Seems like every time I asked for a recommendation in town this place came up. Now to be fair we were here during the off season so to speak. Regardless is was still quite busy. We were immediately and orders were taken promptly but not rushed. The food came out so fast I literally thought they had the wrong table. I am a sucker for Chicken enchiladas and the Especial did not disappoint. Everything was really good. One thing I found unique that I loved was the chips and salsa. Not unique in itself but in the service. She set the chips down and asked mild or spicy salsa. My partner answered spicy. She poured hers and then asked me and I went with mild. A great choice for Mexican food. The dinning room is very comfortable, with choice of tables or booths. My food was delicious. I had the choice of complementary hot or mild salsa. I like that I could order 1/2 size Guacamole. The menu had a lot of variety. There was plenty of free parking nearby. We ate at Manuel's Mexican Restaurant yesterday, and everything was excellent! The salsas were fresh and full of flavor, the guacamole was absolutely delicious, and the beans and rice were some of the best we've had. Our server was wonderful, even though I can't remember her name. After we had finished eating and were getting ready to leave, she came out to thank us even after she had burned her hand. We really hope she's doing okay. Her kindness and dedication didn't go unnoticed. Thank you to everyone at Manuel's for the delicious food and great hospitality. I had a super pleasant experience here recently when I met up with a friend for dinner in our old stomping ground. I haven't been here in at least 10 years but it's a local favorite and I'm glad to see it's thriving. Lots of parking, beautiful entrance way with the fountain. Staff is over all very friendly, fast and helpful. Our food came out so quick and was delicious! And when combined with house margaritas and chips &salsa a plenty it made for a great night! I loved this place. The service was absolutely amazing and truly stood out. Our server was incredible, so kind and attentive, answered all my questions, and even brought me a sample of the shrimp ceviche, which I ended up ordering because I loved it. Love that the ambience it's cozy in here's very welcoming. The beers were nice and cold and the prices were great. The food was delicious, but honestly I would come back again just for the service. Service is always good. Food is just so so. Not much spice in food or salsas. I mean with a little heat or more.

The ambience was fine, no complaints. The service was good and our waitress was friendly and timely. The food is unexceptional. They do not add much spice to the food, so it is not very authentic. I had the Enchiladas Especial and they were a bit disappointing without much flavor. Mine had a bit too much spinach in it. The food is not bad, but it could be much better. I did like the beans and rice, but again, they were much like what you would get at any Mexican restaurant in the area. We will probably visit again since our friends seem to really like this place, so maybe I will try something different next time. read more

A decent Mexican restaurant in Green Valley. First time here as the family usually like the other place. I definitely like this one better and surprisingly don't feel bloated like you can sometimes with Mexican. Service was quick and efficient. Totally aware of items to sub for this with a need for gluten free. Had the combination burrito with chicken. While the chicken was a bit dry, overall decent, especially with some guacamole. The super burrito is huge. Typical chips and salsa at the beginning. Prices are very reasonable. We came early for dinner and there was quite a line when we left, so it's a popular spot. Reasonable prices for mediocre Mexican food. They're not the best but they are convenient.

We decided to try something other than our favorite Mexican restaurant in Green Valley, so had a late lunch at Manuel's yesterday. The joint was jumping with a short wait for a table in the dining room, so we opted to eat in the bar. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered Catfish Tacos and Chile Relleno/Cheese Enchilada Plates, each with rice and beans. As we waited for our meals we snacked on the chips and salsas, hot and medium, which were nothing special, and took in the ambiance- noisy, cheerfully decorated, bright, and clean. The tacos were good and messy with a rather skimpy portion of rice and beans. The Relleno/Enchilada plate arrived lukewarm warm with double the amount of beans and rice as my partner's meal. The food was bland, lacking heat and flavor. I used the "hot" salsa to add some zip to the dish., a mild improvement. As we finished our meals we agreed that Manuel's delivered an average dining experience. Next time we want Mexican food in Green Valley we'll return to our favorite place. read more

