Very good Mexican food. One of our favorite spots here in the green valley area. Clean, fast and yummy food. Would highly recommend.

Food was great. Service on 12/30/22 was not up to par. We were a party of five and received our food at different times, we had to ask for refills on our drinks and the male server didn't pay attention to us. I even had to ask another server to take payment. Please retrain the server to pay attention to your customers and give better service. read more

Due to our favorite mexican restaurant being closed, we decided to go to El Patio. Our waiter was very pleasant and was especially good on checking to see if we needed anything. His service was great and he was most attentive. The food was good. The salsa was horrible. It tasted like water with ketchup added to it. It was so bland and disgusting I couldn't eat it (or should I say drink it - because it was so super thin). I think the salsa in a Mexican restaurant is very important and it reflects what you are ordering. If you go to this restaurant try to sneak in your own salsa. Salsa was disgusting. Yum! You can't really complain about a yummy breakfast burrito that is $3.50, add .50 if you want rice and beans and a $1 for enchilada style. Enchilada style consists of sauce and cheese. They have really good hot sauce too!!! Keep in mind this is in Green Valley which is a retirement community. Good luck finding someone under 55 in this place. The service was great and quick. Nice big glasses of water served with lemon. Super clean bathrooms too. I plan on going back for sure! The four of us had a filling breakfast for under $25! Crazy right? Another thing worth mentioning in the decor. They have these cute old windows on the wall and friendly staff. They feature a breakfast buffet some days a week too. read more

We got the queso fundido appetizer. I got the cheese enchilada and piña colada. My husband got the three different kinds of enchiladas. The appetizer was good, exactly what it was supposed to be. My enchilada was alright...I've had much better at other Mexican places. There was just something missing from this one. My piña colada was pretty much 80% ice...dissapointed because I love piña coladas! My husband loved all of his enchiladas, but said the spinach enchilada was "weird"..I liked it, very interesting/different taste. The service was okay, we were hardly checked on but I think the girl was new. read more

Great Mexican food. Especially love their chicken soup!! Kept me alive while sick for a month. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

We each enjoyed the fajitas. Chicken for me, steak for my companion. Fresh flour tortillas with the usual rice, beans, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole on a separate plate. Complimentary chips with hot or mild salsas. We received excellent and very attentive service. read more

The place is comfortable and the service was prompt. The food was the usual Green Valley senior bland variety. The salsa "hot sauce" would be the extra mild in most Mexican places. The food was ok and tasted fresh-just super mild and frankly dull. Portions were large and prices somewhat high for Green Valley. Expectations for this area is low so i guess its "ok" but nothing special or memorable. read more

A wonderful hole in the wall Mexican/American restaurant. Once you walk in, the hole in wall disappears and leaves you with only wonderful service, appropriately spicy food, delicious tamales, delectable fajitas, tasty queso fundido, and full tummies. We will be coming back!!! Yum! We had kiddos and the service was so fast we exited just as they became wiggly. I'd write more but I'm going to bed because I'm so full. read more

The food and service is great here, clearly the best of the other three Mexican restaurants I've tried here in Green Valley. My rating is 41/2 stars actually...Their only shortcoming is the drab interior appearance thus not five stars. Sure could use some dressing up inside. Looks like a Denny's. If you order the chicken fajitas be aware it will be twice the food one person can ever eat. read more

Nice restaurant, it's decorated well with good smells from the kitchen. The employees are knowledgeable and attentive. My problems were two fold. Firstly, they advertise vegetarian fajitas. Sounds good right? Well, the refried beans are made with lard. We're not talking vegetable lard. Secondly, everything was bland. I was searching for some kind of spice. I even ordered a side of jalapeños and they tasted like green peppers. I don't fault the restaurant for non spicy peppers, it just seemed ironic. This place needs to be closed down for a week for re-training the servers. She kept on forgetting our order and never came back to refill our drinks. I order guacamole as a appetizer and they never refilled our chips so I had a full plate of it after dinner and they still charged me. There was so many flies it felt like we was sitting outside. Last meal before leaving for the winter back home. Good quality Mexican food, and served quickly, but not the best that I had in the area during our 10 day stay. I got the 2 item lunch combo, with a pork tamale and chili verde pork burrito. Both were pretty good, and the tortillas, as with most good Mexican places in the area, seemed to be freshly made. You get a choice of mild and/or "hot" salsa with your chips. Just go with the hot, as it actually has some spice to it, but in no way would I describe it as "hot". My mom, who can barely tolerate any chili spiciness, was enjoying it easily. read more

We have dined here regularly and have always been happy with the food. The service is quick and very friendly! The prices are fair. I recommend the chimichanga. It is a lot of food, so go hungry or plan on taking some home. My children love the shredded beef burrito. read more

They give you big portions here and even had a brunch buffet pre-covid. Good place to grab a drink as well as prices are reasonable and they give you chips and salsa. The Mexican food was decent but some dishes were a bit bland. Their flan was very good and the highlight of the meal. read more

