I was finally able to make it here the other day and have to say it was a really good experience. It was nice and quiet and had a nice view of the lake. We ended up ordering some salads and service was really quick and the server was really nice and efficient. We tried the Cobb Salad which was so good and they were able to substitute the ranch for Blue Cheese . And we also got the multi Grain salad with chicken which was also really good. I did see some people get the burgers and fries and definitely will be coming back to try those as well. read more

Beautiful location. View of the lake. My sister and I went for her birthday lunch. I had the best iced tea I have ever had. And a grain salad which was delicious and healthy. I'm updating my review because this is the 7th time we've been here now and the service actually continues to get worse every time we come here. Everyone keeps making the excuse that they're not used to the patio volume but it's been the same volume everytime we've come for the last 5 times sitting outside. The attitude of the servers need to change even when it's busy. I've been a server and even if you're waiting for brewed coffee or iced tea...wear a smile and just update the customer. I thought maybe she was having a bad day but it's been like 3 months of no smile and snarky attitude. Honestly each time we come here we second guess our choice and wish we would have gone somewhere else. Today they ran out of eggs for brunch. We were very patient but everything else was served cold. We arrived for brunch with a party of three and wanted to sit outside in the 70 degree, beautiful sun. The hostesses were not attentive and were trying to convince us to sit inside because the seat cushions were damp from the previous night's rain. There were others outside and after feeling the seats, we were totally fine risking a moist butt for an outdoor experience. It took at least ten minutes for our server to take our drink orders, and we had already made our choice in food by that time. When delivering our water, the server said that she was the only one waiting tables in the whole restaurant. This was the Saturday before Easter, when so many people are running around trying to get their last minute shopping done. I'd expect things to be busy. We ordered Bloody Mary's, an omelette and a croissant breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was dry and messy at the same time. The breakfast potatoes were okay. The omelette was reportedly good. Bloody Mary's were $15 and came with a shrimp, slice of thin bacon, olives and cheese slices. It was mediocre and had enough salt on the rim to rival any margarita. We waited...and waited...and...you get the point. In need of napkins and our bill, we sat for a long time. We appreciated the server's honesty in disclosing being short staffed, but the attitude of each employee we interacted with was subpar. Wow! Super impressed with our dinner this evening! We ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts - 5 stars! It was soooo good! I called the order in for take out and it was ready in 25 minutes. The patio was beautiful looking out towards the lake. It could be a beautiful AND delicious dinner if you choose to eat there. The food and service were good overall. Our server wasn't particularly friendly or talkative, but she was attentive enough and got the job done. We were seated outside, which was beautiful and serene--definitely a highlight of the experience. We ordered the Caprese sandwich, quite salty for our taste, and a chicken pita. I'm so glad we have Lakeside Grill in our community! The owner, Deb, is a wonderful person who clearly cares about serving up delicious food and creating a welcoming atmosphere. We came here for the prime rib special. First, the lady taking our order didn't even mention the special I had to ask if there are any specials for today. Then she told us about it. We ordered it medium rare and she went away. Food came to the table and the meat was medium well and the other was medium. Took it back and then the lady came back and said that's the temperature can't get it at medium rare. Huh...why wasn't that mentioned when we ordered we ordered it. No wonder she didn't try to mention it in the beginning. Terrible service and not informative unless you ask. We reorder something else, we had the spaghetti bolognese and asked about any garlic bread and was told there was bread and the apple bourbon pork chop. Food was just okay, nothing special. The bread that came with the spaghetti was hard not even toasted, seem like it was day old bread or something not good shouldn't be served. There is no passion for the food and you can taste it. She recommended the Brussel Sprouts which were tasty....but I got a little complaint in that there was so much bacon and balsamic that they can't be considered a healthy vegetable appetizer. They're a high cal appetizer...like a slightly better version of nachos. That's not the restaurant's fault, because I heard the description and ordered it anyway. This place is intimate, cozy and great for a date night or dinner with a couple of friends. It sits inside a community center, across from the community gym but once seated inside, you couldn't even tell. There's a fireplace along the main wall that gives it like a family feel home. The place is low lit and was a little difficult to read the menu but nothing your phone light can't help you with. My husband and I came here with a couple of friends and our son, one Friday evening, after getting married. The food was ok. I got the burger, it was on the more oily and fattier side of patties. The fries were delicious, they were double fried and crispy. I also tried the Brussels sprouts and they were crispy as well, would recommend those for sure, along with the wings and what appears to be a house made ranch. I have been here many many times before and it has always excellent at a 5. It was worth the drive to Estrella. However this visit the expensive medium rare rib eye came out over cooked at medium well. The broccoli and Cauliflower was served room temperature. The side salad ordered was forgotten and after gentle reminder it was served mid way thru the main course. I asked the one remaining long time server if there was a new chef, but she said no. Server insisted to replace the meal but we opted to eat what was served. We did not want to waste food. Server later offered a free dessert but we passed. The water was good. Of course this is not the servers fault. but I guess this is why it was empty on a Saturday evening except for a three tables with high schoolers pre homecoming dance meal that arrived after us. When we arrived, we saw the "Residents Only" sign. It was a deterrent for my boyfriend, but to me, the sign may as well have said, "Come on in". Indoor and outdoor seating was available and there were a few diners enjoying their Sunday brunch. The hours are limited, I wish they were longer. The following is why: The grill itself has an ambiance you wouldn't want to miss. You have views of the sparkling lake with palm trees and kayakers. You can hear the water running. You can see joggers running along the path and ducks. I don't know what it's like in the summer, as there is a water park and a swimming pool right next to the outdoor dining. I ordered a burger and a prickly pear mimosa, with a side of fruit. The bun was toasty and buttery- how I like it. The mimosa was the right amount of sweet, and was plenty though it appeared to be in a small glass. The fruit was plump and fresh. The waitress started by saying " we have a new bartender and are short staffed in the kitchen". 20 minutes after ordering our drinks and meal,we were finally served our beverages. A couple minutes later the server said " I was just notified we are out of the grain bowl", "what else can I get you?" Our meals came approx 20 minutes later. I had French dip and my friend ordered the goat cheese burger without a bun. She has allergies so had to forgo much of the meal. Her " patty came dry and the fruit bowl was sub par. we used to go on Thursdays for the Prime Rib special which was very good. We went a few months ago just before they closed for a renovation and the Prime Rib was well done despite our specifying Rare. they just reopened so we went last night. ordered the Blue Cheese stuffed olive Martini. The olives were stuffed with some hard round substance (not blue cheese) which turned to powder when you bit into it. After the drinks we ordered the Prime Ribs rare. The waitress said the chef overcooked the meat and the best we could get would be well done. I left a similar review over 2 years ago and things got better but now they are going downhill again. read more

