Went here with family while I was visiting over Memorial Day weekend. Fortunately, I come from California, so I know Mexican food pretty well. The food here was well seasoned, and the service was good. I ordered the Molcajete, which came with chicken, shrimp, steak, nopales, cheese, and sauce. The sauce was okay, but my favorite part was the char on the meat. They did that really well. It also came with a side of rice, beans, and salad. Service was okay. I noticed the service staff was more inclined to make conversation with the Latinos more so than a gringo. Maybe, " do you have any questions about the menu?" Food was good, steak burrito bowl, took most of it home with me. Zero eye contact, no sense of "happy you're here", took my check/card and thanked me from two booths away for stopping in while she was vacuuming a booth. I've driven by this restaurant a few times but only stopped when most things were closed for 4th of July. We walked in and the place was busy. 90% of people speaking Spanish and I have to say I always feel at home being we are from California. Also a very good indicator the food will be good. I got the street taco plate with Asada, Carnitas and Pastor. My hubby got the Steak Fajita Quesadilla. First let me start by saying the Carnitas was hands down the best I've had in many years. Most places have "surface level" flavor but this pork had flavor throughout. Like someone's abuelita spent the whole day cooking it. The pastor was also super delicious! I'm so happy to have found a place that knows how to make both of these meats. It's worth mentioning that my husband made me try his refried beans, noting "these are the good kind". I agreed they were delicious. Our server was the sweetest girl and I'm so sorry I forgot her name. But we will be back, especially to try the fajitas that were calling my name from a table across the room! read more

I ordered the fajitas for 2. I loved that there were lots of peppers and onions with the steak and shrimp. It was a very generous serving for both of us. I ordered jalapeños on the side, which added a nice kick. Rice, beans and salad rounded out the meals. I'd order this again in a heartbeat! read more

Came here while in the area visiting a friend. One of his favorite Mexi restaurants it was nice. I started off with a nice big, frozen margarita. The chips and salsa were standard, nothing I haven't had and not even a little chunky which would've been a nice touch. The Frozen margarita was probably the best part of the visit. Caught me a nice siesta after drinking it and getting back to my friends. So that tells me it was nice and strong. I went with the Molē ranchero. which was basically chicken tacos. It came with a cut of chicken slathered with molē sauce and the usual beans and rice and tortillas on the side. This was all good, but also pretty average and the sauce was mostly bland. Decently priced but just didn't have any kick to it. My friend got beef fajitas which I tried a bit of. Not bad. The waitresses were very nice, which is always appreciated, but the food was just average, especially compared to slammin' Mexi and Tex Mexi places I've had all around. If you want simple Mexi food and want to bring a big party, El Molcajete will do. There is plenty of seating for that. read more

Don't come here!! This is the worst mexican I've ever tried.I tried the 3 enchiladas de mole platter. Rice was bland. Refried beans were bland. The mole was the only I'd ever tasted that I had to spit out. I have never sent back food --until now. My steak taco alternative was gristly. Pico had unripe tomatoes. It was five stars until a new manager took over. All of the waitresses and waiters that have been serving us for over a year are gone and have been replaced. They took away mild salsa and jacked the prices way up. It's not worth it anymore. Go down the street to Los Mexicanos. Better prices, better servers, and better food there. read more

Just saw another ROACH. The Owner replied to me on a previous message I left when I indicated the bathroom ceiling was falling down and there were roaches... He told me I was wrong. I decided to try them again. This time the bathroom ceiling was fixed but the roach problem is not... I took a few pictures- several so you could see that it moved to prove that I was not wrong on their lack of exterminating or cleanliness! Food was just OK but parts of the meal were brought out at irregular times. I was given two small flour tortillas with chopped beef in the middle...nothing else, no lettuce, salsa, etc. Quite a long time later I got my side of rice, beans , and lettuce. Same way with my husband's fajitas! Service was sporadic. We will not be back. read more

The Tamales are very salty. The cheese dip is watered down. The beef used in the Beef Burritos has an odd taste.

Not only do they charge $10.69 for queso but when they bring it out to me (to go) it has 1 little cup of salsa and a small bag of chips. When I ask for more salsa they give me attitude and tell me they have already given me salsa. They will be more than happy to charge me for some extra if I want. $10.69 for some cheese!!! Driving by this town on our way back to California, my husband and I stopped at a gas station to refuel. We wanted to eat Mexican food so I found this place on Yelp!we ordered veggie burritos to go over the phone. We picked up food and it was very nicely packed in individual foil boxes. The bogrilled peppers, onions and cheese wrapped in tortillas which were topped with red sauce and grilled. Mexican rice, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream and salsa were on the side. I was expecting everything inside the burrito like chipotle's but it was all delicious and I can't complain. The food tasted fresh and my husband being Indian food lover, really really loved it. Sincerely I don't know why it have only a 3 stars rate. I'm from the northwest of Mexico and the chicken soup its authentic. Prices are great and the aguas frescas are made with real fruit. The waitresses are kind and attentive. In addition I got a lollipop for free as dessert. read more

We eat at "El Mo" 3-4 times a week. I've had most everything on the menu except the fish and octopus, and rarely am disappointed. The fajitas are always good, the chicken soup is great, but my new favorite is the burrito California, a huge burrito filled with chicken, steak and shrimp, then covered with cheese sauce. Most authentic Mexican I've found since moving here from California (where there is no shortage of authentic Mexican). Cilantro and onions and carne asada only on a taco? That's correct! Cheese and lettuce and ground beef? That's taco bell (and every other "Mexican" restaurant I've been to here)! Our waiter was super nice, and they went all out decorating for Valentine's Day. This place is a couple blocks from the truck stop, that I park at. The first thing I noticed is that it is very loud due to several tvs being on different channels and the music was going. I was there with another customer who was seated in a different part of the restaurant. I ordered the enchiladas special which consist of one bean, chicken, beef, and cheese enchilada. The food was good. For those complaining of bland salsa, you can ask for spicier salsa, they have it and it's good. The chips were fresh and warm. The service was excellent. For twenty dollars I had my dinner, two coronas, and dessert. I gave a five dollar tip and made sure the server knew I appreciate good service. This may not be the best Mexican restaurant but the food was good and worth the price read more

Tacos Asada with corn tortilla, cilantro and onions (lunch)...is maybe 5 bux and delicious. Spicy ceviche is excellent. The whole fired fish is excellent. The tomatillo salsa is a must. Order it plain or If you like smokey spice try the spicy tomatillo (combinade) with a chipotle like paste. Pulled pork tacos are excellent. All around this is an above average Mexican place. Avoid the standard combo's here and you will find some very good food. read more
