The food, service and atmosphere were great! We went during lunch, it is a large place with choice of inside or patio seating. The food is authentic Mexican food and made from scratch - from the tortillas, to the chips, salsa, meat, beans, rice, and chocoflan. Try the hot salsa, it is good. My husband had carne ranchera and I had a barbacoa and carnitas tacos on homemade corn tortillas. The chocoflan is superb, be sure to have it. The owner provided great service, he gave us the history of the way items were made and the restaurant. If you want authentic Mexican food, go to El Papas.

Came for Friday lunch. Two others tables were occupied. It's a pretty big, wide open space. We were greeted quickly. Our server was pleasant and helpful. I ordered a Sol beer and my wife a classic margarita. It was not a great tasting marg. The food, though, was great and there was a lot of it.

Came it and was quickly greeted. I came in for lunch on a Thursday and it was pretty slow but had a great vibe with music playing. Asked for a spicier salsa and they delivered. Ordered a carne asada torta. It was good - salsa was good but not hot. Everything was good not great.

One of the best Mexican food I have had in a long time, great customer service. Would definitely recommend

I was there at around noon for lunch, I had the Barbacoa the meat was delicious, rice and beans were amazing. Costumer service was excellent. Price was reasonably did not disappoint. Great atmosphere I would definitely recommend it.

This was our first time here, seems like it has only been open a few months. The staff are all friendly and it was spotless clean inside. When we we first arrived we had a little trouble with parking, all the street parking out front was full, the parking next to the building is marked for the restaurant next door only, and there are signs that tell you park in the back for the previous restaurant that was here but when we went to park there it didn't appear to be public parking but staff parking as there was no way to go to the front. We ended up parking across the street. We received chips and salsa, the chips were freshly made, the salsa was ok, I actually also received a green salsa and I liked that one better. My carnita tacos were good, had pretty good flavor. The carne asada fries and nachos were decent large portions, could use a little more flavoring. The chicharron tacos I ended up giving to my husband I just wasn't crazy about them but he said they were ok. I think this place could be really good, just a little more seasoning. Also the drinks are in a can but they do give you a cup with ice, they also have agua Frescas but appeared to be in a machine. The prices are decent, the tacos are not the typical small taco sizes as you would normally get at a taco shop they are the regular corn tortilla size, for 10 bucks you get 2 tacos. We will go back to give it another try as we typically do when something is just opening.

I cannot say enough good things about El Papas and everyone who works there. My father passed away unexpectedly at the beginning of May and this restaurant was located across the street from the funeral home we used, so when we were making the arrangements for the service we decided to check out the restaurant as a possible reception venue since it would be very convenient for our guests. Our first time in, we were greeted and served by Adrianna who treated us like family. It really felt like we had been friends forever and she took the best care of anything we needed. Her service was some of the best I have ever received and to top it off, the food was delicious and freshly made. We had a variety of food, but the big hits were the enchiladas (not pictured) and the torta ahogada. The salsas and aguas frescas (especially the maracuyá) were also super yummy. After approving of the food, we spoke to Adrianna about the possibility of hosting our reception lunch there and she introduced us to her husband Jose who gave us more information and options. Once we had an idea of what we wanted, he gave us a quote and we told him we would get back to him since we had more errands to run. Later that evening, I got a call from the owner, Jackie, who said she wanted to offer us a discount on the price Jose has given us because she understood what it was like to lose a parent and all that goes in to planning a funeral. She also told me she wanted the community of Tolleson to know that the restaurant is proud to be a part of the community and wanted to help serve its people during their time of need. I was floored. Her genuine generosity moved me, and we agreed on using the location for our reception. The day of the funeral, we arrived and to our surprise there was a flower arrangement for my father on behalf of the restaurant, another beautiful and unexpected touch. The service was too notch as usual, the food was delicious, the beers were cold, the music was perfect and most importantly all of our guests had a great time celebrating the life of my dad. Overall, words can't express the gratitude I feel to everyone at El Papas who allowed us to end such a hard day with a beautiful memory. It will definitely be a staple in our lives from now on and I can't recommend them enough. In this day and age, it is rare to feel valued as a customer, but the El Papas crew truly goes above and beyond to make sure it's patrons feel like family.

