I had noticed this place when I was taking my niece to her job and made a note to stop in. My husband and I were doing errands when I remembered to go. The staff was really friendly, greeted and led us to a table promptly. The server was really nice as well. It was when she handed us the menus that I noticed it was like two restaurants in one location?? The other was a fish place. I was still hopeful it would be good, though I thought it odd. The chips they served in the basket were hot, fresh, thin and crispy. Yum! The "salsa", not so much. It tasted like tomato sauce with some tomato chunks. It was missing flavor. My husband ordered tacos and I ordered cheese enchiladas. I asked for mine to be heated super hot to make sure the cheese melted. This resulted in them bringing his meal a few minutes before mine, but we were ok with that. His tacos had a decent flavor and were fully stuffed, which is rare these days, but the texture was strange. The meat was kind of mushy like. He ate them anyway. My enchiladas were so hot, the sauce was bubbling. I loved that part! The cheese enchiladas were actually pretty tasty themselves, but I wish I had passed on the "chili". I don't think it resembled chili at all and it was just not good. If I went back, I'd have to skip the sauce. We might be back. read more

The Chile Rellenos and Queso are outstanding! It's a little grungy, hole in the wall, but so worth going.

I enjoy El Palacios, as do my coworkers. The Chile rellano is my go to. I wish the queso was a bit thinner because the chips are homemade they are thin and crispy which I like but doesn't do well for scooping thick queso. I feel the prices are on point with other Mexican restaurants in the area. The decor is fairly appropriate with some vintage signs hanging. We go back regularly. read more

The sign outside says Captain Mac's seafood. Well it's not, it's Mexican. If you catch them on a good day the food is passable. However we have caught them on a very bad day and the food was like 2 day old food out of a can. We informed the owner that our food wasn't good and he just nodded his head and smiled as if he didn't hear us. Would not recommend or go to again. read more

I got the Chile relleno fiesta and it was terrible they mixed their ground beef with beans and didn't tell you and the cheese sauce was very bland everything was very bland the tacos had beans and hamburger meat mixed together and I don't like tacos with beans in them but there was no indication beforehand that there would be beans in them this made the whole meal taste very unpleasant. read more

This place is a joke. They get business because there is nothing else. Please go find somewhere else. There sign says fine Mexican food. They are an insult to Mexicans. I had enchiladas that were disgusting with canned chili on it. My friend had a number 8. It was warmed in the oven so long that the beans were crusty and dried up. The rice was crunchy. Not many choices in this city, I ordered the #2...well the name suits the dish. Beans had a crust over them like they have been sitting on the plate under a heat lamp all day. The taco was borderline edible but meat was mixed with refried beans. I should have known when the hot sauce came out, it looked like canned tomato sauce with stewed tomatoes and chiles. Place use to be a great place to eat. All the food was good. The past several years the food has really declined. Beans and rice are so dry. The taco salad is not consistant. Sometimes the beans in it are cold and sometimes they are warm. The chili relenos are good but the cheese on top is so thick. Have told them for years to thin down the cheese but talking to the wall. People are not very friendly. It's like they hate the job and owning the place. Would be really nice to update the decor. Sure hope they read these reviews and take note as what needs to be done to get El Palacio back on the map. read more

Best chili rellenos around. Fresh peppers with a great tasty crust stuff with cheese/meat sauce. Best thing to eat there. Salsa is good too

Won't waist my time or money at this place again. Went in for lunch today, late lunch. Started with a great waitress. She brought drinks, chips and sauce, and took our order. Apparently the waitress got a call of a sick child and had to leave for a bit so another girl took over and she had an attitude from the word go. When we placed our order an order we had placed many times on other visits there simply asking to swap out the sour cream for guacamole. We also had requested both corn and flower tortillas and for the onions to be very caramelized. When she brought the plate with cheese and lettuce it had sour cream on it. I explained to the waitress we had requested to sub out for the sour cream. Very hateful she says you can't do that. I tried to explain this is how we get it every time we are in there. She said no. Then a few minutes later she bring one container of flour only tortillas. When we tried to explain we ordered half and half. She caught a serious attitude with us. Then she brings the skillet of meat with almost raw onions. She never looked to see she had not brought out the plate of rice and beans. Then she goes to the cash out area and in Spanish starts bagging on myself and my son to another employee. If your gona talk bad on someone in a different language, make sure that they don't understand what you are saying anout them. We sat with our food getting cold for 10 minutes till she came over and in a hateful tone asked how the food was. We explained we didn't bring put all our food. She goes to the kitchen and brings back the smallest amount of rice and beans. I've seen bigger portions on kids meals. Finally our first waitress came back. The best thing that could have happened. So I want to thank the waitress for cold food, incorrect order, the attitude, and the insults in spanish to her Spanish coworker. Our experience today SUCKED! read more

Welp..... Food was good. Fish was great but was very small portions. Matter of fact, really small proportions for everything. Price was okay. Don't plan to leave with a to-go.
