Absolutely amazing food! The sliced beef shank was outstanding. We were told it's one of the Sichuan chef's signature dishes, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The chili oil and peppers were incredibly fragrant, with layers of flavor that made the dish unforgettable. The Boiled Beef was equally delicious. The broth was rich, thick, and packed with flavor, and the beef was tender and perfectly cooked. Every bite was satisfying. Everything was so good that we completely cleaned our plates before realizing we had forgotten to take photos! We even ordered a Beef Chow Fun to go because we wanted more. On top of the excellent food, both the owner and his wife were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It's rare to discover such authentic and delicious Chinese food in a small, out-of-the-way town. At my medical doctor's recommendation I decided to try Dragon Express. I went in on this Sunday and ordered Moo Shu Pork. It came out fairly quickly and was delivered by the robot as well as the woman who took my order. First of all the pancakes were the best I have ever seen at any Asian restaurant ever!!!! they were hot, thin, delicate, but strong and tasted great. The Moo Shu mixture itself was fine; however, no sauce was provided. I've never had that experience. Always before either plum sauce or hoisin sauce has been provided and it makes the dish wonderful. I would've asked for hoisin sauce, but I never saw my server again. She never came back to check on me until it was time to pay the bill. I am going to go back and give it another try but this time when I placed my order, I am going to specify that I would like hoisin sauce. If I were going to recommend any improvement for this restaurant, it would be that the server is more friendly and checks in on you a few minutes after serving you to ask if you need anything else so that you can fully enjoy your meal. read more

We ordered the eggplant green bean stir fry dish, steamed shrimp dumplings and the fried rice. The food was pretty good. Not the best shrimp dumplings I've ever had but they weren't bad! The restaurant was relatively busy and maybe they had online orders as well, it seemed our fried rice might've been forgotten and it was brought out sometime after we asked about it. We heard a bunch of tables around us also had forgotten and/or late orders. Might've been an extra busy night for them. I think the fried rice would be yummier if it had that wok hay char aroma. Found some pretty good Chinese food in Medford. The Szechuan dishes were really good. The La Zi Chicken had a really good kick. The Cumin Lamb, Chow Mein and Salt and Pepper wings were just standard. The Dry Pot Calamari was the star. Tender, lightly fried calamari with Szechuan spices were perfect. Potatoes in the dish didn't seem to belong. I don't know if I've ever had potato in a Chinese dish ever. Service was good and fast. Highly recommend this place if in Medford. read more

Dragon Express showed potential for a 5 star review but some mistakes lowered this review to 3 stars. The night started with missing a table setting. Not a deal breaker but when you have to chase down your server after the food arrives is an issue. The timing of the food service was off. They sent the robot out dish by dish so one could eat while the rest watched. My La Zi Chicken was an afterthought. Everyone was eating and we had to ask the server to check on that dish. It took another 10 minutes to come out. And even then it was missing the rice. The standout dish was my granddaughter's Chow mein. It was some of the best we had tasted. The hot and sour soup was just okay as were the spring rolls. The La Zi Chicken had great flavor but was not as crispy as others I had tried before. Coors Light was not ice cold and water served with tiny metal cups was somewhat strange. Not bad but not great. Kind of average and therefore 3 stars. read more

A common complaint in Southern Oregon is the lack of great Chinese restaurants, and we're lucky for Dragon Express to put those critics to rest. Now that we've had the opportunity to visit multiple times, I feel we can make a fair assessment of the overall menu, and Dragon Express is the emperor of Chinese food in the area. With a large menu that includes classic American Chinese options in addition to more authentic fare, this restaurant can be a crowd pleaser for a range of preferences. If you want to go with stateside standbys of orange chicken or broccoli beef, you can't go wrong. The dim sum offerings are solid: xiao long bao (soup dumplings), har gao (shrimp dumpling) or siu mai (mixed dumpling) are what you'd expect and will please the table. If you're feeling more adventurous or are banging on the table for 'authentic' options, there is a submenu for such a palate. I am semi-addicted to their La Tzi Chicken, which is like a peppercorn/chili infused and topped chicken plate. Strangely on the menu, it has no 'hot pepper' indicator, but trust me, it's more like 3 peppers. If you are a pepper belly like me, this is a great one, but otherwise, go tamer. Service always seems a bit slammed, but they do a solid job. It's probably because everyone is starting to discover this place. Takeout is a brisk business on top of the dine-in crowd. The ambience is a little meh, but that's what you get with a chinese restaurant built inside an old Bobbio's pizza location. This place is worth the drive for me. And yes, there are robots that assist in the service. read more

As a Chinese person living in the U.S., I have to give this restaurant a huge shout-out. Honestly, after spending so many years in both China and the United States, I've never come across a Chinese restaurant that does both American Chinese food and authentic Chinese cuisine this well. I had a chance to chat with the owner and learned that the two chefs in the kitchen are both experienced chefs from Sichuan, China. Finding a restaurant with this much character and genuine warmth in a small city like this is truly a blessing. One thing I really appreciate is that they thoughtfully offer both an American-style menu and an authentic Chinese menu. And to all my American friends reading this review: please give the authentic menu a try! Cozy little location with delicious food. Went here with my dad and tried a few items off the menu. He really enjoyed the Mongolian beef, I tried one bite and that's one of the best I have had. I had the general tso's chicken which I enjoyed the taste but it didn't taste like the flavor profile for that dish, it reminded me more of a spicy garlic chicken which I enjoy. I thought it was great that robots bring your food to the table. I really enjoyed this place and will have to go here again soon. read more

We very much enjoyed our trip to Dragon Express. They make both American style and Chinese style Chinese food, so we ordered some of both. We got the Mongolian Beef, La Zi Chicken, Beef Noodle Soup, and Soup Dumplings. The La Zi Chicken is very spicy, so if you don't like spicy food, I would avoid this one, but even though I normally prefer mildly spicy food, it was very flavorful and crispy. The Beef Noodle Soup had a lot of noodles and perhaps not quite as much broth as my family member was used to, but very tasty and a very large portion. The soup dumplilngs were as good as many dedicated dim sum places that we have been. We would definitely return on our next visit to Southern Oregon. read more

Best Chinese in Medford? Perhaps, if you don't expect too much. Nice full menu, divided into Americanized and authentic food. I ordered cumin lamb, my favorite, from the authentic side. Service was a bit overwhelmed on a busy Friday, and I had to remind them to bring the rice which was included with the dish. But once I finally got a chance to order it, the food (delivered by robot) came very quickly. Nicely and characteristically seasoned large pile of food, but the lamb was dry and (underneath the spicing) rather tasteless. Lots of onion and cilantro. Authentic Chinese food in the Rogue Valley! This is truly something to be excited about. I live in Grants Pass so I have to drive down to eat there and have eaten there a few times. They have a pickled fish soup, which is amazing! The fish is poached and melts in your mouth like a dream. It sounds weird, but it is incredible. I've also had the Szechuan ribs. Tasty tasty tasty. My wife really enjoys their curried chicken. It may be less authentic, but it is still delicious. The rogue valley has needed a restaurant like this for sometime.
