The vaca frita, chicken breast with rice , along with the ropa vieja, get ready to consume a gallon of water on your way back home. Ambiance is about the only positive comment. The custard is nearly as expensive as the main entree, the lemonade is simply a small glass of water containing a minute lemon or two, the corn soup is watery, but buckle up for an 18% tip imposed for this journey. Busied for dinner and although I really liked the friendly and pretty fast service and ambiance, I was a little disappointed by the food. I had the chicken breast with churrasco and it was tasty as well as the black beans, however my white rice was greasy and tostones were not fresh. A True Cuban Gem in Kendall! El Patio de Robertico is, hands down, one of the best spots for Cuban food in town! From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was vibrant and inviting -- a perfect blend of tradition and fun. The cocktails were fabulous, and after 11:00 PM, the place transformed into a full-blown party with live music and incredible artists. The energy is contagious! We ordered the King Salmon, Enchilado de Camarones, Crema de Malanga, and Churrasco -- every dish was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The desserts were the cherry on top: the Crema Catalana and Torrejas de Guayaba were heavenly. And of course, the Cafecito at the end was the perfect Cuban grand finale. Special shout-out to Karla, who took amazing care of us. She was kind, knowledgeable, and gave excellent recommendations. Food was decent and service was nice as well. My issue with this place is that it falls into the scam of ripping off its customers with double tipping. If you aren't paying attention, 18 percent is already added to the bill. When you go to pay, it asks you to tip again without it staying that it's additional and starts off at 20 percent. I called it out to the waitress and her excuse is that the 18 percent applied to the bill is for the entire house and that whatever I put after paying goes directly to her. As if I'm supposed to feel bad and tip 36 percent plus due to her excuse. Absolutely not. No restaurant should try to rip people off in such a manner when it comes to tipping. Absolutely disgusting. Pay attention to your bill so you don't over tip. read more

Robertico is a comedian and performs to the delight of the reservations-only crowd. We loved our main courses but the desserts were just okay. This was our first time visiting this establishment and I have to say it was a flop. The restaurant it self is huge however the overwhelming smell of fragrance when you walk in is terrible. We were a group of 10 the server seemed to have an attitude, every time we spoke she would over talk us, she didn't advise us of the 18% automatic service fee so when we split the bill amongst three groups everyone added an additional tip not knowing the 18% automatic service charge. The food was decent except for my dish the vaca frita was so dry and fried you couldn't chew it! My old fashioned came in a cracked glass and when I told the server she looked at me like I was crazy. Overall not a great experience and we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. read more

I've been eyeing this place since I live around the corner. I was skeptical but the food is excellent and service is good. Pricey for Cuban Food and the steak was almost rare. I don't think it's a place to come to eat unless you are actually seeing a show. Again Cuban food is available everywhere here in Miami cheaper and better. The ambience is chill. What a pleasant surprise! Not for one minute did I think that I would come in and love this place? I must say I was extremely skeptical about going here, as through the years I've seen it change names and owners various times. well let me tell you this place is the happening Cuban spot in Kendall. I was told that there are comedians on certain nights, but we went on a Sunday evening and there was a live band not my kind of music, but the place was definitely hopping and popping. There is a big full bar when you walk in and then to the right and behind the bar are the tables with a stage set up at the right end on the restaurant. Don't think of it as a dance hall; it's not; it's a restaurant with entertainment. It's a typical Cuban menu with some flair. Presentation is very nice. We were a party of 11 and we ordered Mariquita's, croquettes de bacalao, frito mixto and tostones rellenos for appetizers - not a drop of food left. Dinner orders that I can recommend: tamale en cazuela, camarones enchilados, ceviche (appetizer eaten as meal). Dessert - flan and chocolate lava cake - hard to mess up. We were 3. The place looks very nice. I was shocked at the price and the small portions. We ordered frituras de malanga, I would say they were ok. When the 2 Tamal en Casuela came and I saw how small the portion was, for the price they were asking, it was too much. I also ordered. The mazas de puerco, only two pieces, again over priced. The fish sticks were not bad, however not worth $17. Our bill was over $120 including the 18 percent service charge, of which the waiter said that his tip was not included. Of course, I did not leave any tip, considering they charge 18 percent already. I had already eaten a big breakfast, the reason only 2 dinners were ordered. read more

Service and food was good but they charge 18% without letting you know and when paying the bill and you let them know about the 18% tip they tell you that that's the charge for the service and not the tip wich make no sense at all , so be careful with this.