It was a nice day so we wanted to sit on the patio. It was empty but the inside was fairly busy. We sat for a few minutes and we we were just about to leave when someone came out and saw us. He went back in and a minute later a waiter came out with chips and salsa. Some of the chips were stale and the difference between the hot salsa and the mild was almost indistinguishable. We asked for new chips and some hotter salsa. They brought out the stuff they add to make the salsa hotter, which was very hot, and the salsa they make specifically for some golfers. The golfers salsa was very good. Not super hot but just right. They would not share the ingredients but it was looked like a tomatillo based salsa. The entrees were reasonably good. The service is probably better inside, at least when the patio is not busy. read more

Service was a little slow but they were busy. I got the combination plate with a chili relleno and Carne Asada taco. I was really surprised how much flavor the Carne Asada had. Will definitely be back for that. Their rice has just the right amount of flavor. read more

This is Minnesota Mex - uber bland - meaning no cliantro or raw onion in salsa. Food is super bland as well. I tried it once and was really bummed. I did not go back for a second taste. This is typical of Mex places in Green Valley - uber bland. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews. I live in this little berg and I've been here more times than I can count. Not ONCE have I ever gotten anything but good service and good food. Their Carne Asada is spicy without being overwhelming. They did recently increase their prices - but so did my Spa - so whatever. It costs money to run a business! The food has always been hot and hearty, not too much seasoning, and they always bring fresh chips and salsa almost immediately after you've been seated. Their customer base is friendly and I always enjoy listening to and participating in some of the conversations from nearby veterans. Highly recommended. read more

Wouldn't recommend this place. We went for brunch and waited nearly an hour for our food. Twice during this time the waitress came by and said the food would be out in a minute...that was false both times. We weren't given chips and salsa until we had been sitting for 45 minutes even though service had been provided to the tables around us. All of the people seated after us were served their food significantly before we received ours. One of our plates of food was atrocious. The food was burnt to the point of being totally black and inedible. When shown to the manager he just didn't care and said "yeah, that's burnt. Badly." and shrugged his shoulders. All he did was "discount" our bill slightly. Any other restaurant would have not charged for the inedible dish served. Burnt black through and through. The food was not good, the service was not good, the attitude was not good. Overall review...not good. Wouldn't normally post such negative feedback but we gave the restaurant manager an opportunity to address the issues and he didn't care at all so this is the avenue to share our experience now. read more

My fave restaurant for Tex-Mex. We had one experience of a rude waiter, but she was the Mgr. and may have been having a bad day. But, the next time we came in, she was kind. And, the place is usually busy, which is a good sign. We love the flavor and when craving Tex-Mex, this is our go to choice! read more

We decided to take a chance on El Patio, mostly because it was the Sunday after July 4th and many other restaurants were closed. I wouldn't call it bad but.. I wouldn't call it great either. If I remember the previous restaurant correctly (Florentinos?), not much has changed. Not to mention I'm always skeptical of a restaurant that serves two major cuisines side by side (Mexican and Italian in this case). Though the staff were friendly and quick, the food was just very middle of the road, uninspiring, and that's the most important part of the experience to me. If their target audience is the older, retired Midwesterner crowd then they've nailed it. We were seated quickly and our drinks were filled in a reasonable amount of time. Our orders were also taken pretty quickly. Overall I'd rate the service good. They did make a mistake on my order but fixed it quickly with no extra charge, so no issues there. As for drinks I think my mom was the only one who ordered any sort of alcohol. She says the house margarita is not very good, get the Cadillac margarita, its much better. The mistake they made actually turned out to be the best thing I had from the restaurant. Originally I ordered the two item entrée with an enchilada and a green chile pork burrito, but was served the burrito and a chile relleno. I don't normally complain or send food back, but there was confusion because several of us ordered similar things and they caught on to the mistake without me saying anything. I took the food as is but they brought out an enchilada anyway, which I appreciate. I will say the chile relleno was actually really good, could've been spicier but it was fried perfectly with a great salsa/pico topping. The green chile pork was very very mild.. hardly any green chiles and not much spice to speak of. The meat was tender just not much flavor. The enchilada sauce was mostly tomato paste, very little in the way of chile flavoring or anything like that. I think I was most disappointed in the enchilada, just not very good. The beans were excellent though! Whoevers whipping up the frijoles back there, keep it up. The rice could use some work too though. Overall I'd say El Patio is not bad, it is definitely satisfying if you're hungry and looking for something filling. For the money I think you could do much better, even in Green Valley. Dinner entrees seemed to average about $10/11 though they came with a salad/soup appetizer. I'd venture to say their buffet is probably a good deal in the mornings too. If you're looking for non-spicy Mexican food, this is your place. If you're looking for well-spiced food, go elsewhere. I think people from out of town would be satisfied with El Patio but it is just not for me. read more
