So my wife and I planned a trip 03/16-03/21. They said we could pick it up AFTER 1pm. They called my wife and "Hey...you can pick it up AFTER 3PM because somebody has it. The rep stated "AFTER" there was no rush to get there. We headed out at 330pm and they call saying "We understand you have an appointment to pickup an RV?" Yes mam we should be there around 430pm. ELRV: No your appointment was for 3pm US: you said it will be ready AFTER 3pm. That is not saying that 3pm is an appointment. ELRV: Sir we never say AFTER we always set a time. US: ok whatever so than what going to happen as far as getting charged for the day? ELRV: SIR it's not our fault or problem you missed your appointment. US:(ELRV DENIED SAYING AFTER. WHEN INFACT THE LADY SAID CLEAR AS DAY THAT THEY ALWAYS HAVE PEOPLE PICKUP THEY'RE RENTAL AFFFFTER 1PM) My wife asked the lady to understand and spoke very nicely. It's too bad you can't rent an RV AND have a great experience. At least this is the case with El Monte RV. We had a tire blowout on this trip. It happens, I know. And like all blowouts, it's either caused from misalignment or from running over a nail for example. In this instance, our coach was severely out of alignment. We spoke to Robert Miller (roadside assistance) who seemed very knowledgeable on the phone. He helped us get our generator started, which didn't want to cooperate at first. He coordinated roadside assistance which made it there in 2 hrs. We were advised to take pictures so that we can help El Monte assess blame essentially. Which up until this point was all reasonable. The next day we returned the coach only to have the dealer attempt to charge us for the tire plus service. Apparently, Mr Miller elected to not cover the cost. The roadside mechanic said that we didn't run over anything and the blowout was likely caused by a faulty tire. The mechanic at the dealer said for ME to look at the tires. I could clearly see that the coach was badly misaligned - even the front tire was ready to blow. I got the sense that he could have said more but was afraid of losing his job. One of the highlights of the my morning was El Monte's response "we have to wait until the roadside mechanic comes in for his shift so we can ask him for his assessment". We look back upon our experience and thank god that we changed our plans to go to Temecula instead of Death Valley. Could you imagine what would have happened if we had the front tire blowout while in the middle of Death Valley?! We drove 120 miles spread out over two days at speeds not exceeding 55mph. We babied this coach which already had 74,000 miles on it. Please don't reward this company with your business. We wasted 5 hours with this experience. An experience that luckily ended without anyone getting hurt. I hope El Monte doesn't attempt to drive this coach back to Sante Fe Springs. It is not fit for the road. And if they cause an accident, I hope this Yelp entry serves as evidence that they knew it was a liability and did nothing about it. We had the vacation from hell ! Worst customer service I've ever experienced, rushed walk through by an knowledgeable person ( by their own admission) $2400 for 8 nights. Had no use of the TV's or stereo. We were in Havasu, 120* and on the 3rd day A/C breaks down, mind you we have an elderly lady and 2 dogs along. After being told there were no mobile mechanics in our area ( we were in Parker) I happened to be in the office of the RV Park and was given the business card of a nearby mobile mechanic. After many phone calls to El Monte RV, they finally broke down and agreed to call the guy. The following day the repairman comes out, diagnosed the problem and gave them an estimate, They refused his services and sent him away. Again, after many calls back to El Monte RV and reminding them of the temperature and our passengers they called him back and had him come out ( the following day) and make the repair. In addition to being without the front A/C for 3 days there were many amenities we were unable to enjoy due to a rushed orientation/walk thru by an incompetent person who could not answer any questions. I could go on but what's the point. Suffice it to say I would not return to this place if the RV was free. Oh ya, I wrote a letter 60 days ago to their customer service dept (as instructed to do) expressing our dissatisfaction, we have yet to hear back. read more

