A five star performance from start to finish. A warm welcome at the door, quickly seated, drink order taken and menu brought to the table. Felipe's is open space, comfortable booths, and it looked like the floors were so clean you eat off them. Nina, our server, was patient, attentive, and seemed to be one step ahead of us. Chips and salsa were served, a thicker style chip and a mildly spicy salsa, served in a mini carafe. I was happy to see Felipe's has a lunch menu, Mon thru Saturday. My wife ordered the lunch portioned Los Cabo's special, shrimp, grilled onions and mushrooms in a cheese sauce served with black beans and rice. Well seasoned, very tasty. I passed on my usual fajitas and ventured into the realm of enchiladas. The full order came with 3 chicken enchiladas smothered in a mole sauce. The mole was rich and sweeter than most I've had, but not overpowering. And what other Mexican restaurant offers a side of cucumber salad? I love the way Felipe's plates their food. Elongated plates for enchiladas, square plates for other dishes. They have a beautiful presentation. There's a QR code on the table that offers a free serving of queso if you post a review on their site. The only disappointment was the queso was brought to the table cold. We topped off our lunch with an order of Flan. Spectacular. There's something special going on at Felipe's. I'm confident you'll be more than pleased. read more

I went there for the first time in my life. the last time was when they were mi tierra. Anyway, i had a gift card so i went there. the waitress was wonderful. i had $25 on the card so i ordered 2 lunch fajitas. one shrimp and one chicken to go. they gave me enough to fill me up. i wish the chips were lighter and not so dense. i would return for sure. it was pretty good. they give military discount. read more

Stopped here for lunch while out visiting thrift stores! A definite language barrier made lunch a struggle. They served us two salsas, but failed to explain the difference. One was mild tasting. The other tasted like pure tomato sauce with 0 kick. The sprite served to us had no flavor and only carbonation. They kindly replaced it, but I'm not sure they understood why we asked for a replacement. The food was served very fast. It was as expected and good. We tried the chicken fajita quesadilla and a chimichanga. Despite the couple struggles, we really enjoyed our lunch! read more

This place was pretty solid! I wanted to get some takeout and it took a little longer than I was hoping, but I still enjoyed it. I ordered the birria tacos and mixed fajitas. The birria tacos were on the higher end of the ones I've tried here in Louisville. The fajitas held pretty well for the next day when I had them for breakfast and lunch. The interior was pretty standard, decent, unassuming, typical to a Mexican restaurant. Plenty of space to have a nice dinner with the family. I'd recommend this place! read more

Servers are very attentive and friendly. Started with the chips and salsa. Salsa is served with mild and hot. Hot is not that fiery. House margaritas are perfect. I had the pollo with chorizo dinner. Served with rice, beans and 3 tortillas. The flattened chicken covered in chorizo and queso was large enough to have a second meal the next day. It was cooked to perfection. I ordered takeout. They didn't not give me the guacamole and pico de gallo for my lunch fajitas. When I called back in, the manager was unavailable. The woman I talked to sounded confused and disinterested that my order was wrong. Stopped by to check this place out and we're really impressed! Their chops and salsa were tasty (hot sauce actually had some good heat to it!), and our lunches were both hot and yummy. We did NOT leave hungry. She had the crabmeat quesadilla, I had the chicken burrito and chicken taco. Both tasted fresh, were served quickly, and had us waddling out the door! Sucked. Could not get website to take my order. So I couldn't rate any food as I didn't get to eat

Food is Ok. Use of coupons as a draw was deceptive. Discounted margaritas negates a 5 dollar coupon. Sent a letter to owner/manager with no response. No call, no email, no letter. No manager came to our table to do some PR. We go out to eat 5 times a week. Restaurants will be frequented based on response if and when we express concerns and have them addressed. This is a competitive industry; those who respond ... get repeat business ... those who do not lose. read more

