Fun night! After an appointment down the street, we realized El Mundo was down the street. I'd never been - I'll be back and bring more friends. We started with a queso and chips to split. The shredded chicken quesadilla with salsa was also awesome to share. Perfect meal for two. Happy hour specials are available most days. Large menu of yummy items and drinks. The inside is fun. Small rooms on a few floors, plus a great bar area and covered patio. Upstairs the space could be reserved for a large party or small event. Loved our server. Upbeat, fast, and helpful. Was here on Monday night for dinner with friends. The place was pretty empty. Ample parking in the back. The server was very nice but a little aloof. The guacamole was very good but just a small portion for the price. Chips are also very good. My rock fish taco was not tasty at all. Rice and beans didn't taste fresh. Sangria was ok, again the fruit did not seem fresh and the glass was filled up with mostly ice. I moved away 11 years ago and came back to what is a favorite, El Mundo. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is festive. In addition to an amazing menu they always run a weekly special and this week's did not disappoint. I had the mushroom chimichanga which was delicious. El mundo is a good option for a low key and classic experience. The restaurants is large and has a lot of nooks so you don't feel crowded. That said, make a reservation as it's hard to get a table on a weekend evening. It's a good spot for kids as they have a decent kids menu and it's very informal. Happy hour on the deck on a Friday night is full of families. I don't care for their Michelada, which is more like tomato juice. Have had better elsewhere. Chips and queso is also a bit lacking, as I prefer a queso fundido from other spots. But the chips are bottomless and crispy. I enjoy their enchiladas and burritos. El Mundo absolutely delivered! The highlight of our visit was our server, Ty. She made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant--attentive, personable, and just plain cool. She had an amazing eye for detail and made the whole experience feel special. We started with the queso dip, which was fantastic, and for brunch my girl and I had the chilaquiles--really good. I couldn't help but look around at other tables and everything coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, especially the shrimp tacos (on my list for next time!). We went on a weekend and it was surprisingly easy to get in. We had a reservation but probably didn't even need it. Parking was also simple, which is a bonus. Met up at El Mundo for a Galentine's Day dinner with some friends. I love the neighborhood this restaurant is in and the colorful decor inside. They have an extensive drink menu - I didn't order anything this time since I was driving right after but many of the margaritas lookes good! Our server was very good and made sure to note food allergies for those in our party who needed accommodations for that. I ordered the carnitas platter and it was a huge portion size! I actually got three meals out of it. I wasn't expecting to assemble everything myself, and also thought it needed to come with more than two tortillas since the portion sizes were so big. As far as taste goes - it was good. I don't know that it stood out as being better than other similar Mexican restaurants but I liked my food ok. The basil verse was delicious! I didn't care for their salsas but the queso was pretty good. Will I go back? Probably not, but it was an ok meal without any complaints so I would say try it and see what you think if you're in the area. read more

No one needs for me to tell you that the food is not as good as it was, at least not consistently. Last night's chili relleno, for instance the pepper was quite small and there was barely any stuffing of the pulled pork. And we've been coming here for some years so we absolutely can compare it with their food at earlier dates. If the restaurant reads this, I hope they know that we know what's going on and that we would really like to support them forever but they need to step it up even if the prices need to go up. We just picked up a carryout this evening. It was just so good I want a rerun. We got three of our old favorites. Pork Chili Rellano, Shredded Chicken Burrito and chips and Guacomole. The menu has something for everyone, including many vegetarian and vegan options (many dishes can also be made gluten-free.) Our server was great, getting everyone their food & drinks and checking back regularly. We were in the open-air-ish room upstairs, which had heaters above the tables for anyone who needed it. Recently went to El Mundo for a friend's birthday dinner and it was excellent! We were able to make reservations for 7 people the day before Valentine's Day, we did eat at 5:30 pm but was still impressed we got in! The new location is a bit of a multilevel maze, but we were located on the 2nd floor and had a large table for our group. Arriving early