Clean ,peaceful , quiet. Friendly staff. The service is a bit slow. There was only one other party seated besides us. It took 20 mins to get 2 orders of tacos. We had 4 orders total. The last plate was served 10 mins after the 1st plates arrived . The food was ok. I ordered tacos, and the asada was a bit dry. Menudo was good. Carne Asada frys were good. Nice size servings. Drinks were not refilled. Requested chips that did not arrive until the last plate was served. Clean bathrooms.

Los tacos de chicharron estan pa chuparrse los dedos. Son super amigables y limpios. Tienen karaoke y banda los fines de semana.

Such a cute spot! They had some good food that I really want to go back and try! I was there super early because I was meeting some people there and the waitress mentioned she had just finished a batch of champurrado. OMGosh, it was delicious! So perfect for the cold morning and I even got one to go. Staff was very helpful and just super nice. Great find!

Of all the places I visited during my short trip to AZ, Agulia's stuck out as my favorite…read more It was the only place I ran into locals and not many tourists. A strait forward no frills bar with friendly bartenders and patrons. We spent a few hours here and enjoyed the night. I met a lot of employees and everyone was beyond friendly. A lot bigger than I thought when first walking in, with two bars, two floors and a full outdoor patio. The vibes here felt like home. 10/10.

I feel like I often give too many good reviews, but it is mainly due to studying other people's…read moreratings and wanting to not risk my money or time. However Aguilas took the cake for putting the Dive in Dive bar. We came in one weekend afternoon to shoot some pool after having run into the owner down in Rocky Point some time ago at his other nice bar with the same namesake. We also saw what he did to renovate the famed Nugget into a modern Mexican Cantina in Maryvale, so what could go wrong. First off the bartender who was a younger lady seemed more interested in her phone than taking orders and seemed a little bummed to work but I dont blame her I dont want to work. I can say the drinks were reasonable and they did have seltzer options for the wifey. The ambience was pretty white trash even for the westside and that's coning from white trash growing up on the westside. They do have two pool tables that were well taken care of but ac was spotty depending on where you stand. They also had smoking which was new to me outside of legion hauls and it got unbearable when two people lit up at once. However, the hypocrite that I am thought it was cool that I could vape like a teenage white girl without hiding it from the gestapo so kudos to them for pushing the boundaries. Nonetheless cigarette smoke is nasty and still dont understand why people think others want to huff their blow back. Maybe im allergic or something. Now from the rumor meal I gleaned that the owner has a dog that runs freely and I heard others brought their dogs. They do have a back patio where I saw a guy let the dog out to do his business, around that same time my wife found a dog turd in the corner of the bar which grossed her out. I gave a few thoughts about picking it up, but a man has to have a line in the sand on cleaning up another man or dogs crap. We shot quite a few games of pool mainly cause we had the bartender turn on the juke box in-between her youtube videos and put in a few songs only to find out there was a queue jammed up that was 15 tracks long. I have seen some reviews that the bathrooms weren't clean but in this case it wasnt true other than the aforementioned doggy poo corner. They do have darts and I must say great billiards tables with a lot of travel. I also had a former coworker and huge fan of Aguilas tell me they have a cool basement at nights for added festivities which sounded really cool and gave me valley bar or downtown Cornish vibes if they can pull that off. Honestly aside from the cigarette smoke and my wife getting skeeved out by doggie doody I could have over looked the sub par service. Maybe ill go back for some basement raves on the weekend and change my perception on the place cause life is to short to just have one bad experience. Edit: I forgot to mention the Drive thru liquor store in front of the bar. We went inside and the dude working the counter was awesome and they had a great beer and liquor select, see its just hard to right a bad review without feeling like a Karen but that liquor store and personnel is 5 stars
