The only reason I would give El Patio a one star is because the chips and salsa were decent. The food is bland, not much flavor, and no spice or flavor whatsoever. The so called red sauce is brown. The cheese enchiladas were filled with raw onions. The chile relano is the worst I think I've ever tasted. The only saving grace is they just opened Goyitas at the other end of the plaza. Pretty good for a local restaurant, they seem to have a decent menu that caters to both no flavor snowbirds and normal people who want good Mexican cuisine. I recommend the tamales or tacos for a good meal, tho their salsa is lacking, tastes like la Victoria mild or for hot, pace. Sad. Salsa isn't ketchup, for anyone outside of Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan, fyi... Y'all need spice in life, real Mexican rice doesn't have peas, btw... The food was very marginal. Plus it seems like they are trying to save on ingredients. I ordered a Denver Omelette, " No cheese". They forget to add the onions and green peppers. Plus it was very small and the wheat toast tasted like sawdust. The server was very polite, that's the only reason why I gave it two stars. Eating out these days is very expensive and the least you should expect is decent food. We have curtailed eating out and mostly stay home. Well, we finally decided to try this restaurant people in our town had been talking about. It's cute. As we walked in we were greeted immediately and sat at a table near the entrance, unfortunately. I say this because of the flys everywhere. We got chips and we're offered hot or mild salsa, neither were flavorful, guess, we're picky. I ordered Chile relleno and a tamale. My husband had the fajita. His smelt delicious and he enjoyed it. The Chile relleno was good, but the tamale, which was covered in what seemed like gravy, was very dry. The camarones a la diabla are delicious!! They are spicy but also have a sweet taste to them, I've never had anything like them anywhere else. Their tortillas are so soft and fresh. Their chips and salsa are also good and so is their queso fundido. read more

I think we had come here a few years back for dinner, it seemed familiar. This visit was for breakfast and our goal to try something different. It was not busy, so service was good. We ordered Chilaquiles and Huevos Rancheros. The food was okay, not bad but not amazing. The decor was a bit weird in that every table had this bulletin board with a ton of business card/advertising on it. Unfortunately this place just doesn't compare to other options in the area. This was the 3rd Mexican spot I tried over Thanksgiving break. We were seated promptly and the staff is very nice, but super slow. Even the food took too long to come out. We couldn't tell a difference between the mild salsa and the hot salsa. Both were very bland and no flavor. I had the tostada with beef(no option of shredded or ground-comes shredded) and pork tamale. Everything was just very bland. And when I'm in authentic Mexican restaurant I expect the olive to be in the tamale. They offer a buffet, which is more like appetizers from their menu. I also witnessed a guest from the booth next to us get food from the buffet and feed it to an employee who was working! Bathrooms were clean. Our booth had major rips in the seats that were quite the eye sore. There are too many delicious Mexican food spots in the area for me to come back here. read more

Had the most disappointing experience today at El Patio. I waited up front with my debit card in hand, and not one person acknowledged me. Even a quick "Hi, we'll be right with you" would have made a difference. I stood there patiently in an almost empty restaurant, yet no one to help me. My food sat on the counter getting cold. Our family invited us to join them at El Patio for a weekend lunch. They live down the street and visit El Patio on a regular basis. We sat down - chips and salsa were delivered right away. You are given the choice of mild or hot salsa or you can have a mix of the 2. We ordered the mix - it was excellent ! They have a large menu and after studying it, we ordered red chili, flat enchiladas, red chili chimis, and steak enchiladas. It took a while for the food to arrive, but it was all hot and very tasty. Didn't try the margaritas on this trip - have to be next time ! Service was a little slow, but it was very busy that day. Prices are very good and food is very good ! We've been living in the area for over four years and have not eaten here until today. I ordered a cheese enchilada with rice and beans and my husband got the bandera -- three types of enchiladas, beef, chicken, and spinach. I enjoyed my meal and sampled my husband's too. The spinach was a bit sweet which was unexpected, but all of our food was very good! It's hard to find restaurants that serve spumoni so when I saw it on the menu I knew I wanted it. We complained about the saltiness in the fajitas with chorizo no one not even the mngr would give a refund she said the only amount would be 5.00 off whole bill! The morale of the story is they did not care if we sent the whole plate back you were gonna pay the amount! I had to ask for a refund which they would not give. Finally got a chance to try this place that just reopened. I ordered the taco salad with shredded beef. It was rather bland. My husband ordered the pork burrito enchilada style. He said it was delicious. I also ordered the flan for desert for him. He said it was some of the best Resturant flan he's had. Thick and flavorful. We will go again. I'll try something different.