Do not make the same mistake I did! Their rvs are garbage!I had to pull over every 5 miles to push the pop outs back in. They claim their rvs are 2019 or newer, but when you get there they give you what ever garbage they have available. I had to drive 90 miles out of my way to get another rv at a different location. Their road service is a joke. Your basically on your own.There are other options as far as rv rentals.These people only care about getting your money.. Beware of this this company! Their good reviews may be only reflective of some of their polite staff but if you end up having any types of issues, which may be likely to happen as you can see from the numerous bad reviews, you will not have any ethical, fair treatment by management. Highly recommend you stay away from renting here. Our experience: the TV was not installed properly or may have had a defect which caused it to fall and strike a passenger on the head. This happened at the beginning of our trip so not only was it not usable during our trip but also unsafe--big disappointment! We called and notified management of our mishap and they reassured us that we would be taken care of upon return. There were also other issues during our trip such a piece of exterior trim that kept on detaching and caused us to have to pull over several times during our trip to reattach it; cooling system issues and the RV not being properly cleaned from the previous use. With COVID concerns, not having a properly clean RV only further aggravated our experience with El Monte RV. Needless to say, all of this was distressing and inconvenient. But, the worst part of our experience was the insensitivity, lack of concern and unethical behavior that the manager, Tim Rutledge, showed us upon our return! When we returned the RV and asked to speak to a manager, Tim met us with hostility. This was an insult on top of all the inconveniences and distress we went through. Tim had the audacity to try and turn it around and blame us! He started by accusing us of damage on one of the rims but we sternly pointed out that the damage was there at the time of the walk-through and the staff member had made a note of it. Tim said that it was not in the notes and continued to place blame and responsibility on us. He asked if we had a picture of the pre-existing rim damage. We told him that this is their job and that we trusted that since this was acknowledged by his staff when we picked up the RV, that we trusted them to document it properly. When he saw that we were not going to back down, he then accused us of being responsible for a missing hub cap and insisted on not giving us a credit. Once again, we asserted that there was no hub cap on that tire when we took the RV from their lot. Fortunately, we happen to have taken a picture in front of the RV and have proof that the hub cap was already missing prior to our trip. At this point, he conceded that the damages where preexisting. and proceeded to offer what was a dismal and unacceptable refund. By then, we just wanted to be done and out of there so we agreed to that negligible amount. Upon processing the credit to my card, he mumbled disrespectful comments suggesting that we "were hanging from the TV" and this is what caused it to become loose and drop. Tim needs some training in respect and business ethics. We wonder how many times he has intimidated people out of a fair deal. We will not be renting from this company again and we strongly recommend that you find another RV rental such as RV Share, Cruise America or one of many other great companies out there if you want to avoid being scammed for unfair fees and poor customer service. read more

I had called and spoke with Edward at El Monte Rv. I was told that a price that included my AAA and since I rented 4 nights I would receive 50 miles per night free. I was told my remainder balance was one price and when I got to pick it up They would not take the AAA discount. Which is a difference of about 65.00. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE. If I could give no stars, I would. The place isn't the cleanest and it smells so bad in the store. They also do not treat their customers well. When we picked up our RV, the front desk called Jose up to show us our rental. He walked in, refused to help because he wanted to take his break, then walked out. When the owner was notified, we waited around 20 more minutes because the owner had to finish his sandwich. That should have been the red flag, but we needed an RV since we were leaving for our vacation the next day. The rental was stinky, and when the owner pulled the cushions out to show us how to make the dinette into a bed, crumbs fell out. At this point, I didn't care because I was going to clean and disinfect the whole thing when I got home anyways. Upon returning the vehicle, the infamous slacker, Jose, looked at the camper and told us that it was dirty and he will charge us an extra hour. The camper was returned clean. We have a 7 month old baby and I make sure to keep everything clean around her. I Swiffered the floor every night and I clorox wiped the bathrooms after every use. I'm a germaphobe and i'm not ashamed to admit it. Their complaints were: dust and small pieces of grass in the driver side floor. My husband gets the left over toilet paper roll and proceeded to dust the floor, but Jose said "oh no bro, I'm just gonna charge you an hour." This infuriated me. When we complained at the front , the girl gave us so much attitude. She then said "well you have 15 mintues to clean it or else we will charge you." We cleaned it in less than 10 because it was so minimal. We asked to speak to the owner but she never spoke to us. She just checked the vehicle, approved it, and went on her way. Rental vehicles should be cleaned in between rentals. A simple vacuum could fix the dust and grass on the driver side floor , which is something they are supposed to do anyways. This leads me to believe that this company does not clean the rentals. One review said that they made an old lady clean up the RV. I believe it. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM . Our friends rented at a family owned place in Chino and they said "don't worry about cleaning. We steam clean all our rentals after each customer. The last thing you need to worry about is cleaning after your vacation." I wish we went to that place instead. read more

