Listen. When I say say do NOT sleep on El Patio, I mean it. My husband and I are frequent flyers and have NEVER had a bad meal here. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about menu items, the margaritas are amazing and you cannot beat the food. They have a great patio and on Wednesday nights have live music. If you haven't been there, run, don't walk to El Patio! It is one of my favorite places to eat in Lexington. read more

We sat outside on the patio on a Saturday for dinner. Service was very prompt and efficient with multiple servers waiting on us. The Guacamole and Queso were very good! I liked the chips and the salsa was tasty. I got the Deluxe Burrito and requested no meat and to substitute with vegetables and they were very accommodating of my request. Great food and great service. My first visit to El Patio was excellent. I got the Fajita Texanas and a cheese dip, both were delicious. I can't speak to the pricing because I'm new to the area and don't know what things normally cost around here, but I paid $20 for the Fajitas, cheese dip, and a fountain drink so that's pretty good I think. The cheese dip portion was a bit small for the price, but it was very good, and I definitely see myself ordering it again. They have a really nice outdoor seating area (hence the name). Opened in late 2020, this may be one of Lexington's newest Mexican restaurants. However, don't let the term newest fool you. We recognized the owner and our server from one of our favorite Mexican spots in Frankfort. These guys served us for years there and we never had a bad meal. Turns out they left that place to start their own restaurant. These guys are veterans and their food is EXCELLENT! Called about an hour before arriving to see if they served alcohol. My party wanted margaritas and beer Before dinner. They said they did serve alcohol. I asked if they had a bar. They said they did. Does this spot need another five star review? Probably not but I just can't help myself. It is hands down the best flavor of any Mexican I've tried in the last year in Lexington. As soon as you dip your first chip into their salsa, you will agree. That is the baseline for any Mexican joint and this one is full visible veggies (no puree here) along with way more heat than expected. Not insanely hot but you will want to wait until you have your water. Everything I've tried has been a homerun. Even the ground beef in the tacos is mouthwatering! My favorite so far is the Bistec a la Mexicana, the beef shreds are in some kind of incredible sauce that is so flavorful without being too salty. Again, as a gringa, I would rate this as a medium level spice but their 2 for 1 margaritas on Saturday nights help keep my mouth cool as I shovel it in. Service is fast and friendly plus they have a beautiful patio on the side of the building. The couple of times I've sat inside, the occupied tables were very far from each other so I felt super Covid safe there. The downside (barely): the location is hard to find. They are on the Richmond Rd service road but not really on it, there is a strip mall hidden back behind Chase Bank and the entrance to that is sort of confusing. Don't let this stop you!
