Upon entering. This is a beautiful little restaurant with nice music, vibrant lighting, and amazing service. The waitress's are very nice and everything is aesthetically pleasing. However the food is just sub par. What I ordered came out and looked very nice on the plate but the food was just mediocre, the flavoring was no good. It just tasted like a whole ordeal of hot mush. There was atleast 3/4th of can of pineapples on my plate if not a whole can. The steak was definitely overcooked and non seasoned. Honestly the best dish was the chips and salsa. We chose to eat here because a coworker recommended the restaurant and the lunch buffet. The buffet was large and had no guacamole on cold bar. I ordered the chicken lunch fajitas and they were plentiful and the lunch price was $7.25. I thought the lunch fajita was a good value and really a large portion. Food is ALWAYS piping hot and has decent flavors. The salsa isn't bad either. This Mexican restaurant is so much better than the other Mexican restaurant down the road. I had tilapia over grilled vegetables (zucchini, yellow squash, onions, bell pepper, & tomatoes), with rice and beans on the side. When the waitress came out, our chips were very cold...like they had been sitting out for awhile. But we asked to have them replaced, and she quickly replaced them for it. We were in town and needed some dinner, La Antigua was the choice! This isn't a run of the mill Mexican restaurant and I really appreciate that. Their menu has some items you'd expect and some that are unique which was great. The salsa on the table wasn't the same as every other Mexican restaurant I've been too and it was extremely good. The most notable part of all is that my friend got vegetable fajitas, which I expected to essentially be a plate of zucchini, and she got SO much more than that! Five stars for the food and ambience!! We went nearer to closing time and they took our order on the phone as kitchen closes at 8:20 Food was ready by the time we reached and it was delicious!! My daughter kept eating and saying "this is so good" As for ambience, they have TVs with sports on and very interesting booth and chair design. Ordered take out tonight. I pick up the food & get home to realize they failed to include my part of the order. My husband called. They say something happened(don't remember their excuse). He said he'd be there in 5 minutes to get my part of the order they failed to include. He then waited almost half an hour for my food to get a $2 discount! A $2 discount for having to drive back out & wait half an hour longer for food we should've gotten to begin with. Needless to say, his food we did originally get, is cold now. Absolutely ridiculous. It was supper time and we had just arrived home from our vacation. It had been a month since we tried La Antigua but didn't want to go out. I called and placed a carry out order: I love beef enchiladas with rice . My wife enjoys the beef Nachos Supreme. By the time I drove to pickup ( about 10-15 minutes ) our meal was waiting. I like the people who are working there and love the Mexican food they serve. For a change of pace I highly recommend trying La Antigua. read more

We were recommended this place by my brother in law. Started out with a couple of margaritas that were very tasty. Then we ordered the molcajete which is a fajita in a stone bowl. The food at this place was very good. The margaritas being on special made it all the more better. So if you find yourself in Georgetown you need to stop by even if it is only to get a margarita. read more

According to yelp reviews, this restaurant was supposed to be the best around. If that's true, skip Mexican food today. Maybe Italian tonight? First of all, we were sat right behind the karaoke speakers. Honestly, there is no spot in the restaurant that is immune to the loud speakers. I had to shout my conversation with my dinner guest. Not pleasant. The worst part was the 4 year old girl "singing" Let It Go (Frozen). She could barely sing a word but yelled the chorus parts. Super annoying. The margarita was good, service fast and pleasant. The guacamole we ordered for an app was horrible. I think it was made with mayonnaise and salsa. We sent it back and asked not to be charged. I ordered Carne Asada. It was not skirt steak but rather a cheap (and thin) cut of meat. Maybe round steak. Lots of fat around the edges. And it was covered in green peppers, smothered actually. The meat was over seasoned with salt and the soupy refried beans were under seasoned. Salsa and chips were ok. Water was good. read more

Done deal! Best Mexican food in Georgetown! Huge portions, good price, very nice staff. Well laid out tables and booths are deep. Deep enough you can lean back, or if your a big guy like my boyfriend you can sit comfortably! At 3:30 on a Thursday afternoon there was only one waiter/host/bartender but he was so good you didn't notice. My chips, salsa, beer, and water came very quickly. Chimichanga lover, I tried the chimi Mexicano. One of each beef and chicken served split. The beef, oh wow! Excellent flavor. High quality food all the way today. Only downside was very cheap flatware. Hurt to cut my food because the edges on the fork were sharp. I'll be back again. Skip Pepe's off exit 126 and come here. Worth it. read more

But. . . the kitchy decor with its stereotypical "lazy Mexicans" laying under sombreros was . . . interesting. And we happened in on karaoke night. Which can be cringy to some people. I'm not sure how to review this place but here goes. The staff is friendly and reasonably quick. The food is ok but not great and it comes out at different times. We had several items and everyone agreed that while ok they would not drive out of the way to get here. Read the good reviews and maybe we caught them at a rough spot. Wow! Let's see how long this review remains. I can't believe the positive reviews, this place is little more than a sit down Taco Bell with a "buffet". The Buffet is a joke!! They use preformed and store bought taco shells (tacos and taco bowls) as well as what the call "enchiladas" (there's more like a strange tasting tamale). They were consistently out of servings and we had to repeatedly wait for them to restock. Unbelievably, their Mexican buffet also had Chinese food. The food here is amazing...simply some of the best in the area. The chips are nice and thick, the salsa not too spicy, the vegetables fresh. The buffet is rather tasty for a buffet although I do wish they would label the dishes so I know what I'm eating. So, why three stars? The service is less than stellar. I've eaten here when there were only a few tables, when it's been a little busy, and on Cinco de Mayo when they were crazy busy and the service is always the same: lack of attention, having to ask for everything including silverware, and waiting for someone to take my order. There just doesn't seem to be any semblance of a typical restaurant staff...host, server, bartender, etc. It just seems everyone just stands someplace until they are flagged down by a diner who needs something. I've been seated and then served food with no silverware and couldn't get anyone's attention to get some so I just went to the stand and got my own. But Cinco de Mayo was the worse...we expected it to be busy and had no problem with that. But we were the first to be sat in an empty section. Slowly 8 other tables were seated in that section. Despite us ordering first every single table got their food before us. One table was finished and leaving before we got our food. We were very close to just paying for our sodas and leaving. I don't know if there is so much focus on the excellent food that the owners/managers don't care about training their kitchen and front of the house staff on how to run a restaurant. Right now the food is so good that I still eat there but it's only a matter of time before the lack of service means I eat somewhere else. read more

Let me just say I love this place. I have been many many times since it opened, mostly for lunch. I have also been to all of the other Mexican restaurants in Georgetown. The difference here is service mainly, although this place has their own special items on the menu, not just the dishes you find everywhere else. The people that run this restaurant are great, the servers are efficient and friendly, and the service is above what you would expect!