also got us access to the happy hour menu with $5 margaritas and deals on chips and dips, which we took full advantage of. The chips and queso was delicious, but not enough queso (ha)! The chips were very fresh and refills kept coming! In ordered the southwest green chile enchiladas ($14.25) with chicken, rice and beans. It was a good portion and the food was very good. My husband ordered the carnitas ($16.95), which he liked but will more than likely try something different next time. They had a simple kids meal took for $5 each. The Chips & Salsa (A combination of our salsa fresca & our salsa casa) and the Chips & Black Bean and Chipotle Dip (Black beans and Jack cheese seasoned with chipotle pepper, Dos Equis beer, onions & garlic) were pretty great. Made well and the black bean dip had a bit of a spicy kick to it, I was very hopeful for the rest of the meal. However, when my entree arrived, the Mole Poblano Enchiladas (Two corn tortillas rolled with your choice of filling & Jack cheese, smothered with our mole poblano sauce and baked. Served with beans, rice, salsa fresca & sour cream. My choice of meat was the KY Pulled Pork) was very mediocre. The food was dry as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. The rice was 100% inedible - it was as dry and tasteless as gravel. I wish I had been given the listed sour cream because that might have helped the very weak and poorly executed enchiladas. This is a mole sauce in name only, because I could put together a better sauce using Hersheys syrup and a bag of flour. The only thing decent was the pork and for that you are only given a meager 1 tablespoon amount in each tortilla. A shame too because the atmosphere is really lovely and the service was good, but maybe just stick to coming here for drinks and apps, because the entrees are not worth the price they are charging. If you are someone that has mobility issues and do not handle stairs well, you might want to call ahead and see if they have a table that can accommodate you. Great meal! I think the new spot is better than the original! They have a great outdoor deck to enjoy your margarita! Even when the weather is cool they they have heaters and blankets to keep you warm. I'm making my way through the menu. They have the best margarita in town! And even better margaritas with the happy hour prices. My current favorite appetizer is the chips and queso. Every entree has been great. I'm going with the Chile Relleno as my still favorite and the Stacked Enchiladas as a close second. We love going to El Mundo! I love the takes they have on classic Mexican food with high quality ingredients! We also get an order of their chips and vegan queso, which has a little bit of a kick to it. I ordered the mole poblano enchiladas with pulled pork. It is naturally gluten free, which I deeply appreciate, and it was absolutely delicious. The smokey mole was perfect with the tangy rice and salsa fresca. Service here is always good. So, first off, my rating is based solely on the fact that I received the wrong food twice. I'm not sure how a restaurant accomplishes that exactly, but perhaps they're just exceptional. Otherwise the restaurant was fine: the ambiance is great, service seemed good at the table, margarita was tasty, and everyone else in my party seemed to enjoy their food. I ordered southwestern enchiladas with chicken. I received bison instead. I ate a bit, but thought it tasted off (dim lighting and bad eyesight) but finally realized it wasn't what I ordered/wanted so I asked my waitress about it and she identified it as bison. Everyone else was mostly through with their meal, so I asked her to pack CHICKEN enchiladas to go for me and I would have lunch the next day. I guess I should have checked the meal before I left, but I've honestly not heard of a kitchen messing up the same order twice. Also I think I assumed the waitress would have checked? I opened the bag up today and was very skeptical at the lid, which was clearly labeled "SWE B." Label was accurate: no chicken enchiladas. More bison enchiladas. Very disappointing! To add insult to injury, they also removed the beans, which are the best side! Overall I'm irritated because I paid for a meal I didn't get to enjoy, and I don't trust them to make food accurately in the future. This is a real issue when you have people with allergies and dietary restrictions. Is the kitchen actually capable of producing chicken enchiladas? We'll never know! read more

Our fist time here and we are very impressed specially when you see mussels in the menu ! These were delicious and were the highlight of the meal! We ordered a salad and my husband the burrito-this one was very big and delicious for drinks my husband ordered a "Paloma" and he loved it! He had 2. Service was very good and our server Shannon F. was very knowledgeable and very friendly! Excellent service Ambiance was relaxed and not busy (late lunch 2:30pm) we were able to eat and talk and not been rushed due to noise or for been busy.