I took my wife here for our Anniversary. It was a drive but looked really good on Yelp. Upon arriving, it was not quite what I expected because it was inside of a private club. I kind of felt I out of place. Still, it is a nice restaurant. When I had reserved on the phone, I told the young l lady that it was our wedding anniversary and asked for a nice table. When we arrived, we were seated at a small table in the rear corner of the restaurant even though there were tables near the window that were open. I wanted better for my wife, so I asked server and was told that they couldn't reserve certain tables. Still, she did reseat us near the window I did appreciate that. It did take a while before our drink orders were taken but once ordered came out quickly as did our food. I ordered a Filet Mignon with Bearnaise and my wife ordered a Shrimp Skewer. Both were pleasing. The server did ask us about dessert but we opted out. Unfortunately, I would have enjoyed another drink, but was never asked. The service was kind of lax and the menu limited but still it is a nice restaurant for an occasional nice evening out. read more

We both had the trio, which came with fruit, a side salad, and a scoop of the chicken salad with cranberries. All of it was ok. The lettuce was kind of old and browning on one of ours and a little in mine as well. The bruschetta was ok, but having just had it at Queen Creek Olive Mill over the weekend that was tough since Queen Creek's was so much better. First off the turkey club is now a turkey club sandwich and the turkey that was used was of the Oscar Meyer quality. Nothing else rely mattered once you start using cheap meats. The Cole slaw was a disaster too with large unedible pieces of cabbage lurking in this side dish. The other entree was a decent hamburger, but we did not care for the bun. As residents of Estrella, we have eaten here a few times, and we have generally been satisfied with the food quality. It's not stellar, but usually above par for similar small restaurants. The prices are a tad high, considering the portion sizes, which are on the skimpy side. Example: $16.95 for 3 pieces of bruschetta. $25+ for most dinner entrees. The ambiance is okay, quiet but cramped. The patio is nice, with the view of the lake. They do have umbrellas, not sure about water misters. Service has been satisfactory, we were impressed with that on our very first visit. All that said, we are doubting whether we will be returning. Last week we came in at 5:45 on a Friday, the first question to us was "Do you have a reservation?" No, we didn't. We peered in and saw at least two empty tables, which I can only surmise they were "holding" for said reservations. They offered us the high-top table in the entryway where they fold their napkins, basically it's open to the lobby. Um, no. I don't really want to watch the guy on the stair-step exercise machine while I eat my $80-100 meal. We asked how long the wait would be, they said "about 20 minutes". So we sat down in the lobby and waited. After 35 minutes of waiting (after watching people leave and no one being seated for "reservations"), we left. Not worth it, considering the high prices. We took our business down the hill and enjoyed a nice dinner elsewhere. read more

A solid little lunch or dinner spot. I'm new in these parts and this was a great find. Their ingredients are fresh and their prices are good, while their service is solid, and the views are beautiful. This would be a great outdoor dining spot for brunch or an evening dinner as the famous Arizona sunsets light up the sky. I'd recommend the salsa and the burgers. The sandwiches are good too. Nothing here is going to change your life or knock you out, but the food is really good and the location on the lake is just right. It's like a little outdoor hotel cafe or something you'd find on a boardwalk somewhere. Definitely give this a try. read more