I came extremely close from canceling; the only reason that kept from canceling is my desire to own a trailer soon- I wanted my family to get a feel for rv experience. To make matters worse I was Ill informed about an insurance binder requirement upon reserving my rental. Amanda at corporate office did not adequately inform me as to my insurance requirements, because of such , I was do last minute calls. This was our first time renting an RV and I will never do it again, especially from this place. It started with the generator not working from the time we picked up the RV. The company had to bring out a tech to start it. We got it home that night and it never started again. We stopped by the company on our way out on Saturday and they basically told us too bad, we would need to call El Monte (these are the people that put us in it). On the site, it was promised that the RV would not be older than two years. Ours was a 2009. The owner signed it out to us without even dumping it from the previous customers. The air conditioner leaked in the middle of the floor and caused a big puddle (after soft flooring that was identified prior to us checking out the RV). When returning the RV, the rep flat out stated that he never would have put us in that RV....VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! I plan to call the better business bureau and report them. read more

I have rented from El Monte before, but never this location. DON'T GO THERE! You can only pick up the RV by appointment, even if it is there. I ended up paying for a whole day that I never had the RV because I couldn't make the only appointment slots they had for me. No attempt to help me out - none. The RV unit I got was old and tired and dirty. Tears in the floor vinyl, screens busted, locks not working. Wanda is very nice, but everyone else I dealt with seemed to care less. It took me over an hour just to turn the unit back in to them. No one apologizes about the wait, or any problems with the unit. They blame everything on El Monte RV. Never had these problems with the Newport Beach location. If it is your first time renting an RV, don't go here, it will turn you off to what should be a wonderful experience. RVing is a great way to get your family out comfortably into the boonies and have a blast. Don't let the renting experience ruin it for you! Try another location or company. read more

I would give ZERO STARS if I could. Terrible company! I was stuck with renting an RV from them because of availability issues. No other location had RVs for the days I needed. Also they have a horrible cancellation policy. They do not refund ANY of the deposit even if its within 24 hours. Part of the reason why I had to stick with them for one of the RVs I rented. After seeing the first I decided to cut my losses and lose the deposit on the second....horrible! Horrible!! HORRIBLE!!! They are probably only still in business because they STEAL peoples reservation money. DO NOT give them your business, if you want to make the best out of your hard earned money. read more

Horrible experience. They have terrible customer service and give you a horrible attitude on pick up. Couldn't get the insurance right despite working with my own insurance, AAA, and getting information faxed over. Once we picked up the the RV there initial inspection is a quick once over and tell you not to worry about anything. Do not believe them do your own inspection. The RV was piece of junk, Broken furniture, bed smells, generator malfunctioning, electrical not working and sensor/gauges off. Despite calling in and letting them know this, when we returned the vehicle they inspection turned very thorough and try to accuse you of every problem with attitude. Despite calling in ahead of time and notifying about malfunctions they will charge you for anything they can and taking zero blame. I have rented RV's before and this is by far the worst experience.
