The food, service and atmosphere were great! We went during lunch, it is a large place with choice of inside or patio seating. The food is authentic Mexican food and made from scratch - from the tortillas, to the chips, salsa, meat, beans, rice, and chocoflan. Try the hot salsa, it is good. My husband had carne ranchera and I had a barbacoa and carnitas tacos on homemade corn tortillas. The chocoflan is superb, be sure to have it. The owner provided great service, he gave us the history of the way items were made and the restaurant. If you want authentic Mexican food, go to El Papas.

Came for Friday lunch. Two others tables were occupied. It's a pretty big, wide open space. We were greeted quickly. Our server was pleasant and helpful. I ordered a Sol beer and my wife a classic margarita. It was not a great tasting marg. The food, though, was great and there was a lot of it.

Came it and was quickly greeted. I came in for lunch on a Thursday and it was pretty slow but had a great vibe with music playing. Asked for a spicier salsa and they delivered. Ordered a carne asada torta. It was good - salsa was good but not hot. Everything was good not great.

One of the best Mexican food I have had in a long time, great customer service. Would definitely recommend

I was there at around noon for lunch, I had the Barbacoa the meat was delicious, rice and beans were amazing. Costumer service was excellent. Price was reasonably did not disappoint. Great atmosphere I would definitely recommend it.

This was our first time here, seems like it has only been open a few months. The staff are all friendly and it was spotless clean inside. When we we first arrived we had a little trouble with parking, all the street parking out front was full, the parking next to the building is marked for the restaurant next door only, and there are signs that tell you park in the back for the previous restaurant that was here but when we went to park there it didn't appear to be public parking but staff parking as there was no way to go to the front. We ended up parking across the street. We received chips and salsa, the chips were freshly made, the salsa was ok, I actually also received a green salsa and I liked that one better. My carnita tacos were good, had pretty good flavor. The carne asada fries and nachos were decent large portions, could use a little more flavoring. The chicharron tacos I ended up giving to my husband I just wasn't crazy about them but he said they were ok. I think this place could be really good, just a little more seasoning. Also the drinks are in a can but they do give you a cup with ice, they also have agua Frescas but appeared to be in a machine. The prices are decent, the tacos are not the typical small taco sizes as you would normally get at a taco shop they are the regular corn tortilla size, for 10 bucks you get 2 tacos. We will go back to give it another try as we typically do when something is just opening.

Clean ,peaceful , quiet. Friendly staff. The service is a bit slow. There was only one other party seated besides us. It took 20 mins to get 2 orders of tacos. We had 4 orders total. The last plate was served 10 mins after the 1st plates arrived . The food was ok. I ordered tacos, and the asada was a bit dry. Menudo was good. Carne Asada frys were good. Nice size servings. Drinks were not refilled. Requested chips that did not arrive until the last plate was served. Clean bathrooms.

I cannot say enough good things about El Papas and everyone who works there. My father passed away unexpectedly at the beginning of May and this restaurant was located across the street from the funeral home we used, so when we were making the arrangements for the service we decided to check out the restaurant as a possible reception venue since it would be very convenient for our guests. Our first time in, we were greeted and served by Adrianna who treated us like family. It really felt like we had been friends forever and she took the best care of anything we needed. Her service was some of the best I have ever received and to top it off, the food was delicious and freshly made. We had a variety of food, but the big hits were the enchiladas (not pictured) and the torta ahogada. The salsas and aguas frescas (especially the maracuyá) were also super yummy. After approving of the food, we spoke to Adrianna about the possibility of hosting our reception lunch there and she introduced us to her husband Jose who gave us more information and options. Once we had an idea of what we wanted, he gave us a quote and we told him we would get back to him since we had more errands to run. Later that evening, I got a call from the owner, Jackie, who said she wanted to offer us a discount on the price Jose has given us because she understood what it was like to lose a parent and all that goes in to planning a funeral. She also told me she wanted the community of Tolleson to know that the restaurant is proud to be a part of the community and wanted to help serve its people during their time of need. I was floored. Her genuine generosity moved me, and we agreed on using the location for our reception. The day of the funeral, we arrived and to our surprise there was a flower arrangement for my father on behalf of the restaurant, another beautiful and unexpected touch. The service was too notch as usual, the food was delicious, the beers were cold, the music was perfect and most importantly all of our guests had a great time celebrating the life of my dad. Overall, words can't express the gratitude I feel to everyone at El Papas who allowed us to end such a hard day with a beautiful memory. It will definitely be a staple in our lives from now on and I can't recommend them enough. In this day and age, it is rare to feel valued as a customer, but the El Papas crew truly goes above and beyond to make sure it's patrons feel like family.

Los tacos de chicharron estan pa chuparrse los dedos. Son super amigables y limpios. Tienen karaoke y banda los fines de semana.

Was not impressed with this place. Overpriced. The horchata and Jamaica were waay too watered down. I didn't even bother to order the food.

We ordered chips and Gaucamole and were given something else instead. When my husband asked about it the server said we were given the wrong thing but we said it was fine and we would just keep it. We ordered food, my husband a breakfast burrito and me the chilaquiles. I had asked the server which sauce he would recommend as they offered three, and he had said the red was spicy so I chose it as I love spicy foods. It took 35 minutes for our food to come out. Once it came, my chilaquiles had green sauce on them, I stated that I had ordered red sauce and the server picked up the plate to take it back and got a little attitude with me and said I'm pretty sure you said green but ok. I then told him I'd keep it if it was an issue but he continued to walk away with the plate. He came back shortly after with red sauce and I thanked him. However, I was disappointed with my meal because I had also ordered my eggs over medium (cooked whites/runny yokes) and they were basically hard boiled with cooked yokes. The red sauce also was not even spicy but lacked any flavor at all honestly. So I was pretty disappointed. As soon as we left after eating and paying my stomach felt off, I got sick when I got home and stayed sick all night. I was fine before coming here and hadn't eaten anything else that day so I know it was from eating here. Needless to say we won't be going back here. If you want good brunch and especially good chilaquiles go to Park Cafe not too far from this place they have the best I've had so far in the area.

I was shy to ask for a 3rd refill but they were super friendly and they did it. What can I say about the tacos they were great asada had flavor and really good I had to get a second order cause that's how good they were. Had a quesadilla con carne asada, and that was delicious. I normally never get a quesadilla any other place cause I'm not a fan of quesadillas or how they make it but here I LOVE it. I had to get a second one as well cause it tasted just like how they make it in Mexicali. The tripas super crunchy and delicious as well my husband couldn't resist to get a second order as well. We have never been to a taco place that they make it crispy and that it actually has flavored. They even have a little cart that has guacamole, salsas (which are really good the darker one is spicy but delicious) onions, cabbage, cilantro, limes, radish for your tacos is self serving. So you put what you want in your tacos. Staff super friendly and ready to help you, the inside seating super clean and they even had seating outside just like back home. Music wasn't to loud just right but I did feel like I was in Mexicali for a moment. I don't get paid or anything I'm just a real person who will give you the honest truth about my experience. We will definitely go back but next time I will bring my mom and my Tia who are born and raised in Mexicali to get their honest opinion. I definitely recommend 100/100 so worth your money and time.
