I really enjoyed the food at Elements Tapas especially the bacon wrapped dates, peppers and the empanadas, which were absolutely delicious. The cocktails were well-made too! The asparagus and mahi dishes didn't quite hit the mark for me, but the variety and creativity on the menu were still impressive. Service was a little odd it started off really slow and then suddenly picked up and felt rushed toward the end. The restaurant itself is small and quiet, which I liked, but the tile floors are surprisingly slick definitely something to be cautious about, especially for older guests. Prices are on the higher side, though that seems to be the norm for most tapas places. This is a hard review to write but things were just not right here. Visually, the restaurant was really nice. We sat down in a booth and the seats were really uncomfortable. Foam was broken down. We ordered wine, the house pallella, and a few appetizers. The wine took 20 minutes to show up and the pallella (which they tell you will yake 20 minutes) took almost a hour and a half. Overall, flavors were bland and uninspired. There didn't seem to be enough staff for a busy Friday night and I expect we won't be trying them again. read more

We had wanted to try this place as we love trying many different foods and tapas. We brought our parents to check it out. We were greeted right away and seated at a booth. It is an old brick building and is like an old style speakeasy. Beautiful old wooden bar. They have a full bar so you can order cocktails, beer and wine. They have some signature cocktails. We decided on several shareable items on the menu. All were delicious and we had just enough room for dessert which were fresh made churros. They were so light and fluffy. What a pleasant surprise! Just passing thru town, we chose Elements for dinner. Very cute corner restaurant off Main Street. Half bar and half booths and high top tables, with a few couch seating areas around the front. No high-chairs or kid booster seats however. All the tapas we tried were delicious! They have lots of options from seafood to steak and salads. Everything was moderately priced, and there was also a special $10 tapas menu offered too. Our waiter was the best. Overall I could see myself and my husband becoming regulars if we lived next door. I'd recommend this place for date nights or anyone wanting to relax at a cool cozy bar. Not dive-y at all. 3.5 stars. Late night dining can be a challenge in Medford but Elements helps fill the void with their impressive menu of tapas and paella. They also have daily special additions to the main menu worth checking out. I opted for 3 tapas plates. First to arrive was the Spanish ceviche. A tasty mix of yellow tail, scallop, Serrano and cilantro. Served as 3 individual bites on house made tortilla chip rounds. While it was tasty and enjoyable, it had the appearance and texture of ceviche that had been sitting around a while. Pale and lifeless in color. It wad good, but could be better. Next up was steak canapés. Flat iron steak, lemon aioli, and house made chimichurri. Served 3 to a plate on sliced baguette. I devoured these but the chimichurri lacked that vibrant color you expect from it. It looked sort of brownish like it had been sitting around a while. Finally the oyster crab. 3 oysters Rockefeller style and 3 fried crab bites with lemon aioli. This was ok. I would've preferred the delicate oysters be served raw. The fresh flavors were masked by the overpowering topping. Cocktails are amazing with a great selection of top shelf liquor and expertly crafted. Elements Tapas has been our place for special occasions for years. We love the atmosphere, attention to detail, and unique dishes. Papas del Toro is my favorite dish. The crisp potatoes, tender oxtail, perfectly pungent truffle oil, white cheddar cheese, frisée, and perfectly poached eggs go together so nicely. It's the ultimate shareable comfort food. I've ordered it many, many times because it is just so deliciously unique. My last visit for my birthday with my two friends was absolutely horrendous. The place smelled like rotten bums. The restaurant was dead. The kitchen staff emerged a few times, and the filthy sight of them combined with the smell, should have been our sign to leave. We had already ordered drinks, and bites, however, so we stayed. After all, I had never had a bad experience. When the food came out, it didn't appear to be bad. We ordered the Patatas Braves, Manchego and Bacon Dip, and the Papas Del Toro w/poached eggs ($32). My friends and I all served ourselves some of each tapa and visited while we sampled the food. During that time, there was a person in the restaurant that needed an ambulance, and the server became pretty engrossed in that. Not a huge deal, but important to note that we weren't really checked on. When he finally came back to ask how things were, he sold us another round of drinks, and left before I could tell him about the sub par food. At that point, two of us had spit out meat from the Papas Del Toro, because it was too chewy and we'd found bone splinters in it. That has never happened in years of ordering the dish. The poached eggs were also grossly undercooked (egg snot rockets) and the potatoes were not crisp - they were soggy. There were three tiny, pathetic little slimy pieces of frisèe - hardly detectable with all the excess grease that sogged out the potatoes. It was not good at all and cost $32! However, the three of us had all sampled it, tried to enjoy it, so about half of it was eaten. When he was finally able to talk to us, I let the server know that the Papas Del Toro was not at all at the level that we would expect. The meat was almost inedible, the potatoes were soggy, and it was just not good. He offered no solution, because "so much had been eaten," not acknowledging the chewed up and spit out pieces of meat on two of our plates. With another patron being loaded up in an ambulance, it was not a time to argue. The server was flustered at that point. So, we paid up and left. As much as I loved Elements Tapas and that delicious dish, I won't be back. The place smelled disgusting. The kitchen staff looked like absolute dirt balls, and the food quality was verifiably terrible. The server didn't have to comp the whole cost of the dish. He could have done just about anything to make good, but he offered nothing. Another decent restaurant in Medford bites the dust. read more

Found this place while driving through Oregon and so glad I did. Upon first entering the restaurant we noticed a large group enjoying food and wine. We were greeted and given a choice of a table. The flank steak was surprisingly tender, usually flank steak is not known for tenderness. Curious, it's also lukewarm. The potatoes were nicely done as well. Like home fries with some crispiness and compliment by some blue cheese to spice up the flavor. Catalunian paella - Hot hot hot! Finally something hot! It was very well done. I've had many paella around the world and this is better than some I've had. The seafood was very fresh, the texture of the Spanish rice was done perfectly. The flavor was done quite well. Madrid cheese bread - That was one impressive cheese bread. The fig, the hazelnut, cheese and the sauce it was extraordinary. Staff are kind and attentive. The bartender makes great drinks. They have a limited selection of Spanish wine. I ordered the mushrooms for the appetizer which comes with bread. It was good. It had button and crimini mushrooms so it would have been nice to add a little more variety of mushrooms to add to the flavor and texture. For the entree, we ordered the "house" paella. The menu indicates 40-minute wait, which was accurate. I found it to be "way" over salted and a bit on the dry side. I felt the flavor was missing a little pizzazz. Their chocolate tart is to die for!!!!!! Delicious! It is dense, not overly sweet and has a little bit of a crunchy crust...some type of nut is blended into the crust. This is the kind of restaurant I normally wouldn't have walked into, given how slow the business appeared. However, we made a reservation based on the raving reviews and decided to give it a try. Four of us sampled four tapas dishes: crispy cauliflower, garlic saffron prawns, the daily special salad, and a clam dish. For the main course, we opted for their house paella. To our delight, every dish was outstanding. The chefs clearly use the best ingredients; the prawns were crisp and fresh, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. Each sauce complemented the main ingredients beautifully. The rice in the paella had the perfect bite, making every mouthful a pleasure. It left me wondering why the business was slow on a Thursday night. The restaurant is located in a run-down downtown area, which might be a factor. Despite this, I sincerely hope this restaurant thrives even in a tough economy. I highly recommend visiting if you find yourself in Southern Oregon.