Update: so, at one point I was a fan of this place. I wrote a great review for their shrimp chimichanga. But... very disappointed the past few times I've eaten here. The food has been so-so (very bland). And the customer service... non-existent. I went to lunch there this week... and the waitress was watching videos on her phone. Good deal with Xooker $50 for $25. Would not have done it at full price. Waitress was great. We both had beef chimichanga. The glitch was they were supposed to be shredded beef and we got ground beef. I didn't want to waste the food so we kept the meals. I was pretty happy otherwise. The beans were well seasoned like I like them. The rice I agree with her was a little dry. The chimichanga was pretty standard I also tried the fried cheese cake which was good but could have been better. They fried it from frozen, but it would have been better just refrigerated. The edges that cooked were delicious but the frozen center wasn't as good. The tea had good flavor and she said her margarita was good as well. read more

This place was pretty good! The food was as expected at any similar restaurant, good but nothing spectacular. The portions did seem big to me though which was nice! Came here with friends because it's conveniently located for us. We were the only people there at about 4pm, and the service took forever. It was our server's first day ever as a server, and I don't think he understood the appropriate frequency to check on customers. The menu is HUGE and likely has any Mexican dish you're looking for. Prices are average to high compared to similar restaurants. I'd eat here again! read more

The restaurant was very clean, with nice decor, and a few cool architectural elements. There was also outdoor seating, which we did not expect. The service was excellent. Our server took care of us and was very polite. Our margaritas were good, but nothing special. Some of the chips were stale, but the salsa was very good. We got a steak burrito, the presentation was beautiful, but again, nothing special. I thought the beef was a little fatty. My family's new go-to Mexican restaurant! The first time I went I looked around and everyone was drinking sangria instead of margaritas so my partner and I tried the red sangria and the mango sangria and both were absolutely delicious. This is the one place where I will always go for the sangria over a marg. They also have good, really large burritos. Terrible service!! Do not recommend at all! My friends and I went and one got nachos, 10 minutes after not even eating the whole thing, she was puking in the bathroom. My other 2 friends had fajitas, they were $30+ and very bland and cold. I got chicken nuggets, but they turned out to be chicken tenders. My rice had absolutely no flavor whatsoever, and I'm quite certain that it was the 60 second rice from Krogers. And the building...DISGUSTING. There were ants crawling all over the bathroom mirror! I get my lunch to go and i eat it at work, its literally 5 mins away. I order my food online and im there. My food is always cold or ice cold. I ordered a quesadilla and a burrito a la carte. Went here for the first time last night and was very disappointed. Service was just awful. We sat at the bar for over twenty minutes before anyone even asked for our drink order. Oh my gosh, this place is fantastic. I come here for the chicken fajitas. I'd kiss the chef if I wasn't married. The cook on the chicken and veggies is amazing, there's a sweet crunch on them, I cannot say enough good things. And the staff is so kind as well. Tried this place instead of el nopal and I would not recommend. Asked for a skinny margarita and they gave me a tequila sunrise without grenadine in it but still charged the price of a margarita. The food was cold like the rice was ice cold. I waited for the waiter to check on me so I could have the food reheated, but no one ever came. Finally I waved down the cashier after everyone else finished their food. He took my food away and it took longer to get it back then the first time I ordered. So, we stopped by this place out of convenience as we were leaving a Ballard school event. Oh my, what a treat. This was a level above what you normally get at a Mexican restaurant. We started with the stuffed jalapeño appetizer. Both eaters agreed these were delicious. I ordered the steak and chorizo fajitas. The serving was huge so I had some to bring home. I heated it up and plopped it in a tortilla the next day and it was just as good as the night before. Both meats were great quality and the veggies were as well. My daughter had a quesadilla that I'm not going to be able to describe how phenomenal it was. From the crispness of the shell to everything that was in it, it was top notch. And it was pretty darn big. And the presentation of the food shows they aren't on the same playing field as the other Mexican restaurants in town.
