Homemade salsa and hot sauce are ON POINT. my husband and I came here for lunch today. Our food was fresh, delicious, and the service was lovely. The place is super clean and has a nice menu and selection of Tequilas. Looking forward to coming back for the margaritas which our host Umberto advised us are never made with sour mix but with fresh lime juice. I had the pollo oaxaca and the portion was huge. I didn't feel yucky after eating either which is a gamble sometimes when trying a new Mexican place. Can't wait to visit again! Great Drinks! My Margarita was wonderfully full of tequila but it wasn't overpowering. If tequila in a margarita is a problem for you then you shouldn't be drinking it, they have water for your type. The food was delicious and the service was great! We had to ask three times for water, we both requested water when order was taken, after chips and salsa (the best flavor of our meal), I flagged down a server to ask for water, she brought one and had to be asked for water for my partner. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant not just in the Hunterdon County area but possibly the entire state of NJ!! Where do I begin?? Try their complimentary warm tortilla chips with delicious homemade salsa or treat yourself to the awesome table side guacamole! You MUST try a delicious scratch made margarita to accompany your meal. For dinner do yourself a favor and order their Tacos Al Carbon...you will not be disappointed. In the middle of no where joint and happened to pass by mid week.... the barbacoa tacos were some of the best I've ever had. Juicy and full of robust flavors with a smokey kick. Highly recommend. Had a solid patron marg as well. The yellow rice was a mediocre side on the plate in terms of taste but it was ultimately inconsequential to how good the tacos were. Very solid service as well. While I dislike giving such a low rating when most of the food is good, the service actually drags it down even lower. We had a party of four. Getting chips and salsa was difficult and way too slow. When ordering, we order among other apps two bowls of black bean soup. The lady only brought out one. I had to wait till the server could be seen and she seemed disinterested. When I finally got the soup it was cold. I wonder if it was on purpose or just it took her forever to bring the second bowl. The server didn't come around often and we had to asked several times for salt and sugar substitute. After asking a second time she rolled her eyes and seemed put upon. We had to ask many times for one refill of tea and coke and they were slow coming. She did move quickly to see if the mixed drinks needed refills. What was complimentary (free refills) came slow and what we paid for (alcohol) came much quicker. She was disinterested when taking our order and the result showed. She brought out a wrong order and denied that it was wrong. I had to tell her that I had heard the order given correctly. Why would we want to play such games. It took a long while for the correct order to come out and the person was gracious as she told us to go ahead and eat. We were done when her order came out. That is really unacceptable. We had to wait over twenty minutes for it What was even more unacceptable was that the server didn't say she was sorry, but she again seemed put off. She were not rude to her and said thanks every time she did something for our table. My wife who seldom complains, said how awful the service was when we were in our car. This was not the first time we ate here. Before, the server was attentive, courteous and very efficient. True the bean soup also came out cool (but not as cold as this experience), but the food was good. I like their skirt steaks. The salmon is also good. My wife left our usual tip and didn't take away any percentage for such wretched service. I would have thought about leaving a penny, but we are not vindictive. I hope management sees this and start to train their staff. We will come back as the Mexican choices around are limited and the food is the best available in our area. read more

I'll start this off by saying I'm notoriously hard to please at a restaurant, most specifically with service. We went for a quick weekday dinner. I had called ahead for a table just in case, but it ended up not being necessary. We were promptly seated in an oversized booth. All of the furnishings are custom, chunky wood, and the restaurant was very clean. Our waitress was friendly, and spoke perfect English and Spanish. The menu has a lot of choices without being overwhelming. Drinks were a bit pricy but well made. The food was outstanding, with very generous portions. They have a homemade habanero hot sauce that was delicious, and so spicy that I was crying, but so good I was laughing. Through it all our waitress was without fault, start to finish. All in all, I can't wait to go back with more time and a larger appetite! read more

I've been here 5 times and will continue to go back unless things take a turn. Family owned and operated, I believe this is their second location - So we know they have the recipe for success! Overall, consistently good entrees and strong/delicious drinks from the bar. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is because I feel there are areas that are in need of improvement. 1 - Pay attention to peak season produce, and take advantage of the local bounty. I've tried the street corn special twice...as I'll always give something a second chance. The corn on the cob has been on the specials menu just about all summer... I mean, we're in NJ - nothing beats Fresh Jersey Sweet Corn! Both times the corn has come out completely "dead" - dried out flavorless kernels that tasted like they may have been previously frozen...not something you would expect from a restaurant that is in the heart of farmland in NJ during peak season. So disappointing. We took 1 bite of our corn both times we tried, and couldn't eat anymore...we aren't the type to complain, but both times the server noticed we barely ate the corn and never asked if there was a problem...lack of care or more concerned for their bottom line? Overall concern is that specials are not used to highlight what is fresh and creative, but rather a push on things that are tiered. 2 - We've experienced 2 male servers who were just so unenthusiastic and seemingly not happy to be there. There is something to be said about people in service industries who act like they're being inconvenienced when doing their job....making your customers feel taken care of appreciated is your job. Our job as customers is to thank and tip you for your service....I'm an over-tipper, 20% is standard even if you did a bad job. No one should have a bad attitude who is working in the service industry. Overall - Keep doing what you're doing and maybe take the advice I've left into consideration. Stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday. Place seemed pretty empty but the interior was so nicely decorated. We sat on the outdoor patio, which I loved! I got the white sangria and steak tacos. My boyfriend got a beer and the spicy pork tacos. They both were 2 large tacos served with a huge pile of rice and a side of beans. We both enjoyed our meals. The staff was very friendly.
