The business has already expanded significantly from my first visit when the food was just served on styrofoam plates and to-go boxes, and I'm excited to see how they continue to expand. Delicioso!! This place is really good try their kola champagne for a soft drink. It's a unique flavor that you definitely cant find anywhere else. I attached the receipt so you can see what we ordered and their affordable prices. Everything was delicious and very hearty. One recommendation is to not go during the week because alot of the things we tried to order they did not have. Our waitress told us that during the week the items are limited on the menu so if you want the full experience go on the weekend. read more

The mofongo was good. Nicely flavored and moist. I can't say the same for the pork chop which was skimpy. You will leave feeling full, but mostly from the carbs. For the price, I suggest that the proprietors think about increasing the size of the proteins. read more

We have been wanting to try this place for a while. We decided to finally give it a try. Meats was way over seasoned and tough and sides the yellow rice was very bland and Mofongo had no flavor. Pernil mofongo was alright. Cheese empanadas were filled with 2-3 processed cheese slices. I would suggest they change their oil soon, kind of ruined the flavor of the food. Could be really good if there was a little more love put in the food. read more

Just came out from California to visit my father and went to El Mofongo. The staff was great and the place was clean. The food was excellent!!! I would suggest the Shrimp Mofongo for those who like. I will definitely be bringing my family here when we come to visit again. read more

A great idea if you a) miss Puerto Rican food or b) love garlic. The mofongo and alcapurrias were excellent - took me straight back to PR. This place is amazing! I had their roast pork with yellow rice and fried pork chop with mofongo mmmmmm yummy! And ask for hot sauce- they will bring out two: hot sauce that you know and vinegar based hot sauce which was amazing on everything! They were super nice and I will definitely be coming back! Downtown San Juan. So, if your a tourist and willing to just go for it head to this place. I wanted local food and atmosphere and found it here. The mofongo was really good. Made from plantains and covered with your choice of local sauces. I had the crab. Good stuff. Black beans on the side and fried plantains. NEVER AGAIN. THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO GIVE ME MOJO DE AJO WITH COOKING OIL! The rice wasn't washed so there was black stuff all over it. The carne frita had no flavor. NO SALT. NO GARLIC. The bacalao had too much flour. We waited an hour to be seated and then another hour to get our food. The service was horrible. PERIOD. We had to ask multiple times for our drinks, caldo de pollo for our mofongo and everything overall lacked flavor. Even the drinks, probably even the coke. read more

Great little restaurant that you would not expect! My husband and I were looking for something new for a date night and had found a Groupon. Researching restaurants on the list, we found this. My husband is half Puerto Rican and we have only found two places that serve PR food and not very close to us. He got the fried plantains and fried pork with rice and I got the shrimp with rice.The placed was packed at almost 9pm and the food was flavorful. He really enjoyed the plantains and the pork was cooked just right. We will be going back! Nice little family run restaurant. read more

The Mofongo w/churasco was okay. I can't believe a Mofongo is like $6 and they charge you $12 more for Churasco. If the food was on point then I could understand. I'm Puerto Rican and was not satisfied with the flavors. The chicharron was soft instead of slightly crunchy. They gave me a sauce that tasted old and sour. Won't be going back. read more

I test all Puertorriqueño restaurants by their mofongo and flan dishes. This place did not disappoint! Their mofongo was flavorful and the cook did not shy from using garlic, which many similar restaurants cut back and make the mofongo tasteless. Their flan selections were good as well. Very custardy! Eating here bring me back to Puerto Rico when I was there for a Spanish immersion summer. One could compare their authenticity to any other Puertorriqueño restaurant in South Florida or Puerto Rico. Five stars, because I'm leaving the restaurant full and happy. The dining room is small, friendly and family-oriented. The staff were friendly and answered our questions. The food was really good. The signature Mofango was tasty, spiced with garlic and quite filling. We chose the roasted pork for our platter. it also had good flavor and was hot out of the kitchen. I suggest getting one platter and a side and splitting it for two people. Plenty of food. We also tried the Kola, I thought it was too sweet but tasted good. We will visit again!! read more

Read some great reviews and decided to try them. Small restaurant, but excellent food, service, and restrooms. Did not expect this good a location, but it was fantastic. Only problem was there was too much food with the mofongo combinations, and to make matters worse, we ordered sides of bacalaitos, tostones, and amarillos! Service was excellent. Yummy! I stopped by for the first time randomly on Tuesday afternoon to grab something for dinner. I was NOT disappointed! My husband and I wanted Puerto Rican food and we read reviews on this place and were indifferent but to our surprise the place was really nice. The waitress/hostess (daughter I believe) was personable and attentive. The food was fresh and tasted good. Unfortunately, they were out of rice around 7pm on a Monday night but they made up for it with the other things we ordered. Would recommend the bistec encebollado con tostones.
