If you want to eat the best Cuban sandwich in key west, this place is a must. Small family owned restaurant, also try their Cuban coffee. Great and lovely customer service! 10/10

Que rico! Delicious Cuban comfort foods served up in a small unpretentious spot in a warm and friendly way. Loving doting hospitality. And they really feed you here too, that's for sure. There's a certain succulence to the foods that's exceedingly difficult to find in a restaurant. Love, love, loved the smoked pork chops. Nice touch too, the warm, flattened, buttered breads. Yumn. And the beans, my Gods.

The Best Cuban restaurant in Key West is on Stock Island, Cuban cooking cooked by Cubans!

All you need to know is El Mocho makes their own Cuban bread. They make their own Cuban flan. And it's Cuban owners doing Cuban cooking. I have been eating here since I was a kid and now it's where my Key West kids ask to go when we are looking for something delicious and local. One of the last remaining genuine Old Key West restaurants, and it was definitely the one to we are glad stuck around! If you are as serious about as authentic Cuban as our family, the best Cuban cooking in Key West is El Mocho!

Affordable, delicious Cuban food located in Stock Island. They have great lunch specials and super friendly staff. It's a simple and plain place, but don't be fool the food is delicious. Try the ajiaco soup or the picadillo or the pork chops-- these are my favorites. And in my opinion , they serve one of the best cafe con leche on the island.

When I initially decided to try this restaurant, I thought it was Mexican food. After sitting down and looking at the menu, I quickly discovered there were no tacos, burritos, enchiladas, or anything like that. I didn't realize that this is a Cuban restaurant. Then I realized the amazing smells coming from the kitchen and I knew I was at a true and authentic Cuban food restaurant. Very clean, the service was excellent. I ordered the hamburger and fries. This is not a common hamburger, but it came out on Cuban bread with a Cuban spice. That was excellent. You know when you're in a authentic Cuban restaurant when virtually everyone that walks through the door is Cuban and they all know each other. This is a small restaurant that you could easily pass by. But I would highly recommend stopping and trying the food. The people were wonderful, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was very authentic. Price is extremely reasonable.

What's a trip down to S. Florida without some awesomely good, no-nonsense, stick to your ribs, authentic Cuban food?!? Well, I for one didn't want to have to answer that question, so as soon as we had a chance, we took some back roads (thank you, crazy, MESSY traffic jam on Rt. 1!!) and found this WONDERFUL family-run "greasy spoon" that was definitely a hidden gem!!! This is the place for a stick to your ribs breakfast or lunch (we came for a late morning brunch) that I ***STILL*** crave WEEKS later!! Just a simple Cuban sandwich, a side order of tostones, and a café con leche that dreams are made of!! Bob had a steak sandwich with fries which left him equally FELIZ!! TONS of choices; if I could, I'd be back again and again to sample the whole menu!! I love a cozy, simple, well-run family place, and this is one of the best, down to the cute as a button, gossiping little girls who will clean up the tables the second the diners leave, the quick, friendly service, the authentic, homemade specialties (that you KNOW are fresher than fresh and NOT made for "gringo" palates!!!) and the super-reasonable prices. What a GREAT find!!!!

Our research told us that this would be a great meal and it truly was. I ordered the pork chunks, which were perfectly fried and so flavorful and tender on the inside. My wife ordered Ropa Vieja which was pulled beef, which wasn't as good, but still quite tasty. Had to bring food back home with us, which we ate for various snacks before we departed. Fast food and a nice hidden gem in the town. Glad we had this kick off our trip.

The restaurant is tucked away on a back street, far from the usual tourist spots, which adds to its charm. The food is authentic Cuban cuisine -- and I say that after decades of living in and around Hudson County, NJ, where the Cuban community is large and vibrant. At El Siboney, everything tastes fresh and homemade, with generous portions and prices that are refreshingly reasonable for Key West. This visit, I ordered the whole fried yellow snapper, served with yuca, yellow rice, and beans. My dinner companion had the Siboney skirt steak, one of the restaurant's popular dishes, served with a choice of sides. Both meals were excellent. Dessert was equally impressive: a delicious slice of tres leches cake and silky vanilla custard that were the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience. Dinner for two, including dessert and tip, came to about $100 -- a great value for the quality and quantity of food. El Siboney remains one of my favorite places to eat in Key West.

Most of the seating is outdoors, which could be tough on a sweltering Key West afternoon, but the interior is heavily themed and they did a fantastic job with the vibe. Yes, prices are a little high, but that's just Key West. The service, however, was great, and the food was exceptional. I ordered the Chuleta de Puerco, and it was genuinely some of the best pork I've ever had. All entrees come with your choice of white or yellow rice, beans, and another side, I went with the yuca. My girlfriend got the Bistec Palomilla medium rare, and they nailed the temperature perfectly. That's a thin piece of meat, so most places overcook it, but it was perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. Dessert was great, don't sleep on it. The Guava Bread Pudding was unlike anything I have ever had and the Tres Leches was perfect, moist without being overly sweet. To top it off, I had the best café con leche of my life. Here's where things took a turn: At the end of the meal, I poured a spoonful of the Tres Leches directly into my café con leche. The moment I took a sip, the table shifted. A warm energy entered my body, and before I knew what was happening, I was fully possessed by the ghost of Pepe himself. I blacked out completely and woke up in a hotel room three days later. According to a local newspaper clipping on the nightstand, I had somehow won a town-wide domino tournament and consumed enough rum to kill a small pirate crew. 10/10 food, service, and atmosphere. However, I am currently seeking a local exorcist. Pepe is still living inside me and refuses to leave until he gets another plate of yuca.

This is an area of tourism but we do live in Florida and have driven to the keys many times. This time we decided ti bring our family from out of town! What a disappointment this was! It was a party of 11 people. The majority Ordered the breaded fried chicken "Pollo empanisado" The chicken was overcooked but rubber like it seemed to me like when you take frozen chicken and try to defrost fast ... we left the chicken and ate the rice and black beans alone. The plantains were hard and cold . Just terrible! I love Cuban food and the "hole in the walls" are much better than this fancy all decorated beautifully!!! I take good tasty food cooked to perfection over the looks of a place. The manager said she took off two dinners off the bill but it was still over 300 dollars We will never come back here neither I can recommend this place to anyone at least the chicken and plantains. The food is excellent--flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and consistently satisfying--but what truly sets this place apart is the service, especially when you're seated at the bar. As a bar guest, I experienced something far above exceptional. It felt like walking into a place I already loved and being shown the very best of it by people who genuinely care. To the bartenders and staff who made every visit feel that way: Dairy-ah (I'm almost certainly butchering the spelling, but the pronunciation stuck with me), thank you for the warmth, the skill, and the way you made the bar feel welcoming every time. Lucy--always with the hat on backwards--you became my spirit animal the moment I realized how perfectly that energy matched the whole vibe of the place. Thank you for being exactly who you are behind that bar. Brittney, the chillest of them all: your calm, easy presence made everything feel lighter and better. Chelsea, I only got to have you serve me once, but that one time was enough to know how good you are at this. And to the Servers, Paul and Lola: even in our brief interactions while I was at the bar, both of you brought such strong, genuine personalities that it elevated the whole experience. Thank you for that. Blue Heaven is an amazing restaurant with great food and even greater service. But more than that, it's the people who make it feel like coming home and being shown the best time in a place you love the most. Thank you--truly--to all of you for making it feel that way. And to Henry, a longtime regular at the bar, who passed away during my visit.
