This place is amazing! Jaime and his staff are so nice and friendly. They have all fresh seafood and everything was great. My son loved his Garlic Shrimp plate as well as my other son who got the shrimp burrito. They also offer wonderful tasting margaritas. Price here is very reasonable. If you are in the romantic zone just uber or taxi over and you will not be disappointed. My Grandfather Leonard took us here every time we visited him and now with him passed away, we greatly appreciated seeing a picture of him and my grandmother Nellie on the wall in the restaurant. About 15 mins walk from the resort we were staying in. Only about two blocks from the Sheraton, El Patron is a wonderful local off the beaten path gem for fresh seafood.. The restaurant was small and very casual. I like the open air patio type atmosphere that comes with free dust ( was very windy that day LOL!) The place was pretty packed. They brought out tacos with house made guacamole, it was exceptional. The Fish tacos and the Grilled whole Red snapper was prepared tastefully and so fresh! I didn't like the Crab tacos. Margarita was tasty! The service was quick and the staff was very friendly. Good selection of drinks, and majority of tequila brands, beer, mixed drinks and wine. Such an affordable lunch for $20. El Patron looks like a little hole in the wall place, but then again many smaller restaurants in this area do. Parking is somewhat limited in this area as it is across from a park. The interior is on the smaller side, but can still fit a few large parties within. We were a part of 8, mostly ex-pats and then myself and roommate whom were visiting. Dec 3, 2017. Just went for dinner here after seeing all the positive comments. We shared octopus tostadas as appetizers. Fresh, nice portions very good. Then i had the coconut shrimp with mango sauce which is to die for. My partner had the filet mignon and coconut shrimp as surf and turf which was equally delicious. Unfortunately, we didn't find out about this place until our last full day in PV. Another Sheraton guest clued us in at the club breakfast that morning, so we decided to walk across the street (three blocks from the Sheraton across the busy "feels-like-live-action-human-Frogger" Ave Francisco Villa) and check it out for lunch. The place was hopping and clearly a local favorite. Jaymie was phenomenal in educating us about what was best on the menu. We started with the crab tacos with a cream sauce. My guy had the pan-seared tuna (you could taste the ocean, swear!) and I had the bacon wrapped gorgonzola shrimp. Both dishes had a tamarind sauce that was unbelievable. The lady that mentioned the place to us also suggested ordering the Kahlúa and cream drink for dessert...and so do we. And that's just the food. The staff...incredible! We went back the next day (only had a few hours to spare before heading out to the airport) skipping the all-inclusive Sheraton breakfast (not that it was bad, we just wanted more of what El Patron had to offer). We got there around noonish on Saturday and were the first customers. Jaime and crew instantly recognized us (they took a liking to my rainbow Keen sandals I had on the day before and my hubs is one of those big and tall dudes with long hair, so he stands out in a crowd). We got the cracking red snapper with fresh made corn tortillas and lobster with garlic bread...it's just indescribable how fantastic everything tasted. As we finished what we decided was our best and sadly last PV-meal, we got one more Kahlua y Crema, looked around at the palm trees, the local kids playing soccer at the fields, and decided we were ready to figure out how to be expats in PV. We left El Patron hugging it out (we were all masked and my hubs and I knew we were COVID neg because we had to take the test a day before like everyone else to get back States-side). So grateful for finding you, El Patron, and for enjoying the best what we considered PV had to offer in terms of food, service, and friendship!!! We stayed at Sheraton and came to this restaurant for lunch based on great yelp reviews. It's about 5 minutes walk from Sheraton. The restaurant has a very simple decor. They have seating inside and outside. The food was really good here and the presentation is as good as in many expensive restaurants. I ordered shrimp Al Patron - it's their signature dish. The shrimp is wrapped in bacon, stuffed with Gouda cheese and grilled. It's served on the bed of rice. Bacon and cheese made this dish a little too salty for me, but overall it was really good. My husband had guacamole and shrimp cream soup. Guacamole tasted really well and shrimp soup was creamy and the cream taste didn't overpower the shrimp. The service was extremely attentive and nice. They even gave us complementary dessert drink. read more

I was shocked as to how reasonable the menu prices are for being right on the busiest part of the malecon. I didn't even know they existed, but happened to see a menu stand next to what appeared to be deserted stairs while wandering about. There was a large fish tank with one fish, and as we were being mesmerized by this stupid fish, a server walked by at the top of the stairs and invited us up. There was maybe one other couple in the dining room and one person at the bar. We selected a table overlooking the malecon on the outside of the dining area for a breeze. Our server was helpful in making menu selections as well as explaining the specials and drink orders. We started with chips and two salsas that were both quite tasty. I ordered the crab enchiladas which came with no sides, and my boyfriend ordered the seafood pasta. His was definitely better than mine, but I feel like food always tastes better from someone else's plate anyway. My enchiladas were loaded with filling and I really enjoyed the sauce on top. We were a party of three and were approached by our server. I said approached instead of greeted since he did not smile or say hello. After setting down our drinks, I asked him about the seafood soup hoping to get a better description than what the menu had. He said "well it is soup" He did not come by to inquire how our meal was or to offer another drink. He treated us like we were an inconvenience. He overcharged us on our bill and argued with my brother in law over the 18% tip that was left. He set up a couple tables together for a large party that had arrived and then took out a shrill whistle to let them know that the table was ready. I quess he thought herding them over like sheep was more preferable than walking over to let them know that their table was ready. The other servers appeared to be friendly and engaging. One of them asked if we wanted any dessert. I wish we could have had that server instead of the rude and surly server with the tattoos. We sent a message to the manager regarding the lack of customer service but we did not hear back. As someone that works in the food service industry, I find the lack of common courtesy that we experienced unacceptable. read more

The food is delicious and the portions are large. We shared the seafood soup, shrimp ceviche and skewered surf & turf. Our total bill came out to 600 pesos or about $32 USD for the two of us! I must say I was disappointed with the service! The older gentleman with tattoos and and ear piercing did not offer me a menu as he assumed I didn't speak any English. His response was they are in English when I asked for a menu as he handed them out to people waiting. Not only that, but we were a party of two waiting for about 10 minutes and when a Caucasian couple arrived he sat them prior to us. The guy was a joke and a pervert as he served the mother and daughter next to us he would kiss them both on the cheeks.... lol sorry, but coming from a Mexican family that isn't a norm. There are a few moments when I feel called upon to wrote a review - usually it means it is something you feel strongly about. The chef here (and I mean chef and not just a cook) has got so dialed on that you're taken by surprise. The simple decor and casual environment just adds to the charm. It's all about the food. Trained wonderfully well and they delivered. We covered a range including the signature dish as well as a hamburguesa that was the best I've had in the past few years with homemade fries and soft buns. My mother was not thrilled with her fish fillet as one side was not fully cooked. But the patron prawn and bacon dish is sublime and filling. The dessert of key lime pie was just as good. I will be coming back as many times as I can. It reminds you why you don't need to rely on all inclusives - venture and you will be rewarded. read more

They easily accommodated our group of 10 on two different occasions by moving tables together.
