiles with red sauce, rice, and beans
    Bridgett J.

This El Mezcal is tucked away at the end of the strip center on 64 with Kroger. I recently saw that they had chilaquiles on their lunch menu, which made me very happy. Chilaquiles are such comfort food, and on this Cyber Monday, my tummy was very much in need of comfort. Online ordering can work up an appetite! I opted for take-out, since I needed to man my post at my laptop, and was delighted to see that my take-out order included chips and salsa! It's one of my favorites, and I've noticed that some restaurants have begun omitting them as a "given" accoutrement. My verdict on the chilaquiles? Not my favorite in town, but very tasty, nonetheless! I must warn you that I got the red sauce, which I assumed would be the red enchilada sauce they use on top of, well, enchiladas, but also the burritos and steaks and stuff. It was a lot spicier than I expected. There was a very strong element of chipotle, and the result was that my mouth had a low fire going on, and my nose was dripping a bit. If you like heat, (and I do - very much!) it's no big deal. If you are like my husband and daughter, and very sensitive to spice, this would be too much for you. The chilaquiles also comes with a green (verde) sauce. I haven't tried it yet, but that might be a milder option for those with a lower threshold for heat. Everyone is always so nice when I come in here. My orders are always right, and it never takes too long for them to prepare my food. I also appreciate how they decorate for the holidays. They keep it festive!

Looks like almost all new staff too, that could definitely use some Customer Service training. The menu has a 3rd name on it that seemed off as well. I was not told to come to the hostess stand to be seated, no friendly greeting when I did approach the stand. Once seated, the chip & salsa dude was quick enough in dripping them off w/out so much as a greeting. Maybe he's the silent type? Who knows? 2 Now the real wait begins.... Nothing to drink nor any sign of anyone even slowing down @ my table to take a drink order. Maybe they were fighting to see who would take my order? ‍ I was almost finished w/the basket of chips, decided what I wanted and LAID THE CLOSED MENU on the other side of the table close to the edge, hoping someone would notice. I had decided if they couldn't be bothered to come by the time I finished the chips I was leaving. Magically a waitress finally shows up w/3 chips to spare. Placed the order for water and dinner at the same time. Dinner came out quickly but looking pitiful w/barely a full tablespoon of guac, tomatoes or sour cream. Cheap bastards! The flour part of the chimichanga was NOT CRISP, & I was given plastic utensils to maneuver this sad plate. I have eaten here MANY times as I live in the area so I am more than disappointed w/this experience. Not a single customer sitting in the middle @ the 4-tops & @ least 7 booths empty; on a Saturday night @ 8:00 pm. Torta Villa Carbon (4/5; marinated grilled chicken topped with grilled onions, grilled pineapple, melted cheese, jalapeños, and avocado): This was huge. I ended up saving half for lunch the next day. The combination of sweet and savory flavors worked really well together. 2. Campechano Burrito (4/5; steak strips and chorizo with rice, beans, lettuce, onion, tomato, and jalapeño): Steak and chorizo are always a winning combination, and this burrito did not disappoint. 3. Chirucas Chimichanga (4/5; two medium chimichangas stuffed with rice, beans, cheese dip, and your choice of meat, served with lettuce, pico de gallo, and sour cream): I chose the grilled marinated pork (al pastor), which was flavorful and satisfying. The server mentioned that the chicken version is their favorite. The service was decent overall, though it could be slow at times. I noticed a few tables waiting a while before servers came to take orders or refill drinks, and my drink was empty for a bit before getting a refill. Dinner service can get very busy, as every table was once full in one of my visits. Would I come back? Absolutely.
