Usual family Mexican fare with colorful booth seating, red and green salsa, unlimited tortilla chips, and huge portions to put you out of commission for 24 hours. Service was slow, but we didn't mind because it was boy's night and we needed time to sip our drinks. The food is what you expect. Had the Chicken and veggie Soup, without the chicken(substitute rice) and it was excellent and flavorful. Another had the mole Anchorage's and they were really tasty. This is a solid place to go for Mexican lunch or dinner. The parking lot is a little tight and seems to always be full. Inside is spacious, comfortable with festive decor. I was considering a light lunch but ended up with much more. The Chicken Tortilla bowl of soup was a meal in itself with plenty of chicken, tortilla strips, cheese and some vegetables . I order as a side the small chicken enchilada. It wasn't small and came in a puddle of melted cheeses, coleslaw and was stuffed with shredded chicken. In addition, I was given chips, a watery salsa and a small bowl of refried beans with a garnish. Seeing a spoon in the salsa it finally occurred to me that the salsa there to add flavoring for the beans. Ice tea came in a quart jar. All the food was very good. The service was good and the restaurant interior is nicely decorated with booths for privacy. read more

We've been going to this restaurant since before the pandemic, always find time to stop by here on the way back to California. Good food with huge servings, good service. The ambiance is laid back, pretty crowded on Sundays especially during lunch. We miss the free queso dip but you can still buy some from the menu. We also visited them during the pandemic, they were doing to go orders and did pretty well to handle that challenge. Sometimes we also just do takeouts if we're in a rush. The to go food trays are so large, you'd think it's for catering a group of people. Solid place and worth a quick detour from the freeway. It's difficult to find bad Mexican food in Medford, Oregon. For me the standard is how well a restaurant makes what I consider a standard meal the Chile Relleno and Cheese Enchilada. These are deceptively difficult dishes to make well and so for me the determining factor is the attention to small details. The food I received here wasn't the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it was well made and tasty. Better than average. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, the bar is really well set up. What sets this place apart are the Nachos. We ordered cheese nachos as an appetizer in the bar. I am giving an updated review. The staff is great, restrooms are great, a nice atmosphere great for many occasions. The food quality is good and I mean every time we go there it is good. Chips are great and their recipe for salsa I enjoy very much. We typically only order the enchiladas and if it was up to me, I would reduce the amount of cheese to about half. It's beyond me why more restaurants don't include the molcajete on their menu. If you're not familiar, it's basically a spicy, super-flavorful salsa soup filled with various ingredients and kept piping hot in a heavy stone bowl. Even a bad molcajete is still pretty good but - in the case of this place - it's PHENOMENAL. ...and I guess it should be given that it's their namesake and all... The meat trio molcajete is packed with chicken, beef, shrimp, nopales (cactus), green onion, bell pepper, onions, a huge chunk of Mexican white cheese that melts completely so that it blends in with the salsa soup, and a jalapeño on top. Some go for it directly with a fork or spoon; I prefer to scoop it onto a tortilla for a makeshift burrito, or go fishing in the bowl with a tortilla chip - every bite different than that rest... This thing costs $20 but can EASILY feed two, especially considering the ample side portion of rice, beans, avocado, sour cream and salsa that they bring out. I ended up tackling this alone and wish I had brought a friend - it's really too much to take on solo. This restaurant also brings out a generous portion of chips, salsa, and refried beans right when you sit down - avoid the temptation to fill up before the main course comes out! The topper are two little fried cinnamon crisps brought out as part of the meal for dessert, topped with whipped cream and some sort of berry sauce. Amazing food, just too much of it for one person!!! Finally, the waitstaff is incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive. I was seated promptly, order taken with no delay, food came out in reasonable time, and no sitting around waiting for the check. I wasn't sure what to expect of a Mexican restaurant in Medford, OR and was very, very pleasantly surprised all around. This is an awesome place. read more