Some of the best Mexican cuisine in the area, and service is always supremo. But the real attraction for me was, repeat WAS, the Del Jefe Margarita. Sadly, they changed the recipe, removing the shot of Cointreau, a French orange liqueur, leaving the Don Julio Añejo, Gran Gala (an Italian orange liqueur), their lime mix, and some agave nectar. When I make my Supremo Margarita at home, I use their "old", better, recipe. Now, it's a good margarita, but it's not their GREAT margarita it used to be. So, while have an abundant number of exican restaurants in the area, I'm boycotting Manuels until the bring the original Del Jefe back, and restock Cointreau. This review likely won't impact the majority of their customer base, especially the winter visitors, but I consider myself a Margarita connoisseur, and I won't drink a proper margarita. read more

I'm celiac, their menu isn't labeled gluten free, but our server and the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable about what I could and couldn't eat. They made sure to clean the surface before cooking my meal, and made sure no gluten ingredients were added. We had some of the best fajitas I have ever had. Our absolutely favorite restaurant (Mexican or otherwise) in the greater Green Valley area. Food is fresh, prepared perfectly, and plentiful. Our favorites are the shrimp tacos and flat chicken enchilada. The employees are all pleasant, helpful, and hardworking. Restaurant is clean, well lit and has plenty of seating with room to move. This is our go to spot when we are in Green Valley. The service and food is the best in town for Mexican food. They have a large menu. I try to get something different each time. It has all been very good. My favorite is the flat enchilada and the green chile. They do not take reservations so first come first served. They give you an electronic device that lights up when it is your turn. There is seats outside to wait. The inside has a bar and lots of seating in the restaurant. read more

I really like this restaurant. What I don't like is one of your waitresses/bus person. Yesterday at 4:14 this person rushed In went behind the check out counter. Her hair was down, and it is shoulder length. She hugged another waitress and then started pulling out things from her purse. Mascara, lipstick, a hair tie, and a brush as well as other items I couldn't see. I've seen her come into the restaurant and go back to place where they have chips and salsa. If this person could come to work prepared to work it would certainly be nice. I do not know this individuals name, but I do know that I commented to Lesbeth about her hair before. Stopped in for lunch following the annual Tubac festival. Two plates, combination Burrito with Chili Verde and the crispy taco combo. Hot sauce not hot, chips were chips. Place seemed super clean, with plenty of staff - who all seemed to be 'moving' and keeping this place energized. Tables full around lunch. However, regarding entrees, this place missed the mark for us on both dishes. Not bad, just meh. Perhaps it is unfair to compare them against more authentic dishes in South Tucson, and based on the Green Valley clientele, I can't help but wonder if the food has adapted to the local retiree population where spice and bold flavors aren't as desired with an aging in place population. Absent 1/10 rating intervals, I'm dropping a solid 3. A 4 was within reach, but that rice was as 'white rice' as it gets.... Fast AND good... Stopped in for lunch around noon on a Saturday. Greeted and seated right away. Server was at our table in 3 minutes, suggestions were offered, and orders placed shortly after. I think the food was out in 5 minutes, which was amazing. Portions were perfect sized, and everything was delicious. I kept it simple with a combo plate, 2 items; Cheese enchilada, and flautas. We were greeted right away and seated just as fast despite it being busy at noon on a Monday. I loved the mini chicken chimichanga I ordered that came with outstanding frijoles and rice. I wasn't that hungry, so I had ordered off the kids menu (only $7 for the meal). The juicy, flavorful shredded chicken was seasoned just right inside the freshly fried chimi, and truly satisfied. Our waitress was so sweet, and brought me a side of green chili I had requested to pour over the chimi, which completed it. Great green chili w tiny bits of pork-yum yum. It reminded me of New Mexican green chili. Mom used their salsa to top her shredded beef chimi. They brought both mild and hot to our table with the chips upon arrival, and it was also authentic and delicious.